The Karibbean Kourt: An Old Grey Beards Character Contest

All,
Here is the first of what I hope are many contests from your friends at the Old Grey Beards! In an effort to further the creation efforts of Da Karibbean setting and as a chance to have input from all fellow gamers, we are presenting this contest:

And there is a microcosm of the Karibbean Kourt, a true rogues galley as it were. So what am I looking for in this contest? Six other Pirate Lords of course, to join BlackSquig on the current roster of Da Karibbean Kourt! Contest parameters as follows:

Interested parties should plan on designing a Pirate Lord character that I can add to the lore of the Karibbean, characters that will be included in future writings involving the campaign setting, characters that will be added to the roster of the Kourt for all to see, characters that may or may not meet feast or famine. These characters should of course live up to all of the rules of conduct for Pirates (IE, there are none!) While not becoming part of any sort of intellectual property of sorts, I do ask that folks allow me to use their creations as I see fit, in the framework of the campaign setting. No I do not plan on randomly killing off folks (though with a Tarlen submission I might be tempted….)! What I am looking for in each submission is:

Originality
Creativity
Diversity

Please note that your creations' race can be from any of the following Warhammer rulebooks. If a race is not listed, it’s not what I am looking for. NO offense is intended to any rats, lizards, beasts, tree huggers or other world creatures!

My biggest piece of advise here is keep it simple! And what do you get for your hard work. Immortality in the annuals of Karibbean History of course! OK, not enough? Well then my treacherous Gitz, I have a fair amount of booty that I am offering up for your creations, including the new Ahzagh the Slaughterer mini, the OOP Ahzagh the Slaughterer mini, an Orc Man O War fleet and other cool bounties. But, I do mean BUT, I am going to be looking for quality work here ladz. I cant give up da booty if the juice aint worth the squeeze, saavy?

A few issues still not sorted out. I was thinking of allowing folks to have multiple entries. Good idea or bad one? Also, if I did allow up to three entries, would it be a good idea to put up a voting poll here with the entries so you folks can help me pick the winners? Looking for feedback here.

Last thing gitz, the contest starts today March 9th, and I will be accepting entries up until April 4th. You can email me your entries either here on Da Warpath or at snagafang@yahoo.com. Make sure you put The Karibbean Kourt Contest in your header so I dont throw it in the spam folder! Leaving me a pm here is likely the best way. I have made the contest open on my local hobby shops forum as well, any activity there I will share here!

I do mean to put an entry in, but I've been a bit distracted of late.

I was thinking of a non-orc pirate lord. I'm not sure if I'll go with Estalian or Kislev.

Sounds good! I now have 5 entries, and only one of them is a greenskin, so either of these is a fine idea. In fact I am hoping to get a good mix for the contest. I am going to post the list of booty this weekend and might extend for an extra week or so to get a good mix of ladz to choose from.

I was thinking of maybe posting the works with authors and letting folks vote on their three favorites? Let the community as a whole pick out their favorites, with me acting as a tie breaker? Not sure, something I am thinking about right now.

Is it OK to do this? And if so, can it be set to let folks vote for, say, their favorite Three entries? Maybe I can check with the A4.5 crowd too, there is alot of characters over that way too...

I don't think you can do a multiple choice poll here, though perhaps you can on AC. Happy for you to set it up in the WWW section though and of course, you have free reign on AC matey! Could be a nice way to get some new folks interested in our Pirate Book Project.

I wanted to get an entry for this, but I've been really busy the past couple of weeks :( Hopefully I'll find time before the closing date!

I am going to expand the dealine until the 22nd of May. I know folks are involved in a bunch of projects right now and havent had a chance to consider if they even wanted to contribute a character. You gotz plenty o time mate! Come on ladz! There is still plenty of time. I only have 6 submissions so far! I know we can do better!

You know, I've been dreading reading this thread as I see new posts. I just haven't had time to think much about this. I'm quite happy, though, to see it extended. Maybe I can get some time and energy to pull something together.

Made the change to the above. It has been a tough road to be sure, there are so many quality characters that were submitted! Final tally, along with backgrounds and such that everyone sent in will be posted on Saturday! I have the ladz stuffing, er, counting the ballot boxes now!
