Title: Da Buchrs Horde

carson - June 9, 2012 08:07 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone. New to these parts and all but have been an avid wargamer for over 20 years. I've always wanted to build an O&G army, have had the models forever, but have never put paint to them competely. I have many current projects on the go, but I am determined to finish this one asap.

If anyone is so inclined they can check out my hobby blog (address in my signature).

Couple of pics to show what I have done so far.

Black Orcs.... (mainly black orc metals mixed with some 40k and even a mounted shamen for variety)

Welcome to da Warpath, i only can say:
 Oh i'm in love now,
that's one marvellous Waagh! great paintjob and conversions

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - June 9, 2012 09:57 PM (GMT)
Wow just wow, all these units/characters look so nice.

Any chance we get some more angles from them.

And of course welcome to da-warpath, enjoy your stay here.

Cheers,
G

Great looking army so far, the dark colors and the lighter skin on your units realy make them pop. Cant wait to see more of your Waaagh! come together.

Welcome to Da Path

Thitanium Prince - June 10, 2012 12:06 AM (GMT)
Some great conversions completed by an awesome paintjob: really marvellous army :D can't wait to see more ^^

Morten C - June 10, 2012 09:27 AM (GMT)
WOUW that is cool!!! :o :o

More! MOAAAR!!!!

carson - June 10, 2012 06:13 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the warm welcome and words. I'll get a few more close-ups/angles soon. I realized after that I missed pics of my troll unit in the previous post.

Non GW reaper.....I used to be 100% GW but have since learned that there are other good minis out there that don't cost your first born to buy.

Here is the orc horde that I started on some time ago....15 more to go to finish it off. You'll notice a "on foot" version of Gortuuf in the front rank along with an orc shamen on the far right.

The reaper trolls unit is really superb, I'd love to see also the rear rank :D
And I'm truly in love with the scheme you used for the boyz ^^

Craze_b0i - June 10, 2012 07:40 PM (GMT)
Wow great stuff. I'd love to see some larger pics of the black orc unit and orc boyz unit. :)

Shadowlord - June 11, 2012 01:42 PM (GMT)
Serious grimey and excellent painting - me likey!

Noisy Assassin - June 11, 2012 01:49 PM (GMT)
Woooooooooooow.

I'm definitely lovin' it. The BSB especially is very impressive. Could we get a close-up of the flag?

GrinninGobbo - June 11, 2012 02:13 PM (GMT)
Looks like this is going to be one hell of a good looking army, really digging the grimey feel, its dark but not too dark and the splashes of yellow really help draw your eye and make the minis 'pop' :)

As other have said some close ups would be real nice to see, especially of the foot version of Gortuuf, looks like a real nice conversion from what I can see.

Keep It up, GG :)

Klavier - June 11, 2012 04:47 PM (GMT)
:) wow, i'm still amazed by your army,
i'd like to se more pics of your bsb on boar,,,,

amplebob - June 11, 2012 06:59 PM (GMT)
Really great stuff man. Loving the skin and the overall dark look of your force. The bsb is particularly excellent.

carson - June 13, 2012 03:09 AM (GMT)

Man.... that looks amazing... I can't even point out something that i find better than other, it just all looks so nice. Even the Orc boys look absolutely fantastic...

Keep it up :)

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - June 13, 2012 05:07 PM (GMT)
Awesome looking stuff, keep up the great work.

Cheers,
G

So, I'm still working my way through the boyz horde (7 left....yes!) but I though I would share this night goblin bsb. Certainly not original but when I first saw it done I knew I had to have one!

Great looking BSB! What Banner is that hes holding?

Thitanium Prince - June 24, 2012 10:22 AM (GMT)
I think it's the ogre standard :)
Anyway it's great :D And I like a lot the warboss conversion!

carson - July 16, 2012 01:14 AM (GMT)
Sorry about the lack of reply but yes it is an ogre standard. Not original to me at all but thats what the forums are for.....

So I finally finished up the Orc horde....what a marathon of painting that was. Back in the day that would of been 2 full units. Next up on the block are another couple of conversion/projects.

A WIP of a squig unit and a rock lobber based on the Skaven warplighting cannon.

Nice WIPs, looking forward to the finished results
That rock lobber is an impressive siege weapon :o

Paiant Slapah - July 16, 2012 03:39 PM (GMT)
Awesome conversion idea on the rock lobber.

Morten C - July 16, 2012 03:51 PM (GMT)
Uh, LOVE the BSB. That is one simple yet great conversion!:yarr!:

As for your Rock lobber, I think it's a nice model, but the base seams very impractical. You should consider giving it a round base before painting it! :)

And the squigs are really nice as well. It'll definitely be my approach as well, whenever I start my goblins.

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - July 16, 2012 07:27 PM (GMT)
The bsb looks so awesome. The squigs and rock lobber look promising to.

Cheers,
G

dragonslayer45 - July 19, 2012 05:26 PM (GMT)
Can we get pics of your new horde? :)

Theo

EntertainMe - July 20, 2012 09:14 AM (GMT)
Great models mate!

I really like your rock lobba! The squigs are good as well.

QUOTE (Morten C @ Jul 16 2012, 05:51 PM)
the base seams very impractical.

Why is this? The base is almost never used.
Except for measuring (which is going to go fine) and if a war machine shoots the lobba (where any base would be unpractical because it just makes the footprint bigger).

BTW I have used round bases but that was just because I had some old Cd's lying around.

Drut - July 31, 2012 12:52 PM (GMT)
LOVE the squigs, how did you make them!?

carson - August 24, 2012 04:15 AM (GMT)
Wow, life really put a kink in the hobby this last while, sorry for the lack of replys or posts...

squigs are the new plastic horrors with arms left off, green stuff will fill in gaps which are minimal.

This is what they will grow into....if they survive that is.

I really like the extreme contrast between the skin tones and the robes and clothes. Your freehand is resally nice and clean too but still looks dirty and used like a good orc horde should be.

The mangler looks nice but its a bit dark and hard to make soem of the details out on it.

Can't wait to see more.

Gornak

BorkBork - August 24, 2012 09:23 AM (GMT)
i love your mangler!! Great dark and gritty painting.

and i seem to have missed your blog until now. Great looking army.

unwanted - August 24, 2012 04:51 PM (GMT)
That's some amazing Orcs an Gobbos. Also, the terrain, it's yours too? And are there more pics?

carson - August 25, 2012 11:59 PM (GMT)
I'll post up an army shot with the battle board I'm working on. Thanks for all the replys and input. Next up, a special ed. Orc warboss and a completed lobba.
