Okay folks you voted for another one so here it is, hopefully this years will be a bit more organised than last years. This time round I'm not going to ask for monthly updates as to how you are doing as not everyone its that active on the forum, Just feel free to come here and post pictures and updates on how you are doing throughout the year

Ok so last time I got greedy and promised to paint a whole 2250 point army and model it too. Considering the rate at which I model and the amount of conversion work involved, this was perhaps a little optimistic. I was sick for a lot of the year, and was in hospital twice, getting out just in time for Christmas. Other issues were 8th Edition. I put Da Ghostz on hold until it was out to see if they needed changing for the new composition rules. I'm glad I did, as they needed a lot of changing. Then I decided to put them on hold again until the new Orc book comes out. Long story short, fail!

So this year I'm going to be more modest. I have Animosity running until March ish, so that will curtail a lot of early hobby. I've been playing a lot of Blood Bowl and Malifaux and plan to play some Dystopian Wars too. So here's my resolutions for 2011. I'm going for a bit of a different format this time. Lots of smaller resolutions, which I think will suit me better. I'll consider 2011 a sucess if I can achieve 7/10 of these targets.

Draig's Resolutions

1) Help run a sucessful fifth Animosity Campaign.
2) Finish Modelling and then Paint my Blood Bowl Orc Team.
3) Play at least 15 games of Blood Bowl!
4) Paint the Starter fleet for my Dystopian Wars Prussians.
5) Play with said fleet at least three times!
6) Paint at least 2 Malifaux Crews - Lilith and the Dreamer.
7) Improve my Game of Thrones LCG play. This means staying abreast of new expansions, playing more games, and getting some Melee going!
8) Play at least 15 different game systems in 2011.
9) Play 5 new games this year.
10) Play at least one game in my collection I haven't played for a year.

So Scar, you can put me down as

Draig: Achieve 7/10 targets.

So last year I went with painting more models then I buy, but since I didn't buy much this year it was quitte easy to achieve so for 2011 I will set me a tougher goal.

My new year resolution for 2011 will be paint 200 models, but I will count bigger models as multiple models, cause painting a giant isn't the same as painting a single goblin. If that is good for you, Skartooth.

I was wondering if I could set a goal for half the year? Say June? since I really have no idea what will be going on in my life afterwards, what country I will be in, if I will have access to hobby stuff and so on. So maybe a more modest goal for June and I may be able to add more goals afterwards?

I'm going to finish a cityfight table and an OK army first, but I'll see WGG's 200 models and raise him another 100 for 300 greenskins total. I will go by 7th ed. Unit Strength for large models.

Put me down as:
Anton: Paint 300 Orcs & Goblins (large miniatures count as multiple models)

This is my first time, so i won't push myself much. :D

*Make a 6x4 feet gameboard, with enough tiles/terrain to use it. (Textured, maybe not painted. We'll see.)

*Paint 10+ minis from each of my armies (WoC, O&G, Dwarfs) and show my mad skills off in my blog.

*Magnetize more than half of my O&G. (Mini-wise)

*Assemble all the oddball stuff i have lying around.

*Get some order in my painting area.

Well i give it a try ! throw i Fail on most of my New Year Resolution
so i keep it easy

A small group of pirate Goblin like Somalia pirates
a river boat and crew

Paint the second half of my army.

That is 5 units, 3 shamen, 3 warmachine, 1 wyvern! :)

Allrighty then!

Til June: Modest goals since I am not a prolific hobbyist...

Finish my wolf rider unit (6 more wolves and riders, all wolves to have repositioned heads and some slight green stuff work, command group converted from normal wolf riders)

Finish my squig hopper unit (4 models)

Completely finish over half of my planned warhammer village (4 out of 7 buildings, I have one built but not textured and painted and the shell of another)

Paint 8 high elfs (4 archers and 4 spearmen) I hope this is okey even on such a green forum as this...

Build a scratchbuilt snotling pump wagon -> bonus = paint it

Paint my doom diver (crew already painted)

Bonus = paint 2 snotling bases
Bonus 2 = paint one gobbo shamen with source lighting from three glowing eyes...

Total:

18-21 models
2 war machines
4 buildings

It may not be much compared to most others but considering I only painted 5 and 3 half models plus one snotling its pretty ambitious for me... By (the end of) June of course...

I like Draig's idea of setting targets. I think I have the same affliction as Draig in that it takes me ages to do anything (although not for the same reasons - he's a perfectionist, I'm just lazy :D) so I'll shamelessly steal his idea and set my own targets:

1/ Finish painting my Human and Amazon Blood Bowl Teams
2/ Add more subs to my Orc Blood Bowl and finish painting them
3/ Finish painting all the Skaven figures I currently own (Doomwheel, 6 Rat Ogres, 120 Clanrats, 4 Weapon Teams, 6 characters)
4/ Make a post on my blog at least once every week
5/ Paint a Dystopian Wars starter fleet (likely Prussians)
6/ Play with said fleet at least three times (stealing Draig's ideas now ;))
7/ Play a minimum of five Warhammer games
8/ Play one game system I've never played before
9/ Take part in at least two demo games at wargames shows with Stafford Games
10/ Paint at least 300 models total over the course of the year
11/ Finish painting my 15mm French Napoleonics
12/ Paint up the 28mm Arthurian Saxons I've had knocking around for ages so I can get some Arthurian gaming in...
13/ Sculpt a model completely from scratch



Just like Draig, if I achieve 7/10 of those I'll be happy :)

EDIT: Thought of a couple more, so make it 9/13 ;)

1. Make a winter Ulthuan board (to raid, of course!). At least 10 pieces of terrain for said board.
2. Completely paint my warhammer army (for the first time ever!)
3. Make a Mordheim board.
4. Paint up a Dwarf Treasure Hunters warband.

Considering I blew it completely in 2010, I am going to throw in the bone once more and try and do the following:

Launch my Website!
Redo Movement Trays for my Army
Paint my Goblins! I have around 300 all together, including Wolf Riders and War Machines.
Update Grudge of Sheer blog to realtime!

1) Buy, clean, and paint 2 brigade boxes in 8 months.

2) Dont eat too many pastry deserts

1. Repaint current o&g army
2. Enter a model in the 2011 GD (North American)

this sounds like a good way to get me to my goal so ill give it a go.

1) paint and base my NG army by march in time for new O&G release(100 or so models :( )
2) start and complete my Savage Orc army(if we get the plastic models i want)
3) start my terrain project(as soon as i figure out what it'll be)

seems reasonable in my head :)

sorry, after last years horrible failure to live up to my resolutions i am not even gonna try this year!

This is a great idea :o As i am such a slow painter, maybe this is what i need to keep my motivation going throughout the year. so count me in:

1) paint 1000 points of Greenskins (not specifying units yet, waiting for the new army book so i know what i need to redo or add
2) finish a display board for the greenskins
3) compete in atleast 3 tourneys, and use a new army (preferably greenskins....) in one of them
4) do better at my army blog and try and post updates atleast every 2 weeks (which will help me stay on schedule).

If you don't want to be a part of it then that's fine, but let me remind you that the resolution doesn't even have to be that big, but if you set your self a target your be more likely to be inspired to go out and do it

Anyway, I'd like to finish my 5500 points army. Only about 1000 points completely painted :-(

Count me in for this one.

I want to beat last year's count of 305 models painted. This number was a personal record for me, and if it were 300 models of Orcs, my army would be mostly painted by the end of the year. (probably just characters left)

At a glance it seems like an easy goal, given that I really didn't get my paint machine up and running till June of last year, but with a second snotling on the way in March, I forsee a gap in my painting for a few months.

Looking forward to the carrot and stick medal!

thx Skar, you are absolutely right about that. But having too many targets at one time can be contra productive as well.

So i ll still pass on making any painting resolution even a tiny one and just appreciate anything i get painted.

I'll proudly do more

1) Finish painting my Greenskin army.
2) Paint the 3 sets of Skull Pass Dwarfs.
3) "Orcifiy" the watch tower.
4) create some Orc scenery

That is a great idea! i have a couple of the old towers, so this is a great idea to make them a little more fun to use on the table!

In the spirit of 'I failed most of last year's so it can only get bette'r. The tentative outline plan (written in invisible ink, nailed to the wall with jelly) for this year is:

Paint up a 2nd edition orc blood bowl team.
Paint up one more complete unit for my WHFB army
Paint up a Malifaux crew.
Get Draig to answer his PMs so I can send off the mini exchange figure from 2010.

That's more than enough to be going on with, especially as I can almost touch the feeling of epic fail in the air.

1. paint my current army to table top quality as well as any purchases with the new releases.
2. Get at least 12 warhammer games.
3. Create a converted boar chariot
4. And the big one..... Stop being lazy and finally start up an army blog.

Dont forget me!


I did okay last year, managing to meet all my new years resolutions for 2010. Okay for this year:

1) Finish my Idol of Gork.
2) Finish both units of 50 strong Orc's.
3) Add 3 more Goblin wolf chariots to existing army.
4) Paint up at least one unit of Orc arrer boyz.
5) Convert up and paint a unit of Big Uns.
6) Add some diarama's to my Common Goblin Units.
7) Convert and paint up at least one unit of Common Goblins with hand weapons.
8) Convert and paint up my own Orc boss.
9) Add anything cool that gets released for O'n'G's this year plus new army book.
10) Finally join a gaming club or get some regular games in some how!

Optional:

11) Finish my Orc fort that I should have had finished for the scenery competition!


And, goes with out saying really, add pictures of this lot to my blog.

Ok so my addition to this is:

1. Play at least 6 games of Warhammer and Warmachine.
2. Paint 365 models
3. Win a Local Tournament
4. Keep my blog going for the full year.
5. Sculpt my own Warboss.
6. Keep my Warhammer armies to: O&G, WoC and VC.

If I can do 5/6 of these things I will be off to a winner. :lol:

Ok so last year my resolution was to complete a 2,000 point army didn't achieve it so this year my resolution is the same thing to complete a 2,000 point orc and goblin army not including character upgrades magic banners ect, including movements trays.

- Finishing my scenery (that's a lot)
- Finishing the figures I have not painted at the moment (will be around 300 models)
- Buy a Realm of Battle Gaming Board and paint it.
- Do all the above and still be able to having a social life.

Mmm I guess that's it. Will be a huge task for me, as I'm quick as a snail in painting and don't have much time (aka school). I will be victorious if I can do 3/4.
