Title: Alternative Trolls
Description: how do reaper match up alongside GW?

Biggrin - June 20, 2012 07:28 AM (GMT)
Hey all,

Looking to bulk up on a few more trolls for my waaagh but would like a unit that isn't river trolls posing as normal trolls... so i've been looking at a few different options, almost all of my army is GW at the moment so ideally they need to fit that look and scale.
these from reaper seemed to fit the bill,

but i can't find an indication of size or scale anywhere, does anyone own any of these and have pics of how they compare in scale to GW trolls?

cheers

Hey mate. I owned those at one point, and they're a bit small actuallyGamezone miniatures have made some REALLY cool trolls which fit the bill those. I'll just post some pics :) (the pics work as LINKs, so you can press them to go for more pics :))

The other reaper trolls are a bit small so i used those as unit fillers until i sold them:

You should note that my orcs are nearly as bulky as GW orcs, so I don't think these two trolls are much bigger than GW black orcs.

I've got one troll by Reaper (it's from the Pathfinder line) in with my GW ones. It fits in really well. Here are some pics (don't have a side-by-side so you have to take the base as a size reference). First is the Reaper one, second is the GW one.

I have the second troll you linked, and while I haven't done anything conclusive, I think it is about the same size as the BfSP troll, it's just that the skull pass troll looks bigger because its arms are over its head.

Although if you want bigger, try their frost/ice troll (the one with small horns holding a rock over it's head in one hand). Still on a 40mm base, but a fair bit larger than the BfSP troll and only half the price of a GW one.

Mantic will be releasing trolls in the future as part of their kickstarter. This is probably still some way off, but the concept sketches look nice.
