Hi all,

Some of you may remember the the Da Warpath advent challenge from last year where we tried to provide a new model every day of advent. For those of you who don't remember you can find the original topic here and the gallery here...

So a recap of the rules and concept:

Various members of Da Warpath sign up for one (or more) of the available days in the advent calender. Then when their assigned day comes around they paint one (or more) model from scratch. That means that the model cannot be part painted only undercoat or primer is allowed! The base does not have to be completed if you don't have the time or energy, only the model has to be finished. Any model is allowed, be it large or small warhammer or not, orcs and goblins or another race!

Please provide a WIP picture before you start painting with the model together with something displaying the date; a newspaper or a clock for example. Also provide a picture of the model fully painted.

Please try to stick to the one model one day rule as it is meant to encourage slow painter, like me! That said there is some leeway with the times; the pictures of the modls should be in by midnight of the day you are assigned (just go with midnight where you live, it is easiest) but if they are a few hours late don't worry, just get them in as soon as you can. This isn't a competition but a friendly project!

I hope there is an interest in creating a lovely advent calender as a cooperation here on Da warpath and that you will all join me! Just let me know which day you would like to take and I will edit the following list as people sign up!

@ Beithir Seun: No worries, just let us know when you would like to paint! I am actually in the same boat, I have no idea what my schedule will be like for December yet... But I will certainly participate!

haha so wait, i just re read it -
on the day you have to start with an unpainted model and finish it that day? :)
or just have a finished model by that day?

The model has to be unpainted at morning and finished at eveing. Technically, you gave 24 hours :)

@ BorkBork: Yep thats a Sunday and you are signed up!

@ Morkmillan: Yes you should paint a model from scratch, only an undercoat or primer should be done beforehand. But there is a quite a lot of leeway, you can paint a very small model, such as a snotling or a rank and file model that doesn't matter if it is not painted in an extremely detailed way. The idea is that slow painters get some incentive to paint faster for once!

Also there is a little wriggle room in the timing, try and finish your model by midnight of your time, don't worry about what time it is here. Also if the picture of the model is a little late, a few hours for example, then don't worry, this isn't a competition and we're not to strict. The idea is just that there should be a newly painted model for Da Warpath members to see every day of advent!

Like all of my best laid plans it has failed to survive first contact with my wife. Can I have the 2 Dec rather than the 3 Dec. This should give me a couple of undisturbed hours to nail my figure.

That's the pros of having virtually no activities except shcool and whatever strikes your fancy- you can ALWAYS paint if you feel like it. :lol:

After a bit of consideration, I think I'll take the 15th (Thursday) and 19th (Monday). As far as I'm aware, I've got these two days off work so I'll be able to fit in plenty of time for painting!

after my excellent use of calendar, i've realized that dec 1 is a thursday and not a wednesday, so i do not have the day off.

i'll still keep it as my day, but with work, get ready for a less than impressive painting :)

Can I take 8th December? And as I don't have a spangly camera are smartphone pickies good enough?

I'm interested in taking one of the late dates, but I won't know if I have time until pretty close. If the 22nd is still available when I know I might take it. Don't hold it for me though.

Allright! Here is a little bump just before December, on the first Sunday of advent no less! Just a reminder to everyone that it exists and will be starting soon! So if you want to sign up please do so!

Also a quick reminder to those that will be painting soon: Don't forget! Also try and post a picture of the unpainted model (assembled and primed is fine) with some-kind of date along with the painted figure!

What would make this even more interesting is if people time themselves. I don't mean this in a competitive sense, just that it would be interesting to see how long it took to people to paint up each model from start to finish.

I think timing yourselves should be voluntary, if you want to do it and let us know then be my guest but if not then don't worry about it...

Also I forgot to mention that the model does not have to be fully based to count as complete, only the model itself has to be finished... That said, if it is based it is nicer...

Good start Gorks wundapants Sir,

Although I now realise how the other half live: You were finished by 1020 whereas if I'm lucky I'll be able to start painting mine at 2000. I actually have two figures primed, which I do depends on what time I get the children to sleep. 2000 and I'll go for the more complex ooption, if it's 2100 I'll probably revert to type an take the easy way out. Either way I'll get something done.

Great start on the Challenge Wundapantz :)

I really have big Christmas project this year, and I'm planning on doing one of the models in this competition, but if I fail to sculpt the model before Sunday, I might decide to sculpt it on the day, rather than paint it. I hope that's okay? I'll make plenty of updates so you can follow the stuff :)

my one is going to be a mission.
i have work then staright form work to resteraunt to get fat and slammed.
i just need ot make sure i wake up early enought to slap some paint on a model and call it done :D
