Morkmillian - September 12, 2011 10:31 AM (GMT)
hey there,
so i need to stop slacking and get some work done.
but first i need some info before i can continues (or attempt to)
so the question is do chariots with 3 wolfs need bases 75mm wide and 100m deep?
and if so where is your guys supplier? or should i just make some using 6 cavelry bases?
thank in advance.

I ran into the same situation when I was convering my chariots to be 3 wolves and there are two schools of thought on this ...
1) Since we know how big a wolf base is, the chariot base should be the same size as 3 of them accross the front... so make your own base (this is what I did and I used a good thick plasticard I cut to size)
2) Since "Chariot Base" is a defined base size it does not matter how many animals are pulling you are still the same / standard chariot base. I know we have all seen GW figs for TK with 4 horses and a "non-standard" base for them ... but some will argue that chariot is chariot ...
Option 1 makes more sense to me
Option 2 smacks of modeling for advantage in my opinion, since having a smaller frontage means fewer attacks back against you while still giving you extra attacks (mind you, only from 1 wolf so it is not like it is a game-breaker).

I made a mini chariot and put it on a single slotta base... :D

I would go with a base size the width of three cavalry bases. Looking at the GW website, Grom's chariot is pulled by three wolves and it is 3 cavalry bases wide. The TK chariot with four horses is the width of four cavalry bases.

cheers for the replys guys,
as much as id love a chariot on a single slotta base itl be blocks of 6 cavelry bases in 3 X 2 with green stuff in the gaps!! :D
or just the Gw modular movment tray to make a bunch since its a bit more cost efective than the £2.55 per base of Gw site!!.
i need 3 lots of 3 wide bases and 3 lots of 2 wide bases (dam chariots not coming with bases when i got them ages ago)
cheers again.

Or just cut something out of wood. My chariots are on home-made bases since they hadn't invented the chariot base when I made them.

You can even get nice resin scenic chariot bases off ebay for cheaper than the plain old GW ones.

my main problem with just a thin wooden or plastic base is that i cant do the sides like the bases on the rest of my army, would relaly like them in gw style edges so that i can match it up.
i did look at the resin ones on ebay, im still tempted by a couple of them but when you include postage im not sure they worked out much cheaper..although they look a lot nicer. they dont do 75m wide ones eitgehr i dont think.

... scenery you can make yourself:

separate bases, filled with wall filler and some Elven goodies on the ground: it doubles as Grom chariot or 3 wolf 4 gobbo chariot!
grtz,

Rules wise- you can put it on any size you want. :)
I would go for 3 wolf bases as then it will fit neatly. The standard chariot base is just too small to stick an extra wolf anywhere.

I have converted my 3 wolf chariots to fit on a standard chariot base.
I took my army to a tournament and only 1 out of 6 players questioned the base size. When asking a ref it was generally accepted that there is no fixed rule for this and what I had done was fine.
