Title: Project For Those Who Loves Everything Savage
Description: Savage orc warboss
Targhl - March 26, 2011 07:29 AM (GMT)
Hello folks! Orcs have been my second army (back in years 2001-2003), but now, after the release of a new book I really feel like starting an all-ork O&G army.
Since I'm in love with savage orcs, I started my own savage orc warboss. This guy is HUGE, being just a bit shorter than an ogre, as broad as ogre in shoulder, but much skinnier otherwise.
Now I'm planning to make a kit, with two choppas, and a shield option.
So, whatcha think?

You did that in greenstuff?! I can't even make a rock look natural :o

It... is... AWESOME! :yarr!: But why does a Savage Orc have armour? :P
- Cheers, Skarsnik. :D

I love it  Can't wait to see it finished
Targhl - March 26, 2011 08:43 AM (GMT)
Yep, that's grey stuff as a base and green stuff for details.
Now let's talk on armor. That's a good question. Of course, armor is something what orcs, especially savage orcs, lack. But I thought that any successfull savage warboss would definitely get some fancy iron plates. So he MUST have some steel.
As a shoulder pads he's going to get two huge sculls of unknown creatures, and a pelt with strapped teeth (like on the new armybook cover) on his back.

Savage orcs warbosses refuse to wear mundane armour but they do wear magic armour. :)
theorox - March 26, 2011 12:21 PM (GMT)
Savage Warbosses have the option for mundane light armour in 7th, do they in 8th? :)
He's awesome! Any chance of you casting him in something else than metal? :P

It's going to be resin, or nothing. I don't have anyone amongst people I know who can make a descent metal cast, so a resin casts. The same as Forgeworld uses.
theorox - March 26, 2011 12:46 PM (GMT)
Dude. I'll probably buy it then! :D Don't lose inspiration, keep going! Go! Go! :yarr!:
Welcome to Da Warpath by the way.

Rock is very hard to sculpt though dude, the trick is to get it to look about the right shape then let it set and cut flat lines and jagged edges into it with a hobby knife once its solid.
Love it dude, skulls have always been a hard one for me and the beard looks tops. Based on that Id love to see you make a Chaos Dwarf at some point! Love your Nurgle Bray Shaman too btw, my only beef with him is the leg posing - legs perfectly side by side is a tad 5th-ed for me. Keep up the great work though!

Great sculpt, a bit too much armoured for my tastes but I like it ^^

Thank for your comments ladz! :D
About chaos dwarves- I had an attempt of making a bull centaur. You can find him here
http://www.chaos-dwarfs.com/forum/showthre...tid=5073&page=1He's unfinished, and he's unlikely to ever get finished now. Collecting dust in my bits box.
About the legs pose- Shammy has his legs straight side by side, and a warboss is going to have similar leg position. Why? Because this is a PROPPA way of standing for a character, who is REALLY COOL! :yarr!:
I really dislike plenty of GW models for their legs positioned in a "walking somewhere" way. A character, especially unique one (and most of my characters are quite different from normal characters of the same race) shouldn't be wandering.
Of course, this is my vision, and I understand, that it is quite contraversial.
I've got another project right now. gnolls (because I LOVE them, and there are no propper gnolls available). They are slightly more dynamic.
Talking about armor- this gut plate is a place for attaching "demon scull". Two more huge sculls are going to be orc's shoulderpads.

Good sculpt, but the head doesn't really look like a Warhammer Orc.

Yeah agree the head is not like an orc head and theres too much armour.
But youre sculpting is awesome. :)
Captn Morgrim - March 27, 2011 06:22 PM (GMT)
A beard on an orc? Suits me fine, and makes me take them Greenies more seriously. (dwarf Commander here)
Very impressive sculpting and don't mind the "No armour on a Savage Boss"-crowd. I agree that some sort o' armour befits a Mean Green Savage.
Timbor - March 28, 2011 02:52 AM (GMT)
Looks very good so far! I would say there's some great potential there!
Two questions:
- How do you get the armour plates and other flat areas so smooth?
- Up to this point, how many hours would you say you have spent sculpting this miniature?
I have always toyed with the idea of some more serious sculpting, so would like to know how much time is put into this!
Keep up the good work!
