Shameless re-bump for the mIRC Channel/Java Client idea. Just so we don't forget about in down the road after recent messy events.

Since in the newbie forum there is a thread building about finding an opponent, what about a database? People could input their approximate location and then people could find opponents easily. Maybe something like a Google Earth file?

Although it is a bit dangerous to put your location online... but we could make a database with major cities, so they don't know exactly where you live.

I agree with both of the above suggestions. I believe the mod team was working on something like what GamerGirl said, so I won't say too much.

But as for my good friend AIB234, just keep bothering Goofy or someone about it so it's not forgotten. The admins and mods are very busy people on here and in their real lives :)

I thought there was a fapper account that was built for Warpath members already? Perhaps we need to start a new one given that the link was probably wiped out and that we should do an update.

As far as other options for hosting the site, it is a good suggestion and some are exploring options. I agree with ACDM on that.

If I may offer, I have no problem setting up the mIRC channel for DWP.

It will take me 15 minutes MAX and I will simply hand over ownership to a MOD here when they arrive.

I can also write up a quick tutorial on how to use mIRC for newbs.

However, we're looking more at having an IRC aplet as a page on the mainsite for those users who don't have/don't want IRC ;)

Of course, it never hurts to have *twice* the amount of operational ability, so we would certainly like to keep the idea of an IRC channel open too :D

how about getting the warstore or some other store to sponsor a conversion/ painting
contest ? Complete with prize support from them in return for advertising......... it worked in the past if I remember correctly and with the talent some fo our member shave this would be a really cool contest with some dropdead gorgeous stuff coming from it. Have it themed for the Nemesis Crown campaign. If we do this, we could possibly get it in White Dwarf.
Also maybe we could do a write up about Da-Warpath as a gaming club/forum complete with history,etc and get it in WD. Do you realise how many new members this would get if we got put into the WD? How cool would it be? Im going to make a few calls and talk to a few folks who could help make this a real possibility......they just did a write up on some club or another that had less than 100 members and wasnt an online forum.

That's a brilliant idea. It would be wonderful if someone could make that stuff work.

One thing springs to mind. Sometimes I come across an online store with products I'm interested in, be it models or paint or hobby supplies. I am however a bit sceptic before ordering online, a result of my brother working in credit card security and hearing some pretty scry stories.

Perhaps it would be usefull to collect a list of trustworthy sites, from where they ship, and with feedback about the quality of the offered products and services.

How about we do like the Ogre Stronghold did by members having pet gnoblars but for us it would be pet Snotlings or something like that.

Yeah that would be better. More people check the General board, then the board it is on currently.

I'd like to see a 40k section back along with the specialist games section back on the forums.......especially with the new Orks codex coming out soon.....

That's not too bad an idea actually :) Since the awards aren't really 'Off Topic' per say...

As for a 40K board - unfortunately we had very few members who actually did anything there. Traffic was also very low :(

With the new Ork Codex in the pipeline and Apoclypse on the shelves, however, there might be a bit more interest, so I think I'll set up a poll to see how much interest there is with the rest of the community for a 40K section again.

actually, I second that. Though there weren't many of us, I did enjoy reading the posts there. And since a number of people here will prob be seduced by the new 40K orcs, there is bound to be the need for some discussion

I’ll dip my toe into the suggestion box (Consider it a festive suggestion) and a sort of follow on from Barmybob´s post a while back..

This may well have been done before but what about a regular (say every couple fo months) site painting competition. Keep it low key and friendly with targets like “single mounted rank and file” (so people should be painting them anyway as part their armies) with a poll at the end. You could even go further and give out “Bidiot-style” badges to winners for their signatures (Although perhaps at this point I´m getting carried away!) :D .

I know painting competitions are a bit if a “love-hate” thing but personally I really enjoying looking at other peoples work and thought it might be worth a go. If the first one flops, then there simply isn´t a second.

I miss the original warpath skin. I woud love to see it back again.

And the painting and hobby section is swamped in sticky threads. Make one list with the most important ones and unsticky the rest.

Yeah I miss the old warpath skin too this one is just too 'green'. Oh well I can live with this one though, because since orc and goblins are all about GREEN!!

I think we should have a section for the new members we receive, like a sort of welcome mat? I think it would encourage the new members we recdeive to introduce themselves.

Ok - so many of you do not know me since I have been away for a bit - ok a year plus... but I have great orcy excuses!

Regardless, I have just compiled a list of every suggestion in this thread. And prioritized them (since almost half are already weeks away from implementation.)

About the contests - that was my bag, and I am TOTALLY ready to get back into it!

What do you gobbos think of two mini-exchanges a year, and two paint contests? So every three months you have something?

Goof and others have been working on the chat room, it exists (in a secret hidey hole) we just want to make sure it plays nice.

The rest of the ideas will be addressed (probably one a week for the next couple of months). And when I say addressed I mean applied. These are great ideas.

And darn it - are we not in warvault? We have been twice before, then there are issues, and we are not there anymore. We will check into it.

Really like the idea of regular painty comps and mini exchanges, the last mini exchange I found great fun.

We used to be in warvault there is even a link right at the bottom of our forum pages, with a placeholder "Warvaults fantasy list", but they recently did a redesign and it looks like they lost us.. :(

I like the idea of the three month competition/exchange cycle, one altruistic, one self-interested. Should work well and if we find we're all too busy then the deadlines can always be stretched.

Problem has been getting someone willing to start off a new tactica-thread for the new generations of lists <_<

On the same level of discussion, we've been looking to get members who play certain 'flavors' of Greenskins to write tacticas for us. For example, we get a lot of new members wanting to start a Pure Night Goblin Horde - so we need a tactics thread for that. And a thread for Pure Orc Hordes etc.

So, to everyone reading: If you've got 7th Edition Specific tactics to offer, let us know so we can start re-building our 'database' for the new armybooks :D
