Title: 1,250pts Of The Green Tide
Description: First list in a long time.
ChemicalAgent - July 20, 2012 01:15 AM (GMT)
Greetings my fellow greenskins! I am ChemicalAgent, and I have been out of the hobby for a bit and the gaming side for even longer. I have the hobby bug once again, and finally the time to push some toy soldiers around. With very little 8th edition experience under my belt I need some help on some list building!
I wrote up a small list to serve as a starting point for modeling and collecting my force, and I'm looking to get some feedback. I hope this list will form a good foundation to a larger army as I get more models ready for the battlefield.
On to the list!
-Orc Warboss...176pts
Armor of Destiny, great weapon, Iron Curse Icon.
-Orc Big Boss...97pts
Light armor, shield, BSB, Standard of Discipline.
-Night Goblin Shaman...110
Lvl 2, Dispel Scroll.
-28 Orc Boyz...231pts
Light armor, shield, hand weapon, full command.
-50 Night Goblins...275pts
Shields, hand weapon, netters, 2 Fanatics, full command.
-3 Trolls...105pts
-Rock Lobber...95pts
Orc Bully
-Rock Lobber...95pts
Orc Bully
-Mangler Squig...65pts
Total:1,249pts.
Any feedback would be much appreciated! I'm not going for a super competitive list, but winning a game now and then would be nice too... So I am looking for something playable.
-Cheers

Hey man welcome!
Here are my thoughts on your list
-Warboss, good setup
-BSB needs some protection, I upgraded him to a Black Orc, gave him a shield and tailsmen of preservation which gives him a 4+ward.
-ng shaman good
-The boys seemed a bit weak for my taste. You also dont have anything to hit hard in this list so I upgraded the boys. I have 30 boys, made them big uns, gave them full command, with extra hand weapons, and since they are big uns I was able to give them a the leadership magic standard.
-ng unit, I bumped down the number a bit. I have 43 with shield and spear, netters, full command, and 1 fanatic.
-the three troll are ok, let me know how they work.
-dropped one of the rock lobbers
-and kept the mangler.
Seems like a decent list at 1250. If you wanted to cut down on some points drop the magic standard and the champions, it should save you some points to get a couple extra models. Possibly a chariot or a doom diver. you can also go for a pump wagon. good luck

Man, it took me a while to change up my list and get a game in!
Thanks for the reply DaS! I took some of your advice and took this list into a game this morning against my friend's Empire:
-Orc War Boss...210pts
Armor of Destiny, Biting Blade, Crown of Command.
-Orc Big Boss...130pts
BSB, Enchanted Shield, light armor, hand weapon, Talisman of Preservation.
-Night Goblin Shaman...110pts
Lvl 2, Dispel Scroll.
-28 Big 'Uns...286pts
Full Command, light armor, shields, hand weapon.
(I took shields because the models I was using had shields. In the future I will give Big 'Uns an additional hand weapon.)
-44 Night Goblins...247pts
Musician, Standard Banner, spears, shields, Netters, 2 Fanatics.
-3 Trolls...105pts
-Rock Lobber...95pts
Orc Bully.
-Manglers...65pts
Total: 1,249pts
So, How did the game go? Well! I scored a victory getting almost 700pts and giving up only 280pts. The trolls ended up being a diverting unit by the time it reached the enemy lines because my friend had two cannons, and set up a nice flank charge with my Night Goblins on his spearman bus. But, everything went more or less how I wanted.
The highlight of the game was my Mangler bouncing off the table edge and traveling 16" back toward my line and hitting EVERY UNIT on the table! Luckily for both sides I rolled below average doing 5-6 wounds on each unit. What a great game to start back into the hobby!
-Thanks again for the advice,
CA

Welcome to Da Warpath :yarr!:
It looks like a solid list to start playing with ;). However, I have some suggestions:
-Give a magic banner to those big uns! Common orc boys upgraded to big uns can carry a magic banner, so take advantage of that ;). Standard of discipline or eternal flame are good options here.
-Turn your BSB to a BO. He will control de animosity of your unit, always something handy.
-Last but not list, your list have no diverters. Start with a unit or two of wolf riders. With spears and shields they can do lot of different tasks: warmachine hunting, chaff killing and diverting. As soon as your start playing them, the better!
