Heyy everyone,
So I'm new to Da Warpath and returning to Warhammer after many years away.
My favourite army has always been Orcs & Goblins and collected them when I was younger, I've never made an army before and I don't think I've even finished a full unit before so here goes...

A little background info before I give you my army list, I will be elaborating on characters as I post pictures as they all have stories behind them.

Drut towers above the mass of writhing, wooping goblins. Riding atop Spinarax, his terrifying spider ally, he commands the vast horde of the Mouldy Moonz Tribe and upon his enemies he sets his menagerie of monstrous beasts.

This all night goblin army prods forward all manner of terrible creatures into the ranks of the enemy.

Army List
Heroes
(Drut) NG Warboss - Giant Spider, Light armour and Shield
NGBB - Light armour, 2H Weapon
NGBSB - Light armour, Shield
NGShaman - Dispell Scroll
NGShaman -

Core
60 x NG - Full Command, Netters, Spears + Shields, 2 fanatics
20 x NG - Full Command, Netters, HW + Shields, 1 fanatic
20 x NG - Full Command, Bows
5 x Wolf Riders - Full Command, Spears + Bows
10 x Spider Riders Full Command, bows

Special
30 x Squig Herd
30 x Squig Herd
2 x Spear Chukka
6 x Trolls

Rare
Giant
Snotling Pump Wagon
1 x Rock Lobber

Obviously I have left out magical items for my heroes, some heroes would be incorporated into units although I'm not sure who goes where at the moment. From my calculations this army weighs in at around 2000pts give or take a few.

Please give me as much feedback as possible about my army as I really am a beginner; although Ill just be playing for fun it would be nice to have a slightly competitive army that has a slim chance at winning, I know that's a tough ask for gobbos!

Pics to follow soon!!!

the list is pretty cool especially as NG list, love goblins myself so a bit biast there biggrin.gif only issue is that a NG warboss cant take a giant spider for game purposes, NG use squigs underground annoyingly. Also if you truly want a fluffy themed army, you need to leave out the spider riders and wolf riders and the siege stuff, add more trolls, they suit a NG army well, but thats only if you really want a fluffy army

The army is more about the dirty great animals that Drut has somehow managed to cajole into fighting for him.
I'm converting the wolf boys to be sort of mangy, scrawny mountain wolves that live off scraps of food and dwell in the gullies and mountain passes where the Mouldy Moonz reside. Similarly the spider riders and Drut himself are mounted on cave spiders (converted, Drut's is huge!), even my snotling pump wagon is a monster but that's all I'm saying about that one until I get the right pieces to make it. And the siege engines arn't your average chukka/lobber!

Thanks for the comments though I probably should have made my intentions with the army more obvious, do you think it's a fairly balanced army though overall? And what areas do you think need changing?

Welcome to da Warpath, Drut! smile.gif

With "squig herd teams" do you mean 2 herders and 3 squigs, like they're sold? Because in the new list you buy herders and squigs separately. You do have the new armybook, right? This is the one.

Seems like a really cool list I think, shouldn't be hard to do well with. Looking forward to pics!

That army did seem to be from the 7th ed book. Quite a bit in terms of army selection has happened since then. For instance, now you select your lord/hero/core/special/rare choices from a percentage of points based on the size of the game you are playing rather than a certain number of selections. So you can have more lords and heroes in your force if you wish.

I actually recommend you look into adding more heroes if you are playing a full gobbo theme. Spamming cheap characters is one of the advantages playing gobbos brings to the table now. The gobbo characters might not be amazing compared to characters from other armies, but they are decent and dirt cheap. You can get a lot of them for what it costs other players to get just 1-2 heroes.

Squigs are no longer bought in teams of 3 squigs and 2 herders like they used to be. Now you buy each model separately in the unit. A squig costs 8 points and a herder costs 3 points. The only requirements are that you have to have at least 1 herder for every 3 squigs and the unit has to be a minimum of 10 models strong.

The rock lobba is now a rare choice and not a special choice. And all of the magic items in the game are unique, so you can take only one. This includes the dispel scroll. In addition, generic trolls are now a special choice and not a rare, although the stone and river trolls are rare choices.

Another cool thing to note which u should look up is that the snotling pump wagon can be upgraded with extras which make it better and so much more fun
Also, would love to see the conversions for cave spiders

Make sure they are somewhere on the internet

Use Photobucket if you have an account or use tinypic for a one-off pic that's only useable for a certain amount of time.

If you've done this go to the pic and do right-click and "show picture" until you have just the pic without any website and copy the link to this (or right-click - copy image location works).

now reply to something, click the IMG button above the post.
Paste the link in the text-box
Click OK.

Heres some shots of my first wolf rider, not much of a conversion really. just greenstuffed a hood onto his shoulder and a cloak over his shield.

And some assorted infantry. These are by no means finished and need touching up (skin highlights etc), but do bare in mind when commenting that I haven't painted anything for around 8 years so dont be too mean wink.gif

i to only started playing last year (or was it the year before that....) after about 10 years of and my first models back were much worse than those smile.gif

just patience and stealing knowladge from other people on these forums - before i signe dup here i spent a long time and still do looking through the blogs (and not just whizzing to the pictures) theres some good advice for colour schemes in a lot of them)

look forward to seeing more smile.gif

Nice conversion on the wolf rider, your photos have come out really well and your painting shows a good consideration of shading and highlighting. If you want to improve the look of your models keep an eye out for mould lines on the plastic that need to be scraped off. You could also try using one less bright primary colour, this will make them quicker to paint and look more coherent as a unit.

Good first steps back into painting though, keep up the good effort!
