| Holy S**t. You just posted the goblin army of my dreams. Loving all the classic goblin goodness. So much so that I don't know where to start... The shields on the first 2 big units are really well done. And you even made the 6th ed goblins look good.
I thought I was familiar with most of the older gobbo figures but you have ones even I don't recognise. The 'Stunty Stompers' for example, are they plastics from a box-set?
Last question... Whats your formula for the gobbo skin tone?

THIS IS HANDS DOWN THE BEST, AND MY MOST FAVOURITE, GOBLIN ARMY I'VE EVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVEREVER SEEN!!!!
Absolutely amazing sir! The chariot you've put Grom on is awesome - great conversion. And those old models are incredible, and very well painted. And those giant things! Wow. JUST WOW. I'm tempted to put every smiley down because YOUR ARMY IS SO FRIGGIN ZIGGIN AWESOME!!!!!!!
|Posted by: cb_rex Apr 24 2011, 11:36 PM|
|I agree, this army is amazing, the bright colours and green bases takes me back to the awesomeness of the 90's. The quality level of the freehand on the shields and banners is consistently really good throughout the army. I think Grom's chariot would have benefited from some front wheels and another row of 4 wolves pulling it. I love all the different giants and Squigs, great work!|
|Posted by: Da Git Apr 24 2011, 11:46 PM|
|I love all those smug old style grins! It takes me right back to why I started playing the game in the first place.|
|Posted by: rat of vengence Apr 25 2011, 02:51 AM|
| Best collection of classic gobbos I have seen. Wonderful work mate!
|Posted by: smokemeakipper Apr 25 2011, 06:55 AM|
| excellent goblin army kevin. love all the old models, they have so much character.id just be worried putting grom on a big chariot like that, just shouts 'cannonballs this way please'!
please keep painting and posting. this kind of thing really inspires me to get my own goblin army finished (if there is such a thing....doubt it).
|Posted by: Kees (aka Ghenkadh) Apr 25 2011, 08:56 AM|
| This overview is really great! Old style models and painting combines with the few newer models.
Nice done indeed.
|Posted by: Groznit Goregut Apr 25 2011, 01:03 PM|
| I didn't hear that you were at Adepticon until after I'd left. It's too bad that I had a chance to see the army first hand (if you did bring this one). Also, it would have been good to meet the famous Kevin C.
Love the models.
|Posted by: BorkBork Apr 25 2011, 02:08 PM|
| great stuff!
think i have seen a few pics before (definately the fantastic grom chariot) but i really dont mind seeing this twice....or thrice or a hundred times..
btw, that knightly gobbo champ in the first picutere, what brand is he?
|Posted by: Tokamak Apr 25 2011, 03:44 PM|
|Those classic common goblins look way better than the plastics. These things really need a rehaul.|
|Posted by: Tartar Sauce Apr 25 2011, 03:54 PM|
| Love classic Goblins, thats what Goblins should look like.
@BorkBork: Thats an old Marauder Goblin officer http://www.solegends.com/marauder/mm30goblins.htm
|Posted by: BorkBork Apr 25 2011, 05:35 PM|
| thx tartar
i just love that model.
|Posted by: Guru_Swami Apr 25 2011, 07:56 PM|
| Well, everyone's already beat me to it but WOW!!!! LOVE the classic night gobbos!
What was your color formula for the squigs? All of the colors are so crisp and bright, just as a squig should be! The orange looks great, I can never seem to get my orange to come out just right.
|Posted by: Gorks_wundapantz Apr 25 2011, 10:56 PM|
|love the old models. great paint jobs, esp on the squigherd. how long have you been collecting?|
|Posted by: KevinC Apr 26 2011, 05:15 PM|
| Hi guys, thanks for all the compliments...I'm thrilled that you guys like my Goblins.
-----Thanks, I'll have to arrange one at some point. I don't often take a lot of pics, but next time I do I'll try for a group shot...
--------No, those gobbos are a mix of old metal Citadel and Marauder.
-------I actually use an out-of-production citadel colour, Putrid Green. Before they discontinued the colour, I bought a hole bunch of pots! There is a 'Game Color' paint called Verde Bilis Livery Green (72033), I have not used it, but it looks like a similar color as Putrid Green.
Yup, Marauder...a lovely figure. Although I use him as a Goblin Boss, he'd make a great Warboss or Big Boss!
---------Well I always prime everything white, so that the colours will be brighter. I guess the trick I do, whether it's orange or yellow or whatever, I highlight or dry brush the model with pure white, then go over the white with the colour. So in example, an orange Squig: primed white, painted a bright orange, washed with a reddish colour, highted/dry brushed with white then over the white with a bright orange.
---------Since 1987 or 88!
|Posted by: KevinC Apr 26 2011, 05:24 PM|
------Thanks a lot, I'm glad you like it, very flattered by your remark!
-------Lol, I know, I know...I built the chariot pre-8th edition! When faced against cannons, I deploy Grom behind Trolls, so that they might 'catch' the cannon ball before it reaches Grom (if the Troll is not slain, the cannon ball stops). Otherwise, I rely on the Lucky Banner and Regeneration!
-------Ah, would have been cool to chat about goblinoids! Next time!
|Posted by: Morten C Apr 26 2011, 07:23 PM|
| Huge fan of all your models. Terrific army
Those classic goblins are awesome. They look splendid compared to the plastics. I've bought my goblins from all kinds of different companies, and looking at your awesome army made me wanna start painting that unit
|Posted by: Timbor Apr 27 2011, 01:07 PM|
|Very nice! Are those troll giants made by GW? Never seen them before.|
|Posted by: Rog Apr 27 2011, 02:17 PM|
|Kudos on the dedication to painting. I waited for all the pics to load up on my crappy connection just for the awe of the mass of units. Now that's a proper goblin WAAAGH!|
|Posted by: KevinC Apr 29 2011, 02:35 AM|
---------They are from Foundry miniatures.
|Posted by: Brog Ironfang Apr 29 2011, 06:18 AM|
I really like the squigs and the trolls. Did you collect the models when they were in stores or pick them up from ebay?
It's nice to see how models looked at the beginning...
Also I don't want to steal your thread but is there a 8ed Indy Chaos Dwarf Book? (I know you did the previous ones and I wonder if there will be the 8ed one).
|Posted by: Father Grumpmas May 1 2011, 08:30 PM|
|That. Ladies and Gentlemen, is why we play Orcs and Goblins|
|Posted by: gjnoronh2 May 2 2011, 01:01 AM|
|I've played against Kevin for twenty years on the tournament circuit in the US. The army really looks amazing on the table. Though I have to admit Kev I rebased my O and G army with 'modern' basing techniques. . . .maybe it's time|
|Posted by: Squigkikka May 2 2011, 07:27 AM|
| Holy ZOG
That is one hell of an epic army. So... so good looking! I love how colorful it is! I can practically hear the mad cackling!
I think I especially love all the chariots and the shields/banners- the leering faces you've made are amazing! So Zoggin' good!
No wonder you manage so well in tournies! Opponents are shamed into defeat when against such a badass looking army!
|Posted by: KevinC May 14 2011, 11:12 PM|
| Again, thanks for all the kind remarks. I'm pleased that you guys like my Gobbos...
-------I've been collecting since the late 80s. What's ebay? (kidding )
------I was planning on putting out a revised 8th edition PDF, but since the Warhammer Forge Chaos Dwarf list is coming out in a couple of months, I guess there is no need for me to update the Dwarfs of Chaos PDF.
I do have an FAQ and 8th edition errata up on The Warmonger Club boards however.
-------Thanks Gary! I know, everyone tells me to do my bases differently, but I like the old school style. But I'll consider...

I put up a few more pics today (8/21/11), a few more monsters and characters...check them out please! Thanks.

| Hello !!! I would like know ... where is from this " great stone troll " ?
Where Could I buy it
|Posted by: Father Grumpmas Nov 18 2011, 04:46 AM|
If you mean the big purple guy in the back ground then it is a Wargames Foundry figure.
If you mean the big one-eyed guy in the front, it is a Rackham figure (Black Troll) - currently out of production but still available from some on-line figure sellers and also pops up on e-bay quite a lot.
|Posted by: Fang'ead Nutya Jan 8 2012, 07:06 AM|
| awesome gobbo's. But I absolutely adore the squigs. I Really am too regimental in my painting thinking and techniques and doing something like that scares me.
And you've got my favourite gobbo in there. The one flipping the bird at da enemy

Gitilla Da Hunter!
Wuzbog the Shaman
Goblin Scrap Shoota (classic Lead Belcher organ gun)

| Nice looking spider, I wouldn't like to meet that one in an alley
|Posted by: Snikpik Mar 30 2012, 04:54 PM|
| Moved to the army blog section.
Nice spider. Looks awesome.
|Posted by: Noisy Assassin Mar 30 2012, 05:29 PM|
|Wow, great stippling effect on the spider! And a very fun old-school army overall!|
|Posted by: Gork Morksson Mar 30 2012, 06:01 PM|
|really cool spider! The shield faces really stand out (but in a good way) and the overall paintjobb is superb|
|Posted by: Craze_b0i Mar 30 2012, 06:37 PM|
| Great job I love all the stipling effect on the spider. My favourite thing is the custom howdah. In particular the safety rail is a nice touch, much more practical than the GW sculpt.
The one thing is the shell in the middle looks a bit empty - you could maybe use that space for a lookout goblin?
|Posted by: azhagmorglum Mar 30 2012, 07:50 PM|
| Apart from the old school basing, this arachnarok is just perfect !! The painting, the conversions, the scenery. The old models (forest goblins and "baby" spiders) are just enhancing the big gribbly in a surprisingly way. I even prefer this crew to the plastic one. Moreover, the purple colour really ties all the monsters together.
One of the nicest Arachnarok I've ever seen
|Posted by: Goofycabal Mar 30 2012, 10:34 PM|
| I really love the blending of the classic Forest Goblins and Giant Spiders alongside the new Arachnarok
Your paintjob has done the whole thing wonderful justice too!
|Posted by: Thitanium Prince Mar 30 2012, 10:45 PM|
| That's an awesome a-rock, the howdah is really better than the original one (that I dislike) and the classic gobbo fit the model surpsingly well!
|Posted by: amplebob Apr 5 2012, 10:50 AM|
|Very cool army, lots of characterful old models painted colourfully. The platform for your spider is very cool and the beasty itself looks brilliant.|
|Posted by: KevinC Apr 10 2012, 12:33 AM|
| Thanks guys! Glad you like the Spider. I'm very pleased with how he turned out!
----------The spider on the howdah can be removed and my Spider Shrine w/ Goblin Shaman fits there perfectly. I did not finish painting the shrine yet, but I'll post a pic when I get to that...

| August 23, 2012 - Update:
Just added some new pics of Wolf Riders, characters (including Gitilla Da Hunter) and the shaman option for the Archnarok Spider. Check out page 3 of this thread, thanks.
|Posted by: azhagmorglum Aug 23 2012, 09:29 PM|
|Nice update and so many classic goblins !! It's great.|

| i want your Kahn
Have been trying to get it but am not ready yet to pay 30 euros for it.
anyway, great arok. Am gonna (to try to) do something similar with my old hydra to turn it into a hydranok. I also really like the spotted pattern.
and the characters on the new wolves look excellent and they blend in surprisingly well with the old wolves.
|Posted by: amplebob Aug 24 2012, 12:50 AM|
|All the additions look absolutely ace. The spider shrine you've done is so simple, but so effective. Great work.|
|Posted by: Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull Aug 25 2012, 09:03 PM|
I got him this week for 10 EUR ( and I have 11 of those olagh khan wolfboyz).
Nice stuff Kevin, is that a horde wolfboyz?
|Posted by: Craze_b0i Aug 25 2012, 10:25 PM|
| Oh yes I am loving the wolf-horde. I think even Gengis Khan would be impressed.
Can we get some more pics of those to see all the riders? Are they all OOP metal or a mixture of old/new?
|Posted by: carson Aug 26 2012, 04:26 PM|
|Hey, love the wolf horde. Something I'd like to build eventually. Old school figs rock.|
|Posted by: KevinC Aug 26 2012, 06:12 PM|
| Hey guys, yup that is a Wolf Rider Horde! It's all metal riders from 3rd and 4th edition.
I've been playing with a Wolf Rider army lately and having a lot of fun with it...and it's performing a lot better than I thought it would.
The main unit is 40 Wolf Riders w/shield and full command. Led by a wolf riding Goblin Warboss (who is not the army general) w/shield, armour of protection, sword of might and crown of command. Being fast cav the unit reforms for free, so I normally deploy in horde formation, but will change to 5 wide (8 ranks deep) during my vanguard move.
The rest of the army consists of smaller units of wolf riders, including Gitilla and Da Howlerz, plus 8-10 chariots, along with a big unit of Trolls or the Arachnarok. I take Grom as the army general. Def having fun with this set up!
|Posted by: GrinninGobbo Aug 26 2012, 07:38 PM|
|As a massive fan of old school goblins I have really enjoyed following this blog, you really do have an amazing collection, and that wolf rider horde... just WOW|
|Posted by: BorkBork Aug 26 2012, 10:23 PM|
so where does your house live?
|Posted by: g6Joker6g Sep 8 2012, 12:02 AM|
|Very very nice army, i stumbled upon it when you posted in the dust goblin thread. I'm def a fan of the brighter armies that pop out on the board. btw where did you find your Morkwart Gutwarp, Da Prophet of Mork =O very cool looking|
|Posted by: KevinC Sep 8 2012, 01:59 PM|
| Thanks for the comments!
Joker, Morkwart is a Confrontation model. They have an amazing range of Goblin, Troll and Orc miniatures. However, they are no longer in business, but last I heard someone was acquiring their range of miniatures. Either way, if you type in "confrontation goblin miniatures" in eBay I'm sure you'll find them...

| <BEWARE THREAD NECROMANCY>
But after u replied on my blog, and seeing as you call yourself the Goblin King of NY, I had to check your blog out.
Been watching the entire blog and man this is a awesome army! It's full of character and the classicness really has it's charm. I really dig te classic way of basing. This army is amazing mate! Too bad you live on the other side of the world, cause I'd love to battle these gits with my Forest Goblins!
