Da Warpath’s Unit Filler/Diorama Competition entries

Remember to look carefully before voting. You get 3 votes, use them wisely!

So, its time for da-warpath members, to vote for the winner of our unit filler/diorama competition. Most of you will have seen our previous competitions. If you haven’t seen them I suggest you go and have a look.

The 1st (Warboss conversion) competition can be seen here. The entries here. The results for that are here.

The 2nd (Big Gribblie conversion) competition can be seen here. The entries can be seen here. The poll here. The results here.

Morkmillian won that one with a Giant of a conversion. Part of the prize is the ability to select the theme for the next competition. To that end Morkmillian had chosen Unit fillers/diorama's. That competition can be seen here.

SO here are the entries:

I like them all, shame I have to limit the votes to 3 only. I especially like entry 9, just a shame it wasnt finished in time.

Can't wait to see what the next competition theme will be.

Incidently I have been impressed with all the enthusiasm that you have all put in to these competitions and would like to that all those that have entered each comp.

auch, very hard choice. There really isn't a single bad one.

I really like the more suttle fillers little entry 1 & 6 (real fillers). However, i voted for the more diorama like fillers that tell a bit of a story. Which i always consider quite hard to achieve.

so i voted for:

entry 2. because of the excellent composition.
entry 3. because i just can see that really happening. and the quality of the painting etc.
entry 5. paint and modelling wise not the best of the lot, but Kera...euh that dwarf surely deserved a whipping.

One of my votes was for entry number 8. For some reason, something in one of the WiP pictures just screamed out my name... :P

All the entries are great - it's hard to decide. Even though a few of them haven't got paint on them, it doesn't detract from the inspired idea behind their construction!

Sooo hard to decide!

In this competition I don't think lack of paint have detracted from the quality of the submissions. Though I might be biased...

In the end I had to let my imagination play out the scene in each filler and vote for the ones that did/will make the unit stand out even more.

I voted for 2, 3 and 6. Shame number 9, 10 and especially 8 weren't finished, they look great. :)

I'm not going to say who I voted for. But ones that were not painted were lower on my personal list.

One thing I have to say is that one of the entries, while nothing wrong with it, didn't fit my idea of a unit filler/diorama. More of just several normal mini's on a larger base.

Wow,these are all really good actually :)

I voted for 1, 2 & 3.

Great job with the competition snikpik :)

Hmmm....not all the entries are there....

Ive added my votes, just have to say I absolutely love 6 though. Not so much a unit filler as a dynamic base, as it contains all the models that would normally be there but makes the unit look so more... gobliny! I love the look of the green tide of night goblins winding its way down the mountain like a stream, a disorganised rabble with the gleaming silvered steel blades popping up to show just how dangerous it could be. Definitely doing my NGs like that! :D

Lots of great stuff here. Glad we could see some cool stuff come in at the last minute, even though it all didn't get painted. Would really love to see entry #8 especially once it's fully done and painted.

Wow some amazing entries when you look at them all together.

Voted 1,2 and 3! That may sound arbitrary but it just happened that the first 3 were also my favourites. My criteria was that they would all fit well within a unit while also adding something extra to how that unit looked.

Entry 1: I like the use of terrain bitz on the base and squig munching severed arm! Only the giant head looked out of place the way its just sat there, if I were to leave it in I would have a squig feeding on it.

Entry 2: I love all the little details like the mushrooms, fallen leaves and the spider. The squig looks pretty tame so in my mind he's their regimental mascot.

Entry 3: Target practice on a goblin, why not? :)

*In future comps I don't think we should be able to vote unfinished entries, no disrespect to anyone. It's just hard to judge which is the best if some are finished and some are not.

Snikpik - January 10, 2012 03:47 PM (GMT)
It seems that some of the entries are missing. I apologise for this. The reasons I will give is that people dont always send me the pitures in the manner I mentioned in the original thread or all at once and therefore I get confused as to which pictures I have recieved and saved on to my PC and photbucket account. Anyway, I am adding the lost ones on now...

If people feel that the poll should be run again then please say so.

I dont know, I tend to disagree as it will severly limit the number of entries we have and I suspect people will mostly vote for finished ones anyway. However in saying that, I will go with what the majority wants in future competitions. :)

Please accept my apologies but a re-vote is now under way as one of the entries was lost.

You can see the re-vote here.
