This thread and all of those linked from this thread are immune to threadomancy. This is to ensure that all information stays up to date and relevant. Please note however, any new posts to these threads must contain new information. Any "junk" posts will be deleted.

Da Spawn Man - November 2, 2011 09:33 PM (GMT)
Okays people, have begun this "project" from the discussion I held with myself here: http://z3.invisionfree.com/Orc__Goblin_War...5&#entry1495851

The idea is to have a hub page which links to all the threads on the topics above (as per our counterpart's own version, the terrible Dwarven tactics handbook linked to above).

End goal? To stir up activity and brotherhood within the ranks, create productivity and to get a cohesive, complete tactics journal for 8th edition to help continue this forum's stellar history as being the BEST O&G site on the planet so new comers will continue to flock to us! Oh, and get it stickied by a mod and show everyone I am da best git 'ere. ;)

Enjoy!

EDIT: Okay, well I have physio, but in the mean time we could discuss where to start with this and what stuff I've missed out from the list above (a lot obviously). We could concentrate on like one thread a week and then link it, and then move on to the next? :)

EDIT EDIT: Hmm, for the "vs X army" threads, we could just use the existing http://z3.invisionfree.com/Orc__Goblin_War...hp?showforum=69 pages? But of course some of them are pathetically small, so when we get to them we can spruce them up. :D

If everyone agrees with this, then I can link to them above and people can get to work on them! :D

Neat initative, but we need to structure it up a bit if we want it to work! It'd be a good way for new players to get themselves acquainted with the greenskins!

Yep, the way the Bugman's ladz did it worked very very well, which is why I've stolen it from them. All we need is someone to take the lead of linking links and threads (yours truly), an admin to stickie it, and some eager gitz to start discussing the tactics and make it all work! Then every time a new topic or question a new-comer wants to know about pops up, you can go "Well, this is a good idea, and don't forget to visit the same discussion in the O&G handbook!". Then that snotling goes back to his club and goes "Hey guys! Look at dis awesome forum weez got access to! Dey even gotz a handbook on da tactics of da orcs and gobbos!" :D

Initiation, complete! :D

EDIT: Have added links to army discussion threads (who knew we already had them??) but they're pretty bare, so anyone wanting to take the lead on them would be awesome! Here's a link to one of the ones on Bugman's (pretty awesome ammirite???): http://www.bugmansbrewery.com/topic/36444-8th-edition-tactica-tomb-kings/

Now, the only problem with this is that the first poster in the linked vs army threads doesn't have something like in the link above, so we could start a whole knew thread so people don't have to search through pages just to see the main bulk of the article, if that makes sense?

I wrote a review of all the elite infantry units. Available here: http://z3.invisionfree.com/Orc__Goblin_War...showtopic=29583 You could include that somewhere on the list.

You could maybe work that into an "Army Selection" thread? Or maybe a "Competitive Army building" thread? I think if those of us (not me) who know where all the old, good threads are, maybe compile them into a single, awesome thread, maybe if we did that, that'd work? :)

Bounce - November 3, 2011 01:21 AM (GMT)
A great idea and a good way to prevent the useless replication of the exact same tactic threads which happens a lot. I would advise each week pick a specific topic and discuss that at length then add the summary to the initial post. That would allow newcomers to get a good grasp of all particular units and will allow us to progress through topics with some very unorcish order.

Da Spawn Man - November 3, 2011 02:07 AM (GMT)
Okay, have begun a few threads on here, such as http://z3.invisionfree.com/Orc__Goblin_War...showtopic=30089 and http://z3.invisionfree.com/Orc__Goblin_War...showtopic=30092 to get us going, in addition to linking to the handily already available Versus army pages. Until we get some movement on this, I think these all would be a great place to start, that along with trying to compile some good info from previous threads (such as the best units for a competitive army list, or how to use Azhag properly etc etc etc).

Also, can we get an admin/mod to stickie this? :)

Groznit Goregut - November 3, 2011 11:50 AM (GMT)
This is the first thread that I've pinned as a Mod. I also used my new found powers for good and have edited your first post to make some additions.

One thing was a spot for various tactical threads that might not fit into that specific format. There have been some good ones and I wanted to include them. I put them at the end of the first post in a MISC. section.

Da Spawn Man - November 3, 2011 08:39 PM (GMT)
OMIGOD WHAT DID YOU DO!!!!! CLEARLY using your powers for EVIL not good!!! ;)

Yep, I was going to add at least a couple of those links you posted, but I made them fit betterer and look prettier (Gotta add the green geez!!!).

Well congrats on losing your mod virginity! Now we just need to rouse the troops and get writing - I've started the Sneaky Tactics thread and the Common Acronyms, which we should work on for now (and maybe try to add some info to the versus threads!). I'm liking how all these cool changes are happening to the forum! :)

Craze_b0i - November 5, 2011 01:13 PM (GMT)
Under 'army selection' you have linked the 7th edition guide, you should probably take that out or it will mislead new players.

GROZNITTTTTTT!!!! All blame on Groznit for his insolence... ;)

I'll remove it now. :)

Da Spawn Man - November 7, 2011 09:03 PM (GMT)
Hmmm, guys we need to keep the initiative up on this since not much discussion has been going on... Sneaky stuff and acronyms. Also, what page should we work on next week? I was thinking about maybe some Golden Rules for O&G (Such as "Variety", "Never take...", "Your best units are..." "Always..." etc etc) or maybe a commonly used unit like SO or SPW?

Craze_b0i - November 7, 2011 10:08 PM (GMT)
Well concerning specific unit tactics, there are plenty of pre-existing threads in the tactics forum. Just scroll backwards thru the tactics forum and you will find them. Anything written after the new book should be ok.

But don't we want new and comprehensive threads? We could link back to those from the new one...

Groznit Goregut - November 9, 2011 02:07 PM (GMT)
I think if it's a relevant and good thread, go ahead and link to it! I will admit that there might not be as many good and relevant ones with 8th being still kind of new, but there is some gold in the old stuff. Also, I don't have time to type up as much as I did before!!!!

Da Spawn Man - November 14, 2011 09:09 PM (GMT)
Forgot to link here last night. Okay so a new week, a new discussion guys! This week we're focussing on O&G Golden Rules after many a request.

What should we discuss next week? Taking submissions now. :)

This idea appears to have died a death, which was unfortunate as its a good one and whats been added to the first post is already very good. What I've done is I have started adding new threads to start up discussions on specific Orc and Goblin Unit types. This can help give more varied advice and offer up discusion about their use.

I have only added two so far, Boar Boyz and Goblin Wolf Riders. Over the next few weeks I'll gradually add the rest (I dont want to over load the tactics section all at once!) Then we can start collating the links to each discussion and that can add to the tactica thread either this one or a new one that is pinned. Tactic's really isnt my forte so I need all the input I can get.

Squigkikka - February 11, 2012 02:11 PM (GMT)
We ought to post Floggers guide for diverting here. I'll go dig it up for you!

Here! Diverting and how it works by Flogger, with pictures and very good explanations.

Feel free to use text from The Beginner's Guide. Some of the descriptions are fairly basic, nonetheless I think it would be useful to have some type of summary in the OP of each thread.

Snikpik - February 11, 2012 05:33 PM (GMT)
That beginners guide was a nice piece of work by the way. I dont want to take anything away from that. The link is in the original post I believe. But yeah if thats whats wanted we could do that and then link to a more indepth discussion.

Thanks Snik for keeping the dream alive in my absence! Some good progress thus far (although the formatting of the page left much to be desired for Kurgan ya crazy git!) ;)

I have indeed returned. For some strange reason the forum pages were NOT loading no matter what I tried. I have waited many a moon and many a night to return, but here I am! Will try to pick up where I left off! ;)
