Hiya,
So, I was thinking about how all template weapons and how they affect both rider and mount. So, if a cannon ball hits a character on dragon (for example), the cannon hits both separately. They both roll to get wounded and can both take d6. The same goes for the rock lobba, too. What about the Doom Diver? It has a template and whatever is hit by the template takes d6 wounds. So.....if you roll for the cannon hitting both rider and mount, do you roll d6 for BOTH the rider and the mount? |

The rock lobber only inflicts the high strength hit on either or not both and the other gets hit at the lower strength. As for cannons, do they stop if they don't kill the monster ie. do not hit the rider? Reading over the rules for shooting at ridden monsters I'd have to say the DD only does D6 randomized between the 2 and not a D6 to each.

OK....I read about how a template with 2 different S values only hits one. But....what does that mean for the Doom Diver? A cannonball is a template with one S score and it hits both. Why wouldn't the Doom Diver do d6 to both? I have never played this way, but the thought just struck me. It is a template, right?

If I'm not mistaken, the impact hits inflicted by the doom diver are randomly distributed (1-4 monster, 5-6 rider) as is not exactly a template warmachine. Still, is a good question for being solved on a FAQ.

My previous reply is mostly based on the mount and rider being treated as a single model. The DD rules do say it does not use a template. I know that doesn't mean much when it still hits any units touched by the base, but it does lend to the argument that you don't use the template rules.

Yup, according to RAW the doomdiver is not a template warmachine
