Title: My Greenskins

Goofycabal - June 12, 2012 07:57 AM (GMT)
Okay, so I've got a blog here covering my Warhound Titan (which I REALLY need to get back to working on) and my other sundry Chaos Forces, but I just realised I don't have a blog detailing my most important army: My Greenskins!

So, I figured I should rectify this...

It wouldn't be a blog without some wip pictures, so I'll start off with some (unfortunately grainy / a little blurry) shots of my current project:

First up, a Great Cave Squig. This guy's going to the mount for a Night Goblin Big Boss/Warboss. The legs and tail are from the Saurus Cold One and the head is from a Tyranid (Carnifex I think...). The rest is greesntuff. Nowhere near finished yet...

And this leads me to the other related unit: My Mangler Squig :)

These guys are based on Saurus Cold Ones too, one with another Carnefix head and the other with the Chaos head from the Giant sprue. And a heap of greenstuff again. The fellow with the Giant's head is pretty much finished I think. I don't know if I'll do anything more to it. (Well aside from afixing the 'crew' - who are on their way to me in the post...).

That's all I've got photos of at the moment... (Aside from finished stuff that I've already posted elsewhere, but I may put them here for the sake of completeness anyway).

Very nice conversion work there, I especially like the Giant head Mangler

Cheers - same here actually :D

I'm kinda worried that the other two are going to turn out looking a little pants, to be honest  But I'm going to persevere with them nonetheless!

Great conversions, I expecially like the giant cave squig :D

Great work!
Once I get to squigs I will definitely make them from cold one parts.
I like the look!

Perhaps you can remedy this by not sculpting a whole face but making them some armour.

This should be easier than flesh and you can incorporate some shields and similar bits.

Maybe it will be easier that way

That might be a good plan for the Great Cave Squig :D He still needs a 'saddle' and the rider, so that'll cover a lot of his back, but armour plating on his head could be a good plan!

As for the other half of the Manglers, I need to sculpt a whole heap of scales onto him, so I think that should make him look better too. Just, as it stands, they look kinda like failed shark sculpts <_<

That's a really nice idea. well executed :)

Nice conversions Goofycabal, I'm looking forward to the next update.

Altough it is a shame you only started a blog now, I think it deserves a raise of your warn level.

Cheers,
G

Very good point :)

Unfortunately, Admins don't have a Warn Level bar... <_<

Good sculpts.

If there's a part you're not happy with, cover it up with something or do it over. Scales are great for covering up as they are easy to get right.

Hey Goofy, do you remember me? If not, nevermind, it was back in 2004 when I joined the forum.

I can't believe you don't have a log of your greenskins here. That said, I started mine not so long ago too, whereas I've been a member for years like you.

Your manglers and giant squigs are cool, the parts you used to create them are well chosen.

Looking nice! They kind of remind me of Terry Gilliam artworks, especially the giant headed one. The sort of weird and twisted style he had with his animation.

Goofycabal - June 18, 2012 01:08 AM (GMT)
@azhagmorglum: Yup, I remember you :) I think most of the reason I haven't started a Blog until now is that most of my Greenskins were pretty much put together (sans paint) when we first started the Blog forum...

@Turelio: Now that you mention it, yeah, I can totally see that with the giant-head one! Strangely, the other two are sort of reminding me of sharks at this stage.
