Title: Yalb - Yet Another List Builder 0.7beta15
Description: Free roster editor for Warhammer Fantasy
Danielc - February 11, 2012 05:17 PM (GMT)
Notice: I'm porting yALB to C++ now and it will be free and open source software (cross plattform also). You may follow or help with its development in this project page:
http://code.google.com/p/yalbHi everybody!.
My name is Daniel Castro. I'm developing a free list editor called yALB. It was initially designed in Spanish, but most texts are translated to English and also many armies are added for the English version. Yet Another List Builder requires at least .Net Framework 3.5 installed in your PC (preinstalled in Windows 7).
As not all armies are added, it would be good to have some extra help adding armies. I can explain the whole how to do it, if you're interested :) . Added armies are below!
Main Features:- yALB can validate your army list based on Warhammer Book and Army Book, in real time (everytime you add, remove or change units in your list).
- Intuitive interface. You can see both your list and Army's units easily and add anyone you want by simply double clicking or pressing a special button in the program (+)
- Item and Unit options support. Of course, yALB validates their special rules (for example all the rules of Runes in Dwarfs)
- Save/Open/Print or Export your army list to PDF or HTML.
- Autoupdate
- Chart based on your balance of units (by types)
- Probability Calculator (by choza, from a Colombian forum). This tells what possibilities you have to hit or hurt an enemy unit, based on their atributes.
- Victory Points Calculator, that tells you who is the winner based on killed units and other values like Standarts and killed enemy's leader. This calc needs to be updated, as it was designed to work with 7th edition. I think it will be fully compatible with 8th edition in next version.
- Miniatures count.
- Duplicate, Move Up or Move Down units.
- Assigned picture for each unit.
- You may set a background for the aplication and enable transparencies.
- You can select multiple units and add them pressing the button "+" in the program
- You can add or subtract miniatures to multiple units by pressing "+" or "-" buttons in yALB
Current armies:- Dwarfs (Spanish: 7th edition and 8th edition, English: 8th edition)
- High Elves (English only: 8th edition)
- Lizardmen (Spanish and 7th edition only)
- Orcs & Goblins (7th edition spanish, 8th edition english)
- Warriors of Chaos (English only: 8th edition, rulebook 7th edition and latest FAQ, by Jon Leigh)
- Dark Elves (English only: 8th edition, rulebook 7th edition, by Christian Spring)
- Tomb Kings (English only: 8th edition by Jimmy)
- Bretonnia (English only: 8th edition, rulebook 7th edition by West Ely)
In progress- The Empire (by UNREALPwnage) - 8th english (rulebook 8th and armybook 7th)
- Daemons of Chaos (by Nicholas Hasenbein)
Clarifications and/or explanations:- When you have units with champions or similar and you have 5 warriors and 1 champion, it should be interpreted as one of the five miniatures is a champion (so you only "pay" for 5 miniatures, not for 6).
- You must consider the points value of each row, so if you have a unit with a points value of 300 and a champion with a points value of 15, the full unit costs 315, not 300
- To add Items, select the unit, click on Items Button and double click the item you want to add
ScreenshotsYou can see some screenshots following
this link. Please note these are taken from an old development version (and in Spanish), so the current version may vary (for example: the alignment is now fixed, there is a little space in printing, etc).
Additional informationAs for now yALB only works in Windows and requires .Net Framework 3.5 installed. I'm working on the cross-platafform (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X) version, but it will take sometime.
Helping with yALBAs yALB lacks support for all armies, you can help me by adding new armies. If you want to help, I'll be glad to provide you all information needed. If you don't want to add armies, you can help by reporting bugs, so I can fix them in next beta/version. My mail is dancas2 AT gmail.com

Thank you theorox!
Seems like no one else is interested :S

Give them sometime to notice tiyr topic first...
It does look interesting...
amplebob - February 13, 2012 12:07 AM (GMT)
I downloaded this yesterday.
I really like it. Nice, detailed program with lots of useful functions. I especially love the ability to just print out your list with all the stats you need. Brilliant!
notes:
- There's still lots in spanish that I dont understand
- I dont seem clever enough to find where the army template lists are stored so that I can edit them
If I could edit the Orc and goblin army template it needs these changes:
- Squig herd minimum unit sizes (at the moment you have to have a minimum of 10 goblins and 10 squigs)
- Pump wagon options - you can only pick one at the moment.
That's what i've noticed for now. I really do think its good and would recommend it.
Danielc - February 13, 2012 12:43 AM (GMT)
Thanks for your comments!
- I'm aware there's a lot of the program in Spanish, but hopefully the main part is translated. I'm developing a new version designed with multilanguage and multigame in mind, so it will be fully in english.
- To edit armies you need to download
this file in the same folder of yALB and execute it. Then you can edit units under Tools -> Unit creator.. But the editor is in Spanish, so maybe I should fix it.. Could you tell me which are the fixes to implement?
Thank you very much!
Greetings

I'm assuming this is a OK place to submit bugs or similar? Because looking at my list I have an orc Bigboss set up in the following manner:
Orc Bigboss
Battle Standard Bearer
Armour of Destiny
War Boar
wich gives him a 2+ Armour save. In the list it says he's got a 1+ armour save, since it's counting the Light armour he has as standard. The Armour of Destiny should replace the Light armour. I understand that that would probably be a bit hard to program, but just thought I'd mention it. :)

Sure!
As you say, it is a little tricky for the current yALB, but there is a workaround, so don't worry! I will fix it probably this weekend!

Hi everybody!
I released a new beta featuring some Orc's fixes..
I have not fixed the issue reported by Theo yet, it will solved with yALB C++ probably..
Greetings!

Hope you enjoy it

The updated version is better. Has got rid of several of the orc and goblin blogs. Would be nice if some of the stats pages were in english and there was a page that gave you a bare bones of your list without all the stats.
But overall, I do really like this program. Great work.

Hi amplebob!
Thanks for your comment.. Your suggestion seems to be pretty easy to implement.. But how should it look like? Should it include descriptions?
If you could post an example, it would probably be easier for me to implement it.
Thank you very much!

Excellent app - use it all the time - any idea's when more armies will be added? - ideally Lizardmen? - I could help if needed (assuming its simple to do)
Danielc - July 9, 2012 04:40 PM (GMT)
Hi rutnut!
As for know, I don't know if someone is adding Lizardmen.. There are people working on Skaven and Bretonnia, I think.. So it would be great if you could help by adding Lizardmen.. I can explain everything you need. It is not that hard..
If you want to help, please send me a mail or a PM so I can provide you the instructions.
Thank you very much!

Hi,
What i was talking about is:
It takes about 3 sheets of paper to print a 2400point army list. Its cool cause it is very detailed and has everything you need on it.
What i'd like is just a summary sheet of the army, without all the details...
It would look something like this:
Savage orc warboss - sword of striking, potion of strength - 200
Night goblin shaman - level 2, dispel scroll - 110
50 night goblins - spears, full command, nets, 1 fanatic - 250
Squig herd - 20 squigs, 10 goblins - 190
Goblin wolf chariot - - 50
Orc boar chariot - - 85
Doom diver - - 80
Magler squig - - 65
Do you think it'd be possible for the program to automatically create something like that?
It'd mean you could just print the list on one page, and get a much easier overview of what you have.
Danielc - July 28, 2012 04:48 PM (GMT)
Right.. I think I can implement it.
But right now I'm a bit busy.. I'll release a new beta as soon as I can.
Greetings

Great work man. Thanks for putting in the update. I'll check it out and give you my thoughts.
I'm using this program a lot of the time now, and I really recommend it.
