Title: Da Shipraiders
Description: 03/20/07: Pics of Spider Rider

Grulkhor Shipraider - February 21, 2007 09:49 AM (GMT)
Well, I'm also starting an army blog :D. Okay, my painting skills are actually pretty weak, but I'm still learning! Eventually, this army will become a mighty (or not so mighty) 3000 points army. At the moment, I have slightly more than 1000 points, and almost nothing painted - I need a new spray.

Okay, so here's the first one, Fizgisk Sneakyrun, a Goblin Big Boss on a Wolf with the Backstabber's Blade, shield and light armour. He will lead 9 Wolf Riders with full command to eh... victory... In my 1000 points battle last weak, they ran off in the first turn, dam'n those asrai bows! I don't know what those weird wires are .
Anyway, here's the first, Fizgisk from the flank:

Fizgisk in the front:

Then, next one is Smasha da Troll. When Fizgisk fled last time, Smasha had his ld4 against him, and failed all stupidity tests but one in that battle. On my ship, Smasha will be da trezzur keep, so all the gold on his back are actually pieces of gold stuck on him :D. Smasha won't be part of the actual army, but the model is just to nice.

Da Big Skullmoonz and Da Bigger Skullmoonz, 30 and 40 Night Goblins. The models are a mix of the nex boxed set, Battle for Skull Pass, and some very old metal models. The Skull Pass spears have been 'converted' into hand weapons, some have Khemri/Beastmen weapons. Night Goblins with Khemrian scimitars are very funny ^_^. My favourite model it the champion in the biggest unit, I presume it's an old Squig Herder. Not sure about that though. There are around ten of the 70 painted, so still lots of work to do! The flashy painted ones are the old metal ones, I'll repaint them asap.
Da Bigger Skullmoonz, 40 Night Goblins: (note the champ!)

Okay, the pics aren't to good, but it's pretty difficult to make good pictures of 'em... I'll be painting Night Goblins for the coming weeks. When they are done, I'll start on the Wolf Riders. Next is probably a box of Orcs. I'll buy a Giant soon, just to make the model, but I will leave the painting for later.

Hertz - February 21, 2007 10:44 AM (GMT)
so you are gonna make 3000 points of goblins? you are as crazy as me!
well, at least your painting will have possibilities to improve. And dang you got a lot of different colours already! purple troll? I donīt recognice that champion, are you sure that he isnt converted? :D

badgut - February 21, 2007 10:52 AM (GMT)
it's hard to tell from the pics but the champion seems to be a 5th ed model! can you give us some close-ups?

Well, I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you, I'll also have some Orcs... But indeed, a lot of Gobbo's. Yeah, purple troll, I love purple, and with green being my second favourite colour, the choice was pretty obvious for Smasha. I think Badgut is right about the champ, all the metals in the units are 5th ed I think. Close-ups of the Champ coming soon!

Angelos - February 21, 2007 09:08 PM (GMT)
The champion looks to be a conversion from something from around this era, I at first though it might be form an old cgariot crew but I still couldn't find it,

look around this site a little more...

Grulkhor Shipraider - February 21, 2007 09:40 PM (GMT)
Hmm, I don't know, I bought sixteen of those little bastards and a lot of old grenadier models for a symbolic price of €1 :D. Normally, I'll see the guy who sold them to me this Sunday, I'll ask him...

Grulkhor Shipraider - February 22, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
Well, I've painted three more Night Goblins, a fourth is undercoated...

This is the best I could get of Dobba, the metal champ-thingie... No idea about his origins, hope I meet the dude this sunday!

I really like the troll the purple with green on its spine is really unique, defintily an eye catcher on the field ; P

Warlord Ghazak Gazhkull - February 23, 2007 02:36 PM (GMT)
There is some cool stuff between that. I like the fact that you are mixing up old school goblins with the skull pass goblins.

only 3000pts :P, I can field a goblin army from around 5000pts without stretching it .

Thats impressive WGG, I can probly only hit 3000 without stretching my gobbos.
How many of that 500 points are painted?...Ive got 260 common gobbos on foot and 30 wolfriders painted, Plus several warmachines and some snotters

badgut - February 24, 2007 08:34 PM (GMT)
This champion model intrigues me, i thought i knew all of the goblin models from 5th ed but i've never seen this one, I honestly can't see any signs of conversion. Saying that i'm not 100% sure it's a gw model, there are companys that make reasonable copies, just be sure you let us know where it came from, it's getting on my nerves now.

Grulkhor Shipraider - February 25, 2007 12:31 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the comments guys. I talked to him today, and indeed, it is not a GW model! It's very nice though, and just the right size. It is from the 'Fantasy Warriors' game. Funny, becaue the Goblin is the same size or even bigger than the Fantasy Warriors Orc models I have...

Thats why I counldn't find it <_< Glad to hear you found out what it was, it even looks like it could be a GW model :o , and for the record I can get to 2500 with my goblins :D

Grulkhor Shipraider - February 26, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
I've finished this very, very nice Night Goblin model today. When I took the pictures, I noticed some small details and stuff, they are now really finished. Enjoy these pictures, although it's not the completely finished version. Note the confusing purple/metal thingy on his side! It's just a normal soldier, but I gave him a name, it's Hopper ^_^.

Well 2500pts has paint on it but there bases aren't done, maybe 3000. But I think I have more point goblins, I will recount them one.

Now back on topic: Nice looking model but I don't think that it is a hopper I believe that it is a 5ed clubber ;).

Dude, WGG, he named the clubber "Hopper" ;)

Neat, anways :)
I agree, it's quite a tasty model
Details a plenty, I use my clubber as generel for my army ('till I get a Warboss done...and a force for him to boss over ^_^ ).

Also, I belive the purple icon is a moon
Edit:Looking at it now, I'm not really sure

Cool to see all these classic models.
Keep up the work ;)

oops, I haven't read the whole post , well that is what I get posting so early in the morning .

Dam'n... I have painted like nothing for a whole month! Now I'm back in the business :D.

Look at this, it's Gripper on his trusty spider! Spider rider champion. I painted this before I stopped painting. I will not use this colour scheme for al spiders, I prefer mixed colours with cavalry. It's not like all the grey wolves will come together in one regiment banning all brown ones, is it?

EDIT: goddam'n those pics suck! Excuse me for it... Still learning.

Don't beat yourself up over the pics Shipraider - it isn't easy!

A few handy tips for you though!
  • Rest the camera on something solid - a pile of books or the back of a chair will do, but a tripod is the best answer!
  • Crop your images so it's just the models.
  • Use Imageshack's "resize image?" facility - 640x480 is a good size.
  • Use the img tags:

I can't say much from the pic's they look kinda blurry to me. I agree with the tips that you got from Kurgan. Also turning on the macro function can help a little bit.

From what I can see It looks prety nice, like the spider color scheme:) Also for a bettter picture try taking a pic of computer paper and ising it as a backround for your picture, it will reflect light back as well, if you wanna be really fancy print out a gradient on powerpoint and use that, ^_^

Tisk Tisk... a mod not reading the post, and just going straight for the pics...

 No I was joking, everyone does it (especially me :D ) but what I think he meant is that he named his goblin "hopper".

Coincidental, but whatever.

And again back on topic: I like what you have so far. Keep us updated! Nice color scheme on the spiders, I think you should use it for your mob

Change of plan! Inspired by Arfa's wonderful Roundish Table, I decided I had to do some Special Gobbo thing... No Pirates for me! Here's the plan:
Escaped Dawi Zharr Slaves!
I'll buy some chains and add them to the painted models and stuff. Some special things and stuff... Tomorrow I'll make a new army list, featuring almost no Orcs (only Black Orc regiment) and special squig-thingies... Thanks Arfa!

EDIT: WTF, no Dawi Zharr... Dark Elves! Why did I type Dawi Zharr? Confused, confused.

Grulkhor Shipraider - April 21, 2007 06:47 PM (GMT)
40 Night Goblins finished last week, pictures hopefully tomorrow!
Anyway, I am looking for an Orc head with a rather... not stupid, all Orcs are stupid, but more an expressionless look. Does anybody know there is such a head?
