Got tips and strategies that work well against the Beastmen? Share them here with other warlords! Since the release of the new 8th edition, the game has changed a great deal and new tactics must be developed and discussed in order for da greenskins to crump ‘em good!

This advice is to counter Ambusing units that can change the game in favor of a beastman army in a couple of turns. If you're using warmachines deploy them near or against the back table edge if possible to prevent Ambushing units from entering your backfield. You can do the same with missile troops if you have them in your army as well. Always have 2 units that can guard your flanks. I used this tactic to limit my beastman opponent's ambush ability to great effect. Effective placement for your units can put a huge dent in a Beastman army if they rely heavilly on the Ambush ability.

How do you do this? What is the ruling on it?

You can't move within one inch of a model without charging so you can't move on to the board. Heard of it being done in 40k at a tournament and it kept a whole army off the board and got an instant win.

Put a cheapo unit or two of NGs with fanatics with your WM's, to kill off ambushers. Use two or three rocklobbas, beastman blocks should drop as flies. Divers and/or chukkas are cool for monsters, chariots, minotaurs, razorgors and whatnot. :) Big blocks, as usual...

I have never played against Beastmen, but i tried to pick out the obvious bits. :D

Snotling pump wagons work great to kill minotaurs two pump wagons should cause roughly 6 wounds killing two minotaurs. This severely weakens most minotaur units to an easily handable size.

Also fanatics work great against their big monsters minotaurs, jabberslythe ect.

The Jabberslythe if you face it should be killed fast before it lands amongst your army causing wounds against leadership checks. Be especially wary if you play an all goblin army as this could really hurt after 1 or 2 turns.

As I usually play against my friends who have a beastmen and a daemon army I found my tactics for countering beastmen to depend largely on the amount of points allowed.

There are a couple of basic rules I have though...
Keep in mind, these are mainly based on a gobbo-only army!

-1-
Do no expect to overpower their shamans in the magic area, beastmen have better spells and depending on the player there is a good chance of a high level shaman being present. Therefor I generally limit the amount of shamans I use myself, I often only take a lvl1 or 2 night gobbo shaman in order to field a dispel scroll and cast the odd spell when I am really lucky (usually all my shizzle goes fizzle due to being outmatched by higher ranking shamans).

-2-
Doom Divers for the win! Deploy as many as possible and target the units that have the shamans. IF you get lucky, you can take down a shaman with a single launch, otherwise (if you don't missfire or go way off target) you usually hit a unit instead due to a succesful look-out-sir save. With my lucky dice I have managed to take down a lvl 4 shaman in the first round of shooting on more than one occasion. Keep in mind though, this does not happen very often.

-3-
Musicians make pretty musics! If you are about to get charged by anything larger than an ungor, forget horde formation and go five wide and as deep as possible. This will create one hell of a tarpit and offer you the chance to flank with another unit. Personally I try to get the beastman player to charge my goblins and then flank him with squigs.

-4-
Minotaurs smell! Therefor bring something that stinks worse, e.g. Trollz! Luckily Warhammer is one of the games where trolling is totally acceptable! Minotaurs might hit hard, but trolls can regenerate just as fast. At the least they'll keep them busy until you can spank their butts with another unit.

-5-
This is for the people who hate losing and don't mind being called a totally friggin' gimp by their friends.... Create a gobbo horde of 50 archers and put a BSB with the Spider Banner in it. Then go volley fire all the way and watch your opponent cry like a little girl as your gobbos take down any opponent on the roll of a 6 to hit!

Basically, when my gobbo horde is facing a beastmen army, all they need to do is create a few tarpits, make sure they have some squig units to flank and bring ahelluvalot of artillery. At least that is what works for me!

Get rid of his Shamans as soon as you can, especially if he ha a Herdstone.

Make him come to you, and make them pay every step with missle fire. Beasts hate that.

Try and match up his Bestigors with either a unit of Black orcs or Big 'Uns. They will be swinging first on 4s, and wounding on 3s while negating armour saves the first turn. They will have to wade through a whole turn of choppas (Obviously double choppas) just so they can swing their great weapons.

Ahhhhhhhhh Kill the Treadomancer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dem beastys are just like every other army out there, Smash em wit a Choppa and dey die!!!!!!!!!!

Not bad tactics but 50 gobbos with poison is still just 50 gobbos....................Make it 100 :D
