Hello, and welcome to Da Warpath.
![]() I can see you have the foundations of a verrr' cool piratey army here, mate! The Merboar is a cool idea. I also really like the handpainted banner. However, there is always improvement to be done, and for a good step towards perfection I'd suggest using the Citadel Washes. Do you have any? They are just...awesome, really. Instant shading and deepening of any paintjob, providing you use a suitable wash for the right surface. Shadind and deepening of colours seems to be what your army is lacking the most so far, so I warmly reccomend them. Maybe the slight "flatness" of the paintjobs is just the pics though, I don't know. *Thraka Green, mostly for the skin. It's really good. *Badab Black, great for shading basically anything. Darker skin, metal, eyesockets and the odd grey/black/even brown bits you'll have on a model gets so much better with a bit of this. *Devlan Mud, also known as "Talent in a bottle"...says it all really! Works on anything brown-ish, including beiges and bone colours. As well as a lot of different O&G skin colours. So there, just some small tips. Looking forward to seeing this army develop, everyone loves pirate orcs! ![]() Theo |

Welcome here, mate! and great theme for an army
I can see that the color is a bit lumpy, so my advice is to water down a bit the color. Three thinned hands of color are better than one thik and lumpy hand theo gave you a lot of useful tips, so I have not to much to add ![]() Lookin' forward for some proppa pirates! |

Hi and wecome.
One suggestion I would say is try and post full size pictures to your blog. People find it easier to view than clicking on the thumbnails. |

Ahhh, the dear old chestnut ink! In an old guide by GW the sequence for the orc-ish metal was:
-Black primer -Tin biz drybrush .boltgun metal drybrush -chestnut ink watered down -higlight with chainmal Personally I use: -Black primer -Rust colour drybrush -Boltgun metal drybrush -Badab Black, devlan mud and a bit of thraka green washes. Washes are a bit less heavy than the old inks, and they have not to be watered down -Higkight with chaimal or mithril silver |

Planks with the lines molded on is easy.
Just paint scorched brown and drybrush with: - Bestial Brown - Snakebite leather - Bubonic brown - Bleached bone No need to do all of them, just stop when you think it's light enough. I usually do this on war machines where I stop certain part at the snakebite stage and others I highlight further. For smooth parts the colors are the same, but you have to paint the grain yourself which is a pain in the arse Grtz -EM- |
