Title: Da-warpath's Unit Filler Comp Results!

Snikpik - January 17, 2012 07:00 PM (GMT)
So its time to announce the winner.

For your information, just in case you missed em:

The 1st (Warboss conversion) competition can be seen here. The entries here. The results for that are here.

The 2nd (Big Gribblie conversion) competition can be seen here. The entries can be seen here. The poll here. The results here.

Morkmillian won that one with a Giant of a conversion. Part of the prize is the ability to select the theme for the next competition. To that end Morkmillian had chosen Unit fillers/diorama's. That competition can be seen here.

And we have a winner! (yeah yeah I know what your thinking "but we already could see the winner in the poll here, d'oh!") Oh anyway:

Da Winner!

Entry 2

Noisy Assassin. Well done. Now its your job to think up the theme for the next da-warpath hobby competition!

A close up 2nd place was:

Da 2nd place!
Entry 3

Xellpher. Well done and bad luck. I really liked the goblin being shot at. I also like the little patch of mushrooms. A greenskin unit filler with out mushrooms is like, well like Gin and tonic with out the gin, I suppose.

In third place was, well it was a three way tie:

Da 3rd place!

Entry 1

I voted for you Kees! I liked the giants head witht he squig leaping over it. I just like Squigs I guess.

Also Anton's. Now this is what I call a proper unit filler, with all the Goblins; no half measures here and no one can call you a cheap skate. Well if they do, poke em in the eye with a gobliny spear and I doubt they will say it again. Highlight of the filler is the fanatic about to be hurled out, nice.

And Kurgan's piraty entry. (Rumour has it that there is a ban on pirate themes in the next comp! ;) ) I am also guessing that the Orc on the ground is shouting up "Oi Oglokx dat be a big spy glass you's got der, when's it my turn?"

I would also like to point out Big Mike's entry no 4. Okay it didnt win, but it was such a novel idea. Some one ought to highlight his waaagh to GW and see if they like his theme.

Well done every one actually. I liked em all but I only gave myself 3 votes so some one had to win. Now on to the next comp, Noisy Assassin, what will it be? I dont mind thrashing out ideas on here but please pm me your final decision first, cheers.

Gratz Noisy.

A well deserved win, although none of you would have stood a chance if i had finished my filler (entry 9). ;)

amysrevenge - January 17, 2012 07:17 PM (GMT)
I believe I picked the top 3, so really that makes me the winner. :P

Groznit Goregut - January 17, 2012 08:35 PM (GMT)
Awesome! Good job to the winners! I am happy I got votes, to be honest. I didn't even vote for myself! I didn't want to be cheesy.

Noisy Assassin - January 17, 2012 10:07 PM (GMT)
Woo! Well played everyone. There was some really cool stuff on here, and voting for my favorites was really hard. A big thanks to everyone who gave me their vote! And a HUGE thanks to Snikpik for putting this all on!!!

As for the next theme, it looked like there was some rumbling about doing Shamans (or other casters if you really want to be un-green) at the end of the last competition before unit fillers was chosen. I'm leaning strongly toward doing that unless someone manages to give me a better idea. Snikpik, is it okay if I wait a day or two for ideas to come in before sending you my final choice?

Craze_b0i - January 17, 2012 10:10 PM (GMT)
Congrats all, it was a really good field of entries. :)

For next time one possible idea, it could be cool to see dioramas eg. you could make it 'fighting scenes' with 2 or more models.

Congrats Noisy Assassin! I really like the dynamics you fit around the rock, with the goblin out finding lunch. :D

And thanks to those of you who voted for my entry (number 10). I'm sorry I didn't get it finished, but my idea was too cool to not enter. B)

Morkmillian - January 18, 2012 01:18 AM (GMT)

Nice one Noisy Assassin. I'll just have to try harder next time.

Thanks to everyone that vote for my entry and thanks to Snikpik for organizing it.

Kees (aka Ghenkadh) - January 18, 2012 03:14 PM (GMT)
... a really great winner, Noisy! When it was on the site, I was glad I still got some votes! Also regarding the other entrans. Some great ideas and fine converting!
Thanks for organising this competition Snikpik.
Curious about the next competition, Noisy, make it a fine one!

grtz,

Kees

Well done Noisy Assassin - a well-deserved win!
Everyone work was very impressive though - tough choices to vote.
I really wish I could have painted mine but I had a fatal combination of trouble with the conceptual stage (once I'd thought of what I wanted to make, I couldn't figure out how to make it!), and ideas for other projects filling my head (my new warband - The Chimeras).
Next comp though, I pull my finger out and get something finished!

Another theme you could do next is 'wounded warriors'. Basically convert a rank and file model(s) that has been killed/wounded by the enemy in some fashion.

Nice idea but alas Noisy Assassin has already decided on the next comp. I will be posting it up later today...

Just got back from being away. (at CanCon 2012). Great to see "Noisy" won. I really liked it in that it combined lots of things in one. The spearmen, the little squig sneaking up looking for an opportunity and the other guy fighting with a bug. and then we get to how good was done. I ain't that good and didn't expect a win, just wanted a laugh with what I put in.

And I got that at CanCon 2012. At every game ( I played Chaos Dwarfs ), I plonked my entry down first, right in the centre, just to break the ice and start yakking.

Every one loved it as well as any passers bye. and I admit, we know the paint job ain't great great. But it got good laughs ... and here's the best part ..... Except from the dwarf players.
