I have many thoughts on this step. Aside from, well if only they had done this many years ago it can be summed up in one emoticon yarr.gif Should we tell them they've been digital for a while or not?

Well I just checked the store, looks like the Ultramarine painting guide is £3.99, so that seems a likely benchmark.

These releases do look pretty neat, however it would be better if this was a cross platform release, i.e. on pc and android as well as ipad, but maybe that will come later. Ideally it would be built in html5 so it can be viewed in any half decent web browser.

I couldn't exactly make out from the videos if the Space Marine codex for example, included an integrated army list builder, but if it does that would be pretty cool. Never the less I'll be sticking to my laptop and spreadsheet for the time being.

It is good they are doing this, but I won't use it since I also prefer books. ( I do own an Ipad but I use it only for work).

Cheers,

I don't see this happening. The reason for choosing iPad is probably because it has much better security in these kind of releases.

If they'd release it for any kind of PC system it would be for download on a multitude of websites before GW could even update their website saying it's released.

It's a shame though as I don't own and never will own an iPad (though I might see me buying a similar thing which is not vendor-locked on the software)

Whoa, they are charging for these things?!?! If it had been an extra in the marine codex I could see its purpose, an added incentive to stop using the torrented pdf file. But seriously charging for a painting guide? It shows they will try to get money from even the painting guides they used to have on their websote for free. guess they won't be coming back.
GW have once again pulled an all colours of WTF move, shame on them, for once I am hoping this endevour fails and bites them in the ass.

It's certainly disappointing, there used to be free painting tutorials in the army books, even when that stopped that was ok because you could goto the website to read them. To access them now or in future it seems you will need to buy a blooming iPad first. And then pay your £4 sucker-tax.

I will give you guys... Those price tags are extremely harsh! I though that when you bought an army book on the iPad, you would get painting guides, eretta updates, and all sorts of nice stuff, that they didn't put in a normal one. If that isn't the case, paying more than for a book is ridiculous. And those painting guides.... 4 pound? that's extremely expensive... It's almost as expensive as a white dwarf magazine...

Still, I am looking forward to this, but the prices do seam harsh!

I do like the $1 for the monsters, though. Maybe buy just the monsters you want instead of the whole Monstrous Arcanum? I mean, I'd love the whole book, but I can get the rules for just a monster or two for dollars instead of shelling out the whole book.

The whole rule books aren't for everyone, though.

I can't seem to find them on the iphone, though. Are they only ipad?

New Digital Products for June
- Codex: Space Marines. Expanded, fully interactive and now totalling a staggering 324 pages. Comes with searchable glossaries, 360º miniatures galleries, and fully up-to-date rules including all the Space Marine weapons and wargear, such as the new Stormtalon Gunship.

It seems the armybooks and codex' will be updated with new stuff though. Very nice smile.gif

If they had includeded painting instructions into the AB's it would have been well worth the price... it's only the stand-alone painting guides that i think sound horribly expensive.

The points about scrolls of binding is great though smile.gif
