a defeated flier who breaks do they fly or run?
as in
flyer swooping charges over a screening unit to attack the unit behind, and breaks does it get destoryed by the screening unit behind it(but not in B2B contact) or does it "hop" over as its flying?

Ah, this one I know! Page 70 mate, they always move on the ground when fleeing AND pursuing.

Well you know how flappy birds are when they're scared and try to get away. We could assume that he's in this state when trying to escape.

Remember you only take dangerous terrain tests for fleeing through an enemy unit.
