Castiel narrowed his eyes at Lucifer, jaw clenching a few times. The thing in front of him had no right to judge anyone, hand picked or not by God. “I’ll always have faith in Dean. In the Winchesters. In God. Something that you will never deserve to have again.” He said, raising his head almost defiantly at Lucifer. If he was going to be destroyed, if his demise was going to come at the hands of the devil then Castiel was determined to make sure he died with his beliefs in tacked, and heard. Lucifer didn’t have the power to tell him to stop having his faith, no one did. Though Castiel had doubts, he’d always have faith. After throwing Lucifer into the opposite wall and ramming into him, Castiel tried to keep up the force to keep Lucifer pinned but was pushed back by the other man.
“Now that, brother, is the one thing I do doubt. You will be stopped.” The angel felt Lucifers hand clamp around his throat and Castiel’s hand automatically gripped around his wrist, prepared to pry off his hand but he heard the Latin first. It was old Latin. Made to drive an angel from it’s vessel and send it away. Castiel blinked a few times, his head filling with the sound of the words, making it harder to concentrate. His essence began to tear itself away from the walls of his vessel, his limbs starting to lose their strength. No. This had happened once before with Alistair. Mustering up his strength, Castiel slammed his head forward into Lucifer’s, forehead colliding with forehead, hopefully enough to rock the other man enough so he’d stop the chant.

Castiel had his doubts, he wasn't sure what to call right and what to call wrong anymore but he still had his faith. It was solid enough that he would argue it until the day he was destroyed, which might possibly be today. He wasn't hopeful that he would survive, but he pleaded silently to whoever would listen above that he would live long enough to see Dean, Sam and Isabel get away to safety. It would assure that at least the world had hope for stopping the fallen angel in front of him. He would continue to voice the beliefs of his Lord, no matter what. Loyalty, in whatever form, was an honored thing among his brothers, something that he believed used to matter to Lucifer. And he would make sure that the Winchester brothers survived long enough to take the fallen angel down.
For a moment, Castiel was sure he was going to be ripped from his vessel. Trying to expand his entity in the body he inhabited, the angel focused on reattatching himself to every muscle, ever fiber of Jimmy's body to try and stay in but it was hard to focus with the old Latin words echoing through his head. But as soon as he was able to distract Lucifer with a blow to the head, Castiel felt himself be released and the angel staggered backwards, sucking in some air and regaining his composure, almost smug when he heard Lucifers scream of pain and irritation. He wasn't the most powerful among his brothers, but Castiel refused to lose easily in this fight. After a second, the angel looked up, prepared to strike another blow to his enemy but Lucifer was quicker and he felt himself flying across the room before he could counter the blast of power.
Hitting the wall hard and then the ground with a loud, thundering thud, Castiel swallowed the coppery tasting blood that had leaked from a cut on his lip into his mouth. He was getting battered from this fight, light purple bruises beginning to form on his face and vessel, gashes on his head but Castiel tried to shake away the dizzied feeling and slowly rose back to his feet. "You're the fool. Now...I'm telling you now, Lucifer. Walk away. Now." The angel repeated and outstretched his hand, gathering up what power he could to propel the other man upwards to the ceiling and then across the room. "Before you lose a battle that will damage your pride yet again." He said lowly, knowing that Lucifer's pride was a touchy subject. It was what had gotten him kicked out of Heaven in the first place.

Castiel knew that Lucifer used fear as a powerful weapon. To strike fear into the heart of your opponent almost meant you had won. If you could make them scared of you, intimidate them enough to a point when they would rather just die then face you was a weapon few people knew the power of using. It worked better then any knife, any physical punch. But he refused to let Lucifer do that to him. Castiel was an angel still, and he had his faith. He would not fear this creature in front of him. He promised that to himself. Looking over to make sure the hunters had managed to escape, Castiel felt a bit of relief hit him. He could continue this fight, draw it out, continue to taunt Lucifer as best as he could and best of all, make sure the hunters got far far away from this place. Far enough to where they could hide from this dark, fallen angel. Castiel had never felt an attachment to anyone, except perhaps his Father, but he felt the connection he believed humans called ‘friendship’ towards those hunters, towards the Winchesters.
And if the angel could keep them safe for a while longer by putting himself in the line of fire, then he would. It was his duty, as an angel, and a friend. Castiel’s ice colored eyes darted to the surges of electricity that erupted from Lucifer, and watched as the fallen angel stopped himself from hitting the other wall, and landed lightly on his feet. Castiel was expecting that. At Lucifer’s questions, Castiel faltered a little bit, but he quickly caught himself. “He is not hiding. I have faith he will come back. And I’m going to be the one to find him. Find him so he can destroy you.” Castiel said lowly, nodding his head as he trained his eyes on Lucifer. “My brothers, your former brothers, may not be here but…theirs hope still. We will defeat you. I may not be able to promise you anything else, but I can promise you that. And as long as people have faith in Him, you’ll never win.” He said, taking a brave step towards Lucifer, head tilted upwards. “You will never win.”
