Title: 2k Woc (throgg & Trolls)
Description: Thoughts needed, COTEC gone silent

Malleus - June 6, 2012 09:39 AM (GMT)
Not sure if this is in the right place but here goes, been playing around with my WoC book as well as a pen and paper and have come up with the following list, I was wanting to have a couple of lists where I can use the majority of my Trolls (9) so obviously O&G and WoC

I have had this list up on Dakka, COTEC (WoC Forum) and a couple of other places for about a month and had a grand total of 1 reply (which was drop the trolls and get more marauders ZOMFG are you a git? guess what forum that was on?) so now I thought I'd throw it out there to the general green population.

Sorcerer Lord - 379 pts
Mark of Tzeentch, Chaos Steed, Level 3,Infernal Puppet, Talisman of Endurance, Crown of Command

Exalted Hero - 216 pts
Battle Standard Bearer, Chaos Steed, Shield, Mark of Tzeentch, Biting Blade, Talisman of Preservation

Throgg - 175 pts

8 Trolls - 360 pts

5 Chaos Warhounds - 30 pts

5 Chaos Warhounds - 30 pts

40 Chaos Marauders - 242 pts
Great Weapon, Mark of Khorne, Mus, Std

6 Chaos Knights - 270
Mus, Std

3 Chaos Ogres - 145
Additional Hand Weapons, Chaos Arour, Mus

Chaos Warshrine - 150 pts
Mark of Tzeentch

Total 1997 Points

My thoughts are, I place the Warshrine and Marauders as centrally as possible thus forming my 'unshifting' flank I then place the rest of my army on one of the other flank.

My opponant is then faced with an entire flank overloaded with hard hitting and monstrous infantry that they then have to deal with, all with roughly 70% of their total force (in my experience people tend to deploy from flank inwards)

Throgg gives my Trolls, Hounds and Ogres leadership 8 and all are within range on my BSB and General for the all important re rolls.

The trolls once I start rolling regeneration (2 a turn) will start to get rolls on the eye of the gods table to get more and more nasty.

Hounds are screens and chaff hunters, I don't really see much point of upping them to posioned attacks or scaly skin as they're there to die and help my trolls and ogres get into the fray as unmolested as possible, while hopefully getting a couple of rolls on EOTG.

Not really sure on the Lore choice was thinking metal so I can get a couple of scaly skin saves on the trolls and ogres and hounds, maybe even the marauders if they're in range. Either that or Death so I can affect the enemies leadership and make those important tests all the more difficult.

Unit wise Throgg and Trolls are in a 3x3 formation so that I have to lose a grand total of 9 wounds before I start losing attacks, Maruaders go into a bus, Knights plus characters 5+3, warhounds screen and the Chaos Ogres either 3 wide or 1 wide and 3 deep depending on what is needed, they're typically what gets thrown into the flank of what the marauders are tarpitting to free them up and tie down the next issue coming my way.

I'd drop the Marauders, and add in some Chaos Warriors with halberds and mark of Tzeentch.

My most recent opponent has almost stopped using Marauders since all they do is die. 6 wide Warriors are a lot more manoeuvrable than 10 wide marauders. And they last longer.

If you drop the Ogres as well you can have 18-19 warriors with halberds, the rage banner and mark of tzeentch. That hits hard. :)

Maruaders are typically 5x8 I don't see the point in using horde rule on anything apart from 100 Night Goblins or Bretonnian Archers, they're not really there to hurt stuff but to stay steadfast and hold up a flank with the aid of the Warshrine.

Also just realised that I have to run Lore of Tzeentch otherwise I lose the benfit of the Mark, it really does help to read and re read the army book and FAQ
