Title: Waaaggh Bounce
Bounce - June 18, 2011 12:39 AM (GMT)
I have decided to simply combine all my army list threads into the one place so i can more easily find comments, advice and what not. Hopefully I can then more fully explain some of my tactics and results too.
The Fluff
Orc Warboss Bounce the Confused has suddenly risen to power in the almost completely unknown Mad Rock Clan after the two previous competing Warbosses killed each other. As usual all his new found power went to his head and he immediately declared a new WAAAGGH to destroy the civilised lands. Unfortunately apart from a few weedy Goblins no one really turned up. Bounce didn't really see this as a problem. If Mork wanted him to conquer the world alone who was he to argue. So he set forth into the old world with a small band of his elite Boyz and an ever growing mass of goblins who were convinced that Mork did indeed favour him as he survived defeat after defeat and continued on with a lop sided grin.
So I don't fill out my lists with endless repetitions my Characters are rightfully titled.
Bounce the Confused- Warboss of the Mad Rock Clan- Favoured of Mork
Smash the Enemy- Battle standard of the Mad Rock Clan- Champion of Mork
Apple- Leader and Shaman of the Silver Wolf Clan- Disciple of Mork

Current ideas
Yes the BSB and General won't stay alive for very long but they will do their best to try and hide on the corner of the big unit. Possibly leave the unit before it hits combat and join up with an archer unit?
I am quite keen to try out the Wolf Rider Bossess. They can either hunt warmachines fairly effectively or flank any flaming units and hold them up for several turns.
The mages don't look like much but with only a max of 8 power dice, 3 spells is probably the most I will get off anyway. I took the Goblin shaman for a bit extra ld and a bit less chance to poison himself. The
I'd like to beef my heroes up more but no points left :(
Then I have a giant Gobby unit to simply sit in combat and not go anywhere hopefully and a whole stack of small fasy hitty and shooty stuff. The giant spider in particular :)
Not sure about the Troll and Chukkaz- would rather take some Mangler Squigs, Pump Wagons, Rock Lobbas and the like but again no points left. A squig herd would also be good but I don't have one. Any other suggestions? :armata_PDT_04:
Anyway and comments, ideas, criticisms would be really helpful!
Bounce - July 3, 2011 09:59 AM (GMT)
Well here is how I did
Game 1- Adam Reynolds- Dwarves
2 Blocks of Warriors, some blocks of 6 dwarfy guys, some quarrellers, thunderers, bolt thrower and some scouting guys.
This was an objective based game but we didn't really strategise around it much.
The Arachnarok munched one unit of Warriors but then got killed trying to take on the longbeards with general.
The big unit took out one of the small units and then got stuck into the longbeards- Fanatics did nothing.
Over a couple of rounds of combat i killed a lone Dwarf and lost a dozen+ goblins but they didn't care. The BSB taking care to stay out of the fight. The Goblin general took on the Dwarf general and got himself split open.
The chariots both got shot up. The troll took out some slayers I think but ended up getting killed.
The Wolf Rider bosses took out the scouts and then tried to take on the quarrelllers in the flank, however the BSB made way and killed one. The other fled then rallied took out the bolt thrower instead and ploughed into the longbeards but failing to do anything to them and got taken down in a challenge by the dwarf general.
End result roughly a draw- 1 objective each. Overall was a pretty low scoring game as both our main units were still good.
Game 2- Trent Phelps- Wood Elves
Treeman, Treekin, 2 units of glade guard, eagle and general on stag with big unit of wild riders.
Meeting engagement.
So does the unit of Night Goblins turn up. 1. Damn. Oh well.
The Arachnarok tried to take out the wildriders but failed dismally. Only killing 3 with 16 attacks. It then failed its courage and ran off the board.
The wolfy chariots rammed into the Treeman and did no damage. I think a wolf managed to wound it? The tree flattened a chariot the other decided to hold for some odd reason.
The Goblin unit came on and was joined by all 4 characters on foot who had narrowly survived being shot at by glade guard at virtually maximum range. They then proceeded to move straight for the enemy but never quite made it there. Still they lived so that was good.
The Doom Diver panicked a unit of glade guard.
The wolfy heroes tried to close on the flaming unit of glade guard however they were split up due to reserves. 1 Charged but due to BSB, banner, rank and 2+ armour save wood elves ran off. The other didn't do much.
The eagle charged a bolt thrower which held up for a few turns and did 2 wounds. Goblins rock! The birdy was then finally taken down by the other bolt thrower.
Result- Small win to me but very low scores as not much was really dead.
Game 3- Alex Gallowway White- Skaven
2 units of clan rats, 2 slaves, plague monks, abomination, 2 units of gutter runners.
Normal deployment- YAY
I got first turn and managed to wipe out one unit of gutter runners with a chariot and the other with a unit of archers.
According to Da Warpath arachnaroks are capable of taking down Abominations so the giant spider went straight for the giant squeaky mouse. The Goblin archers decided they would lend a hand after failing animosity and charging forward 14". I also charged both wolf chariots in for good measure.
After impact hits and the spiders attacks though it was already dead. Too easy!
Then it decided to come back with 6 wounds. Majorly not cool.
It hits the spider as do the plague monks.
One unit of clan rats goes for the big unit of Night Goblins. The fanatics come out and kill off 13 clanrats. Awesome.
Needless to say the clanrats now with only like 10 rats lose combat and run. The Night Goblins cut them down and hit the plague monks.
This gave a combat with the giant goblin block, wolf chariot, arachnarok, goblin archers with shaman, plague monks and abomination. Fun.
The abomination continued to eat stuff and killed off the chariot and the arachnarok and a stack of goblins.
In return though the poisoned goblin archers and the second chariot managed to kill the abomination again and the big unit of Night Gobbies managed to defeat the plague monks and run them down as well.
Meanwhile the other unit of clanrats killed off the other archer unit and some of the war machines. Oh well they were did their best. The wolfy bosses skirted round the rear and took out the poisoned wind mortar and some fleeing gutter runners
Result- Victory to the Goblins
So that was the end of the pool games and I ended up 2nd. Although with one of the lowest scores for a second placing. Still I was ecstatic much better than last years 86th.
Next post- second round
Game 4- David Price- Skaven.
I was a bit nervous going into this game. At Hammertime I am pretty sure David came 1st or 2nd with a similar list. eep.
His list had a lot of clanrats and even more skaven slaves. Warp lightning cannon, plague monks and some gutter runners. but hey no giant scary monster stuff.
In the first couple of turns I charged one unit of slaves with a chariot and one with the lone Troll. Both won combat, broke the slaves and ran them down. Good job guys.
The spider charged off into the BSB's unit of clan rats and nommed them all over a turn or two. but was then taken out by the warp cannon.
The wolfies tried to sneak behind to take out the cannon but it got one and the other panicked and fled.
The plague monks charged the big night goblin unit. Fanatics went everywhere but did no damage to anyone except maybe some slaves?
The night goblin archers failed animosity and decided to charge the generals unit of clan rats. the other wolfy chariot hammered into their flank and somehow they didn't run off for like 3 or 4 rounds of combat which was extremely impressive. eventually the archers fled but weren't chased and may have rallied? the chariot was killed but it tried hard so I was ok with it.
The Night Gobby spears eventually took out the plague monks only to get flanked by the general's clan rats but they continued to hold and managed to get them to flee but couldn't quite catch them.
On the other side of the board the gutter runners took out the other chariot and the doom diver.
Result- draw. If only I had caught the general, as that would have both broken his army as well as given me a stack of points for him and the unit. Oh well.
Game 5- Paul Scott-High Elves
This list didn't look too threatning to be honest and I felt fairly confident for once.
Noble on Eagle, Phoenix Guard, 2 units of Seaguard, 2 small groups of white lions, Eagle.
Once again the big unit og Night Gobbies didn't bother turning up.
First turn almost skewered the general with a bolt thrower. Close!
The arachnarok charged a unit of white lions but didn't manage to kill them all. allowing the phoenix guard to hit it in the flank and chop it up. Woops.
The other lot of Lions charged some archers and over a few turns was killed by them. Oh yeah!
Seaguard took out a chariot but was smashed by 3 doom divers and reduced to 2 guys who then were wiped out by the other chariot and the troll who went for a good run without getting to fight at all. Poor guy.
The Big gobby unit did nothing till turn 5 where they charged the overrunning Phoenix guard and after 3 rounds of combat broke them and ran them down.
His eagle got taken out by bolt throwers.
My Wolfy bosses again tried to go for some flaming sea guard archers. 3+ armour and 2+ ward is really handy. I didn't want to charge in though due to another elf with a 2+ armour save. Ended up taking a risk and charging the general on eagle. Big mistake should have snuck around the back as both were unceremoniously killed before they could attack.
Result- Minor win! it all came down to the phoenix guard being taken down in the last turn. Very close game.
Game 6- Johannes Scherpenhuizen- Empire
Big units of flaggellants, Knightsm, Halberdiers, Swordsman, 2 cannons, 5 huntsmen.
This game started off really badly.
Lost first turn roll off and had the Knights wipe out the goblin wolf bossess whose had vanguarded slightly too far. Cannons blew up the doomdiver which panicked a bolt thrower and some archers who fled over 20" through my whole army. Luckily not panicking anything else.
The big goblin unit failed their animosity and decided to charge the swords in the building. with only 10 attacks they easily lost hence allowing the halberds to flank charge and the flaggellants to front charge.
Cannons did 7 wounds to the spider. I hate cannons.
He killed off my poor heroes and a stack of goblins.
Ld 5 steadfast.... fail.
Goblins flee and escape but continue fleeing off the board anyway.
however both units only pursue 5".
This allowed the Arachnarock and both chariots to flank the flaggellants killing them all but losing the spider and a chariot in return. The last chariot overran 11" ignored 2 cannon balls to the face and proceeded to destroy both cannons before gloriously charging the knights and killing two before being smashed into smithereens.
Didn't have much left by this point.
The troll managed to pass 3 stupidity tests on a 4 and wipe out the huntsman and then stupidly walk 14" to claim an objective. Yay!
The Goblin shaman cast the Bad Moon Curse on the halberds killing heaps of them. The Goblin Archers then finished the job! Awesome! But was too little too late.
Major loss.
Game 7- Tim Stewart- Lizardmen
Lizards are always a tough one for me and last time we had oplayed I had been thrashed so i was not feeling very confident at all heading into the last game.
Stegadon, 2 blocks of lizards, salamanders, jungle swarms, chameleon skinks, normal skinks.
One goblin wolf hero charged the chameleon skinks and got rid of them early on before they could panic half my army like they did in our last game.
In the middle I made a major mistake.
I charged both chariots, the other wolf hero and the spider into the salamanders easily killing both however stuffed up the overrun meaning no one could move anywhere and allowing the stegadon and lizard block to flank charge the chariot and then smash into the spider.
This went very badly. Spider , chariot and wolf hero all died.
The steg and lizards then hit the Night Goblin block. Once more the fanatics did nothing. The lizards killed off the general and the unit broke and was cut down again. damn. I felt a bit of deja vu at this point to the previous game.
Meanwhile the Goblin archers once more failed animosity and charged a ridiculous distance through a forest to hit the jungle swarms. Unfortunately this was a wild wood which killed 15 goblins i think. luckily they did at least kill the swarms which I believe are more points anyway.
The last Goblin Standard bearer though got scared after having his mates eaten by trees and ran off the board over a few turns.
The bolt throwers tried to skewer the Stegadon but to no avail. One of them blowing itself up. The doom diver rather then facing a unit of 20 angry lizards also decided to blow up on the last turn. The two Shamans who had left the big unit a turn before its destruction and were now standing by the Troll being pretty much the last thing in my army decided to finally cast boosted Curse with Irresistable force!!! 19 I tests later and the Lizard unit looked much less scary. A lucky bolt thrower shot skewered the champ and they were all gone. muhahaha .
The scar vet BSB rather angry about his units sudden destruction charged the Troll and promptly fluffed his attacks. The troll vomited back and wounded. Then stomped him for good measure killing him. Oh yeah!
So at the end of the game I had two fleeing shamans, a fleeing unit of archers, a bolt thrower about4" from an angry steg, 1 Goblin hero well over 40" from an enemy unit and a slightly bemused Troll.
Major loss.
Not sure yet where I came exactly but meh. I had lots of fun against 7 terrific opponents so it was definitely a success.
As to my list
General- needs to be a lord with protection
BSB- same as general desperately needs protection
Mages- These guys are pretty good, cheap and sometimes effective. I quite like this sort of set up. mushrooms are a bit of a risk and the extra leadership does help.
Goblin Wolf Bossess- I really liked these guys, for their first time out they were heaps better than just standard wolf riders. They still will get taken down but the added leadership and no animosity is paradise.
100 Night Goblin Unit- Am def taking these guys again. No one got even close to actually killing them all. They do panic pretty easy and thus a good general and BSB are vital. Am dropping the fanatics though in 6 games they were just a a massive liability and didn't help at all. Nets are potentially a good idea. Although in the end it doesn't matter much how many the enemy kill as the idea is to be steadfast and not move.
Goblin Archers- not particularly effective but really cheap. I don't think a muso is needed but a standard is good. at 70 points they can be difficult to shift by small stuff due to 4 SCR and if they are killed you don't really care.
Spear Chukkaz- Can be ok but the misfire thing is really irritating. It is hard enough for them. Will probably give them a miss in future.
Wolf Chariots- Gold. So cheap and yet so destructive. Would like to buy more if they weren't so expensive $ wise,
Doom Diver- Against some armies really good against others it just gets blown up by a cannon, taken out by an eagle or just misfires and explodes. The scatter is quite annoying, often i feel pretty dodgy in determining if it actually hits. What I think it is best at is hitting skirishers and getting them to panic.
Arachnarok Spider- Such an awesome model, but I believe it died every game. I think its more me learning to use it better and not sending it into unwinnable fights though. Cannons and the like are a real problem for it as you just cant hide from them and they practically do D6 wounds at a time.
Well thats it.
Hope you found it entertaining or interesting and am looking forward to playing you guys at Book of Grudges! Rematch!
Bounce - August 7, 2011 10:16 PM (GMT)
Just realised you can easily sort through threads by topic starter and I already have 7 army list threads so I thought I should just do all my army list posting in the one thread. Then you will be able to see the evolution of my army over time. Exciting right? :D
So the next tournament for me is Book of Grudges this weekend. already handed in my list but here it is
Bounce- Orc Warboss- Warboar, Armour of Destiny, Sword of Strife, Luckstone, Ironcurse Icon- 242
Squeak the Flashy- Goblin Warboss- Fencers Blades, Glittering Scales, Talisman of Endurance- 155
Smash- Orc Big Boss- Warboar- Great Weapon, BSB, Talisman of Preservation, Enchanted Shield- 150
Apple- Goblin Shaman- Lv 2
Sneaker- Goblin Big Boss- Wolf, Spear, Shield, Light Armour, Dragonbane Gem- 58
Slinker- Goblin big Boss- Wolf, Spear, Shield, light Armour, Dragon Helm- 62
Zappa- Night Goblin Shaman- Lv 1- 50
Squiggy- Night Goblin Shaman- Lv 1- 50
36 Orc Boyz- Shields, Musician, Standard- 272
98 Night Goblins- Spears, musician, Standard- 314
20 Night Goblins- Bows, Standard- 70
20 Night Goblins- Bows, Standard- 70
Wolf Chariot
Wolf Chariot
Spear Chukka
Troll
Arachnarok
Giant
2248.
So will report back how that goes, should be lots of fun :)
The next tournament list which i am still working on is 2000 points and you can only have 25% characters for some reason. Clearly my previous setup is no good :(
So am looking at
Bounce- Orc Warboss- Warboar, Armour of Destiny, Sword of Strife, Luckstone, Ironcurse Icon 242
Smash- Orc Bigboss- Boar, BSB, Spear, Talisman of Preservation, Enchanted Shield- 148
Apple- Goblin Shaman- Lv 2 90
31 Oc Big Uns- Shields, Mus, Std- 299
98 Night Goblins- Spears, Musician, Standard- 314
5 Savage Orc Boar Boyz- Spears- 100
Wolf Chariot 50
Wolf Chariot 50
6 Trolls 210
Arachnarock 290
Giant 205
Total: 1998.
Plan for both lists is the Orcs and Night Goblins hold in the centre and the cariots and Monsters speed around the flank and hammer the enemy. In my second list I have dropped off all the ranged stuff (chariots and arachnarok don't count) this was because I was finding they were not really doing anything so want to have a go without them and see if they had a role which wasn't very clear.
Any advice or comments would be awesome and if you are bored I will put up my past lists in the first post just for the fun of it.
Bounce - August 13, 2011 09:54 AM (GMT)
Well didn't go so well today.
Lost all three games but had a lot of fun.
Key thoughts
-Avoid getting flanked by unkillable units like Treekin is a real good idea.
-Ranks on Orc Boyz are potentially being wasted. Enemies always kill off the two heroes (somehow quite easily despite them being T5, 3+ AS 4+WS) and then the boyz break easily. Upgrading to Big uns may be a good idea.
-Night Goblins need Nets. Simple.
-Wolf Chariots are still awesome.
-Giant is sort of cool but very squishy. Yell and Bawl is fun.
-Need to work on getting a more efficient magic phase. I have the spells and the dice but I just cant seem to get spells off. Casting with three dice is no good I think.
-1 Spear Chukka is a good idea.
-Need another main infantry block or more small diverters to avoid being flanked all the time.
Bounce - August 14, 2011 10:10 PM (GMT)
Managed to at least win a game today. :)
Same general thoughts as yesterday.
I need something nastier in the army- Black Orcs/Savage Orc Big Uns/Trolls
Squabbling was a problem in a lot of the games causing my battlelines to be badly disrupted. So am thinking a move to Black Orcs, Trolls and smaller night goblins may be a good idea.
Giant killed some Dragon Princes and Plague Monks and Chaos Marauder Horseman but also died every game.
Bounce - August 20, 2011 12:33 AM (GMT)
Feel like I am talking to myself :(
Oh well... Here is my next planned list- 2000 points Characters are limited to 25%
Orc Warlord- Warboar, Shield, Armour of Destiny, Sword of Strife, Luckstone- 237
Am really enjoying this set up, he is tanky and killy at the same time as providing good leadership. Luckstone hasn't worked yet but it seems such an Orcy item I just have to have it. :)
Black Orc Big Boss- Warboar, BSB, Talisman of Preservation- 176
Am tired of failing squabble results and the heavy armour will come in use.
Night Goblin Shaman- Lv 2- 85
Going a bit magic lighter due to the character restrictions. This guy should still hopefully get a spell off each turn.
25 Orc Big uns- Shields, Std, Mus- 245
First time trialling this, will hopefully make them survive a little better and actually kill some enemies. The BSB will be going with them to make them do what I want.
49 Night Goblins- Spears, Nets, Std, Mus- 212
Am dropping the horde formation and going with ranks. Horde looks cool but it wasn't really achieving a great deal because they do break eventually and while 40 attacks sounds like it should do something it really doesn't.
20 Night Goblins- Bows, Std, Mus 3 Fanatics- 155
The fanatics are back :) Just going to march them straight at the enemy and let loose. This will probably back fire though :(.
22 Black Orcs- Std, Mus- 284
Going to go six wide. The General will go in here to give them some punch. Hopefully they will do better than the last time I fielded them.
Troll- 35
Spear Chukka- 35
Wolf Chariot- 50
Wolf Chariot- 50
Pump Wagon- Spiky ROller- 60
Doom Diver- 80
Small stuff but nasty in the right time and place.
Arachnarok Spider- 290
Aside from being far too awesome to leave at home the spider has being doing pretty well lately. When it picks its battles right it eats things.
Total:1994 A few left over but due to 25% restrictions not many plces I can spend it. Probably just some more Night goblins.
Thoughts?
Ysgarran - August 22, 2011 08:05 PM (GMT)
Hey Bounce
Question: Do you have any wild orcs? They are awsome.
What about Mangler Squigs, opponents will always take notice of these beasties.
Bounce - August 23, 2011 09:28 AM (GMT)
Unfortunately no to both. When I started up the Orcs and Goblins Savages weren't that awesome and Manglers didn't exist so I don't have any. And a full unit is just so ridiculously expensive these days. I would like to add them in though. For Mangler squigs I have been contemplating taking some of my Lord of the Rings Trolls- They are sort of similar- Although rare slots are fairly tight because of the Arachnarok and I have been pretty happy with him
But yeah I wish I could transform my 20 Black Orcs into Savage Orcs,
I do now have a Savage Orc Shaman on Boar so I might ssend hjim in with some Savage Boar Riders- Normal boar boyz look pretty savage I think.
Bounce - August 28, 2011 12:47 AM (GMT)
Well had lots of fun and came somewhere close to dead last :)
Game 1
Beasts of Chaos played by probably one of the better generals in the country so I wasn't expecting to win this particularly as I have no idea how beastman work.
He had two big units of Minotaurs with a Doombull and Gorebull in them and lots and lots and lots of units of dogs, harpies and ungor raiders as well as 4 or so chariots.
I got off to a bad start trying to charge through all his baiting units with my troll and Spider but they ended up getting charged by the Minotaurs which then came around my flank and just wiped out unit after unit with much ease. It was Blood and Glory and my Goblin units standard broke on the very last turn to give him the ponts. My Pump wagon tried to reach some harpies but failed and got killed by them instead. One of my chariots was charged by dogs but managed to win combat then charged into a unit of ungors who fled and managed to cause two of the chariots to flee before being smashed into smithereens by the other two.
My Night Goblins decided to squabble for the first several turns but did eventually manage to defeat the Gor herd with some help from the other chariot.
Doom Diver did well squishing one Chariot and almost wiping out a unit of Harpies which was good. At least the General and a few Black Orcs survived. :)
Game 2- Warriors of Chaos. Big unit of Warriors, Chosen, Ogres, Warshrine, 2 Chariots.
Tried to fight it out and just couldn't hang on. It was a lot closer than it looked really.
Turn 1 his Sorcerer lord miscasted on Flickering Fires of Tzeentch but narrowly escaped blowing himself up properly. Still killed a handful of Warriors which was nice of him. Better yet the flickering fire which had been cast on the Troll did no damage hell yes!
But then it all went wrong. The two wolf chariots charged the 4 Ogres and did 4 Impact hits. One was smashed and the other quickly fled into the pumpwagon destroying it as well before going ff the board. This allowed the Ogres as well as both chariots to charge the Big uns with BSB. They held for several rounds and managed to break the Ogres but eventually lost steadfast and were cut down.
The Black Orcs took on the Chosen and won without breaking too much of a sweat but unfortunately the last guy escaped asnd despite my best efforts was unable to kill him with anything.
The Spider flank charged the big unit of warriors and the Night Goblin spears went in the front. Fanatics from the archers whirled through and killed some of his guys and some of mine, :o The spider did awesome killing 10 or so warriors and only takng 1 wound but he managed to kill 15 of the Spears. So the spider promptly failed it's stubborn test and fled a long way. The spears held for one turn before fleeing the next i think which bought the Warriors into contact with the Black Orcs. My General fluffed his attacks when challenged by the Champ and this really hurt me. I won combat but not by the 4 or 5 I needed. The next turn I got hammered by the Warshrine giving him even more attacks and broke and was run down. Leaving just the Gobby archers and the Warmachines. hmm. The Night Goblin Shaman stepped out of his unit ran towards the Warriors and cast Curse which killed 3 of 5 which was heroic but didn't really help. Pretty much every one was quickly killed after that. :( So he had left 1 Chosen and 2 of 30 Warriors as well as BSB, Shrine and wounded chariots and a single fleeing Ogre. So points wise I was absolutely destroyed. :( But a hard fought game
Game 3- Tomb Kings, Beastman and Vampires are my most difficult armies to face. I have never won a game against them. I was up against the new Tomb Kings who i hadn't faced yet so wasn't really sure about things. Unfortunately my opponent was a bit odd and not very good at explaining stuff. I think I had the deployment to win but made some tactical errors and had some bad luck.
His unit of chariots took a doom diver to the face first turn which destroyed one and then charged through a fanatic which killed 2 more. The archers in combat and with a stand and shoot brought him right down to a wound and then he proceeded to bring them all back by having 12 Power Dice in almost every magic phase. :o Not cool.
My Big uns who had deployed as reserves got charged by the Giant which went and killed 10 of them. I put three wounds back but broke and fled back off the board. The Pumpwagon finally geared up and charged the Giant but failed to kill it and was destroyed.
The Black Orcs tried to charge the Skeleton Warriors and rolled 1" short. He then successivey cast a spell which decreased my movement and made me take dangerous terrain tests so they couldn't move. The Night Goblin spears charged the Skeleton warriors themselves and then I remembered. THEY HAVE NETS!!!! I felt tempted to go and headbutt the wall for a bit for this typical Orcy stupidity but oh well. The Gobbies and the Skellies sat there not doing anything to each other for several rounds of combat before the chariots flank charged and destroyed them. Another unit that can just kill 15-20 a turn even with reduced strength! :o
On the other side of the battlefield things actually went right for a change though! :D
The Spider munched through another unit of skeletons. The Wolf chariot killed the tomb scorpion and then both of them went and killed a unit of Ushabti despite their continued efforts to come back to life and my spiders determination to roll only a single hit.

Game 4- I should have had a bye here (apparently odd number of players- really they should have been more organised and had a gumby list but I can't complain really)
Fortunately my brother who I had pretty much dragged along said he was happy to sit one out.
So I played a High Elf list by a young and enthusiastic general who was perhaps a bit overconfident. :)
Turn 1- My Bolt Thrower skewers his archmage who was just sitting by himself. Now thats more like it!
The fanatics and Doom Diver kill severeal of his massive unit of Dragon Princes. I try to cast curse at them and get IF! It then goes 7 inches and doesn't even hit them but does kill 4 Night Goblin archers who happened to be in the way. The Mage then miscasts and kills another 5 Gobby spears and wounds himself. Whoops.
For some reason he sent single bolts at my Night Goblins which failed to hit.
The Seaguard and archers shot at the spider and did a lot of damage by the time it destroyed the archers it only had 1 wound left and then shortly died. :(
The Dragon Princes eventually hammered into the Night Goblin Spears. Who held and held and forgot to use nets and held anyway. Then I tactically charged the Generals Black Orcs and Gobby archers into the flank of the dragon princes.
His Noble challeneged and did a wound to my general. I attacked back and did a wound to his. His horse attacks. 5 hit, 6 wound, 1 failed armour, 3 failed ward. :(
The Boar goes in for the kill. Hits, Wounds, Failed Armour!!! :D The two remaining dragon princes get cut down by the avenging goblins.
His white lions then finally got into action and charged the big uns. The Big uns hold barely. S5 is nice! the Black Orcs flank charge and kill heaps. The Lions fail to hurt the BSB or the General but are stubborn. The Seaguard somehow marched across the whole baord and flank charged the BSB. I wasn't sure about the lehality due to an intervening building but oh well. The final white lions died. the seaguard broke and the game was mine! :D muhahahahah.
Thoughts on the list.
Two of the games I really struggled playing armies I hadn't played yet and so I think a bit of experiance was partly the issue. Remebering things like nets is also a good idea. Still need to practice sme basic thinking ahead, not charging blindly at stuff and need to work out how to beter deal with dangerous units like those Minotaurs so they don't just eat my whole army.
The General is still awesome. Great set up. Having the BSB as a Black ORc I think worked well. The Big uns never failed anyway but it made me feel better knowing they weren't going to do something stupid.
The Shaman did not do much at all. Mushrooms was a leading problem. The extra D6 wasn't really useful the hurting himself was horrible. Definitely going back to common gobby.
Big uns are are cool. Will probably keep the upgrade but make them a bit bigger as they die so fast.
Night Goblin spears are nice, just remember the nets and they need back up at some point. Because they will break eventually!
Archers with Fanatics. I love these guys but they weren't worth it. Still this set up was a lot better than putting them with the spears i felt. Go back to plain archers perhaps if that.
Black Orcs are tough. ITP is so awesome! They may die easy but they can actually kill stuff fairly well too. They need to be wider 6 or 7.
Spear Chukka- killed an archmage doesn't need to do anything for the next several tournaments.
Doom Diver- well worth it
Spider- Tricky but I like him a lot. He is tough but does die eventually but can generally kill something first. Still need to work on his tactics a bit and get him into combat with infantry that are not S6+

Took a short break to have a go with the High Elves. Long story short ethereal lv 4 life mages and white lions are fun. :)
Anyway new list! Cementhammer is coming up soon which is going to be a cheesefest take the filthiest list you can imagine. Not really my strongpoint as I am missing most of the models to make such a list but here is an attempt
Orc Warboss- Warboar, Sword of strife, Shield, Armour of destiny- 232
Goblin Great Shaman- Lv 4 - 180
Black Orc Big Boss- Warboar, BSB, Dawnstone, Dragonhelm- 166
100 Night Goblins- Spears, Mus, Std, Nets- 365
51 Orc Boyz- Mus, Std, Shields- 377
20 Night Goblins- Bows, 3 Fanatics- 135
20 Night Goblins- Bows, 3 Fanatics- 135
Wolf Chariot- 50
Wolf Chariot- 50
18 Trolls- 630
Arachnarock Spider- 290
Doom Diver- 80
Pump Wagon- 45
Mangler Squig- 65
Mangler Squig- 65
Mangler Squig- 65
Total:2995.
Nothing really scary on its own but three stubborn blocks and a bucketload of cheap crazy stuff Practically 10 random movement models! :D
Thoughts?
Chilledenuff - November 23, 2011 08:41 AM (GMT)
Looks fun, couple of things spring to mind.
1. Why no netters in the archers?
2. Why a black orc BSB?
rothgar13 - November 23, 2011 03:59 PM (GMT)
I can answer the second one - it's because the Black Orc BSB keeps the block that he's in pointed in the right direction, and thus stops from making bad charges and the like.
@Bounce: Digging the Troll Horde, but we're going to a cheesefest without Savage Orc Big 'Uns? I understand it if you don't have the models for it, otherwise... I don't. I'm also of the opinion that 60 NG's will be enough for your purposes - you're not trying to hold people 'till Judgement Day, just 2-3 turns. This will also make it actually feasible to deploy that block 5-wide and still be within your starting deployment zone.
Bounce - November 23, 2011 09:36 PM (GMT)
Nets seem a bit wasted for archers as they shouldnt be in combat. black orc bsb has a few bonuse one being my generals unit doesnt decide to do anything stupid. he also gets a 2+ rerollable as which is vital to keeping him alive and he still gets a great weapon. savage orc big uns would be cool but i dont have any unfortunately. was planning to reform the night goblins to be 5 wide any way. they always seem to die so fast.

Has been a while since I could post on here. My computer at home doesn't like the site for some reason and I have been playing High Elves
But am now back on the pump wagon for empire in flames
This is based on the orcish tale of the Ragnarork where the world will end in fire and ash at the hands of Mork.
Snaptoof da Loony- Savage Orc Warboss- Warboar, Shield, Battleaxe of the Last Waaaggh- 277
So the focal point of the army an unhinged loon with perhaps the most destructive weapon in the game. It was hard choosing whether to go normal/savage or black. Savage gives an extra attack and a ward save, black gives him 1 extra weapon skill but the extra choppas is redundant and the quell animosity is not needed because of my Black Orc BSB. Frenzy could be an issue but with re rollable ld 9 should manage to stay under control.
Bounce the Confused- Orc Warboss- Warboar, Armour of Destiny, Sword of Strife, Shield- 232
The calm and sensible general. He is hard to kill, choppy and gives good leadership to hold the line.
Smash the Enemy- Black Orc Big Boss- BSB, Warboar, Dawnstone, Dragonhelm- 166
2+ re rollable armour is nothing to be sniffed at when you are playing orcs who don't quite grasp the concept of defence. He also hits with S7 which is nice.
Onto the troops
100 Night Goblins- Spears, Std- 310
40 Orcs- Std, mus, Shields- 300
23 Black Orcs- Std, Mus- 296
6 Trolls- 210
Wolf Chariot- 50
Wolf Chariot- 50
2 Manglers- 130
Doom Diver- 80
Arachnarok- 290
total:2391
Am thinking Snaptoof and Smash in with the Orcs. Bounce in with the Black Orcs.
This means the only potential victim for animosity is the Night Goblins. I don't really care too much about them, they are just a tar pit. Yes they could be a lot smaller but I realised I need the core points and nothing quite scares people as 100 model units.
The other great thing is that Black Orcs, Manglers, Trolls and Arachnarok are ITP.
The real trick is trying to keep all four units nearby for ld. This has led me to consuider just making Snaptoof the general and then Bounce and the Black Orcs can go off on their own. Sure Snaptoof will probably die but hopefully by that point the enemy will be on the run and T5, 4+ Armour, 6+ Ward isn't that bad.
Finally why 3 warboars? I think the extra armour covers the issue of getting hit by template weapons. The centre of the template almost never hits them anyway because my opponent aims for the middle of the unit to actually hit lots of models. If I am not in combat by turn 2 I am doing something wrong.
Any comments or advice most welcome.

Hi Bounce, I see you using lots of orcs boyz with shield, how they perform in your games?
Bounce - May 8, 2012 12:01 AM (GMT)
I have been pretty happy with them. they are fairly tough to take down and the heroes mean they hold fairly well. They arent brilliant but as far as our core choices go they are ok

Updating my list a bit for Book of Grudges- although don't actually know what point size it will be but anyway
Orc Warboss- Armour of Destiny, Sword of Strife, Shield, Warboar
Goblin great Shaman- Lv 4
Black orc Big Boss- BSB, Great Weapon, Warboar, Dawnstone, Dragonhelm
40 Orc Boyz- Shields, Std, Mus
50 Night Goblins- Spears, Std, Mus
20 Night Goblins- Bows
20 Night Goblins- Bows
5 Wolf Riders- Spears
5 Wolf Riders- Spears, Mus
20 Black Orcs- Std, Mus, Flame Banner
5 Savage Orc Boar Boyz- Spears
Wolf Chariot
Wolf Chariot
6 Trolls
Mangler Squig
Mangler Squig
Arachnarock
Total: 2478
Thoughts: Am still loving the lord set up. Chaos Lords are a bit of an issue for him but pretty much every other hero he can kill or at least not die against. If only his retinue would follow his example.
Going back for some magic mainly for a bit more defence than actually casting spells.
BSB is also amazing 2+ re rollable armour and T5 is nice.
Small frontage for the goblins is a must I think. Too many very high damage output units out there. they don't stay stubborn for long.
Black orcs and Savage Boar boyz are a bit risky. On one hand very high strength but on the other very low defence. If I had a stack of savages on foot I would take them instead and probably do a bit better.
Wolf Chariots and Manglers are just amazing.
Trolls have been pretty hit and miss. Need to find more creative ways of keeping them near the general and avoiding flaming attacks.
Arachnarock is just too awesome to leave at home.
Bounce - July 12, 2012 01:13 AM (GMT)
Found out the tournament will be 2400 so a few small changes
Orc Warboss- Armour of Destiny, Sword of Strife, Shield, Warboar
Goblin great Shaman- Lv 4
Black orc Big Boss- BSB, Great Weapon, Warboar, Dawnstone, Dragonhelm
41 Orc Boyz- Shields, Std, Mus
48 Night Goblins- Spears, Std, Mus, Nets
5 Wolf Riders- Spears
20 Black Orcs- Std, Mus, Flame Banner
5 Savage Orc Boar Boyz- Spears
Wolf Chariot
Wolf Chariot
6 Trolls
Mangler Squig
Mangler Squig
Arachnarock
Doom Diver
Pump Wagon
2399
I think that nicely cuts back on the dangers of panicking with only 3 units that will panic from 25% models gone and 2 of those being big blocks with characters next to the BSB.
Also only three animosity is less of a headache as well.
amplebob - July 13, 2012 06:35 PM (GMT)
Its cool to see the progressions of your army lists. Gives a real sense of how your play is evolving.
I like the most recent list, really goes for the jugular with the two characters in the savage orc boar unit. I just worry than one good shooting/magic phase from your enemy and this unit is already struggling...
I know what you mean about the arachnarok being too awesome to leave at home, but I just think of all the pump wagons, manglers, doom divers and rocklobbers I could have for the points and its a no brainer. As it is, your list has a large amount of these anyway.
Good luck at the tournament, let us know how it goes.
staks - July 14, 2012 08:37 AM (GMT)
hey Bounce, obviously you are a Victorian but I'm not sure who... Brendan??
List looks good, nice and balanced. You need some savage Orcs :)
Bounce - July 15, 2012 07:36 AM (GMT)
Yep, Brendan. :)
Buying the Black Orcs instead of the Savages was a big mistake unfortunately there was no way to see the 8th edition books coming out. :(
Now it seems a bit wateful to spend 200$ or so when i already have hundreds of orcs and goblins.
@ Amplebob- actually the two characters usually go in the infantry blocks. I know there is a risk from template weapons but they haven't been hit by a flying rock yet. This leaves the Savage Boar riders as a very cheap throwaway which can still do 15 S5 attacks on the charge.
A second doom diver and a rock lobber would be nice... -_-
