Actually it's better than that. On a LD7 you have over a 50% chance of passing. You can roll 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 and 12. That's 11 results. 6 of those results would mean a passes LD test. 6/11 is ~0.54, so a 54% chance of passing a LD7 test.

Thus the chance of making it with a re-roll is about 79%. I'm pretty sure that's how that works.

*Edit: Sneaky bugger changed your messege while I was quoting you! You said there was a 75% chance of making it with a re-roll, I saw you!

Yes, I was wrong. I've recalculated it carefully: LD7 with reroll gives you approximately 82,5% chance to pass, and without reroll only 58,(3)%

Juste to explain the 58%...

you don't have the same chances to get a 12 than a 7, you can get a 7 if you roll 1-6, 2-5, 3-4, 4-3, 5-2 and 6-1. To get 12 you need 6-6.

So, we have 36 different combination with 2 dices. Of those combination you have 21 that are equal or lower than 7.

21/36 = 58.3%

then I suppose that on 2 rolls, you have 82.5% chances to pass... I don't remember how to calculate this

You have 21/36 chance to get not greater than 7 and 15/36 - to get more than 7. To fail LD7 with reroll you must fail 2 times in a row, the probability of it is 15/36 * 15/36 = 0,174. That means that the probability of success is 0,826 i.e. 82,6%

Ah, yeah! I did remember the thing about the chance of rolling a 7 was higher, but I wasn't completely sure (Read: I was lazy ) so I disregarded it.
