Hey all, it was with great joy that today I received my 2 shiny new boxes of Orc Boar Boys from Maelstrom Games today. I am so impressed with the sculpts, I thought I would share what I found under the lid
For starters, the boars are a thing of beauty compared to the old ones. Say byebye teddybear boars, hello dynamic rampaging tuskers. There are 3 different poses, all with 2 halves, head, lower jaw/tusks and for some strange reason, the ears all seperate pieces. The fur is nicely sculpted, except for the faces, which will look a bit bald unless you are clever with the brush. Each boar has a flat piece attached to one leg that will sit flat on the base for a good stable glue join. I might still drill a length of paperclip into it and up the leg to be safe, we will see. The Orcs themselves come in many parts. There is a torso, which includes a tongue (it sticks out similar to the giant model), two legs split like the Black Orc kit, 5 left arms grabbing a tuft of boar fur (riders that actually hang on!!!) and 5 right arms with no hands. In those hands we can have a muso's horn, a rather nice flaggy standard, the familiar wooden standard, 5 choppas or 5 spears. There are also 8 heads to choose from. The kit also has 6 nice shields, 6 shoulder armour and a nice iron gob. Oh and there is a 'hook' hand for the piratical orc types ![]() All in all I like the look of it all already. The boar halves don't appear to be interchangable, but there is no reason your orcs can't look quite different with various combinations of the kit. I will update this thread with my thoughts after I assemble a few of them. ![]() Hope this is of use to someone. RoV |

Thought i'd pitch in and steal the thread mate!
![]() I love the new boars! The shields are nicely sculpted, the orcs are awesome and the conversion possibilities are incredable! I Bought the Ork Nobz set for bits, and it you clip of the legs of the nobz, the boarrider legs fit great with some greenstuff! I built an orc Warboss on boar, and i will be building some bigbosses too! I will have to buy a fourth box some time to convert my chariots! ![]() I also have the rivertrolls, but that's for another thread! ^^ All in all, i love this new kit. I vote, best warhammer plastic kit ever, actually. Cheers for the thread Rov! Theo |

The only thing I like about them is the price. It is good to see that others are enjoying them though. Maybe I will come around if given enough time. They just look really silly right now though.

Thanks for the replies fellas
![]() Part 2 Well, I have assembled a couple of the boar boyz, and I continue to be impressed. Firstly, I assembled the champion pretty much as the instructions suggested. The parts fit quite well. You could get away with no GS work on the boar, despite the fur and a long join running down it's back. Most of the seam is hidden by the tufts of hair and the orc rider. It will be a bit of work to modify the boar much, but with the new dynamic poses I don't much care Note that the head and lower jaw parts are either A or B, so make sure you get the right jaw on the right head. The orc is nicely done, and GW has rather cleverly hidden most of the joins behind armour, or where there would be muscle deliniation anyway. I did have some trouble with the two leg halves sitting properly, but with a bit of patience it comes up fine, no trimming needed. Again, they wont be easily modified other than the variety of weapons they come with. Having the seperate hand/weapon from the arm is a good thing here. In no time at all I have a dynamic boarboy ready for undercoating. I put the new boarboy next to an old one, and believe me it makes the old one look tame and outdated. I think I may be ordering some more of these beasties! Next update I will make sure there are some pictures. ![]() RoV |

Hey Skartooth, if i had that mindset i would never get anything, i almost never paint! I have like 5% of my stuff painted, and most of that is so old and bad that it must be stripped and repainted. I don't dislike painting, i just can't be bothered now when i'm tired from this little disease of mine! ^^
Myst: I thought the same thing in the beginning, but i checked the pics every day and they grew on me. Let me add that they look MUCH better in real life! The paintjob on the boars on GW's website are pretty crappy IMO... And at RoV: Yeah, the legs are the tricky part! They fit fairly well on ork nob bodies with the legs clipped off, hello plastic warboss! ![]() Theo |

Hi,
i know its an old thread but i think its the right one for my question. the boars look very cool and big, thats right. but if you try to put some in the 2nd rank they are to big for their bases and the first has the head of the second in its ... How do you solve this problem? Joe |
