Warrior Great Shaman

A caster that will not be a bad fighter.

I want to put him in a unit of Savage Boar Boy's Big Ums.
I want him to be just a little bit stronger than the rest of the unit.

I have not tested it yet. Please post any idea's about this:

Oi,
I think that shamans can't take shield, even magic one.
But fighting shaman is interesting option.
I used Shagga Sword+Amulet of Protectyness + Chariot. He fought well, very well I would say.
In SOBB unit I would field him like this:
Best Boss At and Martog Basha, to protection and Ironback Boar to add some punch.
D3 Str 5 impact hits +4 Str 5 attacks. Waaagh. :D

You are right about the shield. I just read that in the rulebook.

Ironback Boar is a good idea. You don't have to buy a lose boar if you have tha magic item..... saves me 24 points.

I have 2 charriots in my list at the moment. But I's not bad if I make a list with only one. CHARRIOTS KICK ASS. In your face always strike first (I have played against a lot of high elfs).

the best warrior great shaman i've ever heard of is:
savage great shaman (500)
lvl 4, wyvern, skull wand of kaloth, WAAAGH! paint, bigged's kickin' boots

best character killa ever!!! and can get a few spells off

I like this Shaman Warrior on the Wyvern, but other than very careful movement, how would you keep him alive from shooting? I have been using a Black Orc War Lord on a Wyvern and shooting is a big problem even with the armor.

I think I might try the fighting Shaman on Ironback Boar, great ideas.

Oi,
Skull of Kaloth again. I think it isn't a character killer. I would say Skull is almost useless against characters.
Typical Hero, you want to kill has WS 6 and Ld 8, so:
3 attacks, half hits, he pass 72% his tests, so you has less than 50% chance to kill soft enemy hero. Not bad, but your hero cost 500 points!
If you attack his lord, odds are even worse, more likly you hit only on 5+, and with Ld 9, he pass 83% his tests. Less than 30% to kill.
That's very risky, and somewhat very orkish. But imagine what enemy lord would do with Shammy if he survive. 70% for having green pulp instead of Great Shaman. :D
On the other hand, Varghulf, Wraiths, War Hydra, Hellcanon, Beast of Nurgle, Stegadons... with their low Ld are perfect aims for Wand.
I would field Savage Shaman, on boar with Kaloth, cheap (160pt) and effective.

yeah but on a boar you can't choose your fights like you can on a wyvern. With a wyvern the warrior great shaman can go around killing wizards, flanking not so nasty units etc. On a boar u lose the flying.

I've been thinking about putting a shaman on a wyvern. I might not even get him into shooting all the time, but get him in the rear of the enemy to cause problems and cast spells. I'm used to playing a wyvern lord, so I know how to avoid shooting and war machines. I know that sometimes I would have to get him into combat.

I was thinking the skull wand would be a great item to use to take out those big and stupid beasts (see list above). I was wondering, though, do you have to go with a savage orc shaman? The extra attack is nice, but the having to attack someone in 20" range is not so much. Anyone play a regular shaman on wyvern?

Anyone do a lvl 2 savage shaman on boar with skull wand? While it might not be the best option, it is something that I might be willing to throw away at a target.
