New Years Resolution Thread 2012


Thanks goes to Skartooth The Third for having run the new years resolution threads the last two years however it is about time we had one for 2012! :) So let us know what hobby related resolutions you will be making for 2012 and at the end of the year we shall see who is Orc or Goblin (or Snotling) enough to fullfill them.


There are no rules, but my advice is to think of realistic goals or else you may risk loosing motivation.


* There is no time limit to post your resolution or to join in the fun; we dont want to stifle any creative hobby enthusiasm.


Please post your resolution on this thread and I will up date this first post with the list.


Feel free to keep us posted here or in your army blog so we know how you are getting a long.

Snikpik - convert up a Wyvern with selection of shaman and boss riders. Convert a mounted boss and an Orc Shaman. Add 3 more converted Trolls to my trio. And of course, get more games in.

Noisy Assassin - handful of conversions to make a fully painted 2.5K all-gobbo army! :wub:
Anton - Paint 200 Orcs and Goblins and some Ogres! :huh:
Morkmillian - paint 2000 points of O&G including Gorbad, Grom, an Arachnok and finish rebasing the rest of my army thats currently painted.
Groznit Goregut - Warhammer Fortress that has been neglected for a few years, My siege tower and siege attacker set, Chapel, Fences set I bought when they first came out, Giant Spider with Goblin Boss on it.

Xellpher - Get and paint 40 strong squig unit. Get and paint 40 strong savage unit. Finish giant. Assemble and paint Azhag.
lambobolt - paint 1000 points of core stuff (for greenskins, vampires, and warriors of chaos so i can finish atleast one army....) finish tourney comp for greenskins and either vampires or warriors (warriors will be easy once I finish the core stuff from the first one above) finish display board for greenskins, participate in 4 rogue tourneys (as either player or organizer) attend 2 GTs this year. :yarr!:

Mostyn - Paint 40 figures for my Goblin army. Paint at least 60 figures in total next year. Paint twice as many figures as I buy in the year.

Ideally I'll have my Dwarves done by the end of Janurary.

Enter my first Golden Demon entry. Build, convert & paint my new army for this years tournament scene (tossing up between a cult of Ulric army using the WoC book or a hard as nails steam-punk-esque mixed greenskin list) and get some more commission work doing what I love doing: converting the smeg out of things!

Decapitate my warboss and stick on a new head. Finish painting my last few OnG units plus any new stuff I buy.

Since I failed for the new years resolution of 2011 I'm going to give it a new try in 2012.

I want to get some decent painted orcs for my army so I'm going to paint this for my army( and of course some gobbos but these aren't included in the new years resolution).

Orc big boss with additional choppa
25 Orc boyz with additional choppa, fc
Savage big boss
40 Savage big'uns, fc, additional choppa.

I hope I will make my resolution in 2012, just like in 2010.

I'm going to try and go from a handful of conversions on my desk to a fully painted 2.5K all-gobbo army!

Well, I'm going to start off next year doing some Ogres and while I did that last year too, I don't think I'll paint quite as many greenskins as I did this year so I'll settle for a bit less. I still need to keep the ball rolling though, so:

Alright....I'm in! Last year my list was modest, but I also said it when I knew the new book was coming out and I didn't know what was in it. I barely got it done! So, with that tradition (of not knowing what the heck I'm going to do this year) I have a list of things I should paint:

-Warhammer Fortress that has been neglected for a few years
-My siege tower and siege attacker set
-Chapel
-Fences set I bought when they first came out
-Giant Spider with Goblin Boss on it.

I've had some of this stuff sitting around for years. With the new siege rules, I really should use it!

Convert my unit of 50 Big'Uns. That's all, I really think I'm gonna need freedom to do whatever I want this year. :)

So for 2012:

This is the time of the year again, not for making resolutions but for Da Kaptain to mkae resolutions and then fail to come across on any of them! I make my own bed and its always way more populated than I can realistically do in years time. So here goes this years list of disappointments!

Convert and Paint 40 Boarboys (20 of each Pig and Savage Pig)
Convert and Paint BroadPaunch 'Ardgit (Warboss on Boar)
Convert and Paint 100 Common Goblins
Convert and Paint 40 Wolfriders

Thats my short list! I have more that I can do but for now this core of models has been with me for some time now and I have never finished them. So that is my goal for 2012. If I am able to get these done, I think I will have earned that carrot badge!

Also as a side project I am going to work towards updating the Grudge of Sheer thread also, but that takes backseat to the painting above! 2012 is going to be a busy one for Da Kaptain but I have got to do this, or die in the attempt!

I will:

As the Kaptain said, another year, another list of stuff I won't achieve. But, trying to be less specific than last year:

Paint 40 figures for my Goblin army.
Paint at least 60 figures in total next year.
Paint twice as many figures as I buy in the year.

I'm optimistic I might achieve the targets this year :lol:

- finish 1000 points Clan Scruten (skaven)(alfway done)
- start 'WAAAAAAAGH! Mad-Dogg!'. (at least 1000 points)

Chariots!!!!!!!!!!!

last year i did not even bother trying......but this year should be a bit more predictable time wise.

2x gobbo chariots
3x orc chariot
1x orc warlord on chariot

Now I've failed to fulfill my previous two new year resolutions, so let's see if I can make it this time.

This year I will:
Paint the goblin part of the dragonback mountain Amy, including at least 50 goblins, 10 fast cav. Goblins, 6 warmachines, two chariots, and heroes.

Paint a few more orcs. 10 black orcs and 12 savage orcs

Create 6 rivertrolls and 6 common trolls.

Finish my giant

Create an orc stonehorn proxy for a second arachnarok.

Get started on the vampire army. Paint vampire, wraith, bsb, 60 skeletons and maybe some other stuff.


I think that's ambitious enough... :D

Well I think a realistic goal would be to finish painting 2500pts of my night goblin hoard. Oh and to start a blog on the progress.

Since I didn't manage it last year, 2012 is a copy/paste resolution:

I kinda half-jokingly mentioned it in the end of the 2011 Resolution thread, but I think, for my own sanity, I'll actually put it down as my real Resolution:

Do some Games Workshop related hobby-work sometime during the year.

Mostly, 'cause I'm so scatterbrained and easily side tracked by various projects, that I can never focus on getting any 1 unit/project finished at a time :(

Well my Dad was in the Navy !! and the track record of my 4 brothers

throw animals, But look G we have the same Habits

and share the same eyes

OK, I failed my 2011 resolutions miserably, so hopefully 2012 will be better.

1/ Build/Run/GM/Play in at least two display games at wargames shows
2/ Paint "remaining" Skaven (the unpainted stuff that I currently own; roughly 150 Clanrats, associated weapons teams and characters)
3/ Assemble and paint my Man of War, and associated crew
4/ Finish the Blood Bowl teams!
5/ Paint 200 models in total over the course of the year

I'm cautiously optimistic that these are achievable...

finish painting my massive december addition to my waaagh (now pushing 30k with more stuff in the mail!)

I'd also like to host/run a campaign or tournament

and beat the tar out of the elves.

Well, I completely failed on my last resolution but I will give myself another try to fail!

Paint at least three gobbo characters.
Paint the wolf rider boss.
Paint the remaining snotlings (4 bases)
Greenstuff and paint my giant.
Convert and paint 10 spider riders.
Build and paint an arachnarok.
Convert and paint 20 common goblins.
Build at least 4 pieces of terrain.

*Optional* create a Mordhiem warband.


For me that's a lot....

I totally forgot my Treeman! It's a scratch built one, just waiting for the last finish, so I have to edit the second point of my resolution to this:

Finish painting and modelling my Giant, my Treeman, my Forest Dragon and my Arachnarok.

Well, some motivation around here already!

Plan to expand the Waagh! to 4000 points with SoM to the max, so 1000 for that. The Waagh! is planned with Dogs of War, so Ruglud's armoured orcs can have their destination!

Looking at some of the resolutions around here I feel kind of meh posting mine :P Just to little things to do, and yet it's probable, that I end up without having done any of those due to family and the "real life"...

Nevertheless, in 2012 I want to complete at least 7 out of those 9:

1) Finish the squabbling savage orcs I've been working on,
2) At least 2 Special Choices from the O&G book,
3) At least 2 Rare Choices from the O&G book,
4) At least 2 Characters from the O&G book,
5) At least 1 full platoon with two infantry support choices for Kampfgruppe Normandy,
6) At least 1 full vehicle squad for Kampfgruppe Normandy,
7) At least 1 terrain piece,
8) Bring some order into my painting and modeling utensils and bitz,
9) Don't spend any money on new figs until at least half of this list is done.

i plan to finish all my spider riders (i have about 80 to do)

and i'd like to source all the models in the collector's handbook from 2003, as i have a large number of them already.

The year is coming to an end. How are you faring with regards to your old year resolutions?

My own results:

Success: I have spent less money on warhammer stuff than in 2011, I have finished painting my Night Goblin unit, and I finished my Giant. I am also working on finishing my 45-squig unit (no herders for the moment, as I will use reguler night goblins). 20 done so far, and the last 25 are at about 50 %.

Failure: Painting my Forest Dragon and my Arachnarok Spider. Both are assembled and primed, but no other paint yet. I also have barely touched my Wood Elves, except for finishing a couple of units of Dryads.

... despite a very busy schedule (my wife got her doctoral degree, my own work and a house with kids and cats) I reached 4000 pts. Phew! A lot I planned didn't work out, other things did.
And then the entry for the competition, hehe!

This year (fingers crossed, amd wrist permitting) I'm going to paint 3k of Ogres! and finish off my VC army.

Finish off my Space Wolves, Orks and Death Guard for 40K, all to 3k at least,

Of course that's if I don't get distracted by a new army!!

This year (hopefully) I'm gonna actually finish painting my army and post a painting blog of it on this forum! Had an older one but it kinda faded into nothing as I didn't update that often (mainly my brother's fault, he was supposed to build an army at the same time but buggered off instead!)

was thinking bout this to.

i havnt achieved mine (i havnt updated the points in my sig!!)
i got a lot done tho, just didnt get started on gorbad or the arachnok, and still have some rebasing to do.

but i got stuff done and taht was the idea of it!!
ill go for somthign a little less ambitious for 2013!

I failed :angry: , I barely managed to get 30 models painted this year.
