Her brow arched up as she took her own glass and lifted it. “Be careful cowboy…” She started before clinking her glass to him and brought it to her lips. “With that nickname, I might think you’re hooked on me.” She added before finally taking that sip. Her blue eyes never strayed away from his gorgeous face.

She really should snap out of this. It was just wrong. And what was she supposed to tell Chris when she gets home? Okay. After dinner, she was going to tell him she had fun and that she had to go. No more flirting after this.

Setting the glass back down, she took her burger and sank her teeth into it again. Better start distracting herself now rather than later.

“Be careful cowboy…”

"Careful?" he repeated. A grin spread across his face at that, his hair moving as he shook his head in response. "No fun in that, Lane."

“With that nickname, I might think you’re hooked on me.”

A slight sigh came from as he settled back in the booth, his eyes studying her appreciatively. The corners of his mouth curled slightly, his head tilted to allow him to view all the way down her legs before his gaze was brought back to her eyes. For a moment, he stared into her eyes and then proceeded to glance out the window right at her back for a second. Once more, his eyes returned to her.

"I wouldn't have any idea what you mean," he replied innocently as he moved to take a bite of his food.

The fact that he didn’t even hide the way he had checked her out told her something. Warning bells ran inside her head like a damn fire truck racing down the street towards a burning building. Stubbornly though, she refused to acknowledge them. Oh she was going to regret doing something later. She was positively sure of that.

"I wouldn't have any idea what you mean,"

She huffed out softly. “Right.” She managed to reply as she set her half eaten burger down.

“Of course you don’t have any idea what I meant.” She repeated obviously teasing him about it.

“Right.”

While she sat her burger down, he brought his own up to his mouth to sink his teeth into. This place really did have some good food. Then again, maybe it was just his mood was good because he had pleasant company around him.

“Of course you don’t have any idea what I meant.”

Chris slowly smiled at that. "Nope, none," he replied. "I mean I'd have to have a taste before I could ever get hooked. It's the same for everyone, right?" The the question was asked in a serious tone, his eyes showed that he was joking with her.

For whatever reason, he was drawn to her and it had been so long since he felt something like this. Chris wasn't for sure what it was, something more then wanting a random hook up. Maybe he should have Lily meet her, see if she picked up on something he wasn't. Hey, he wasn't stupid, you couldn't always trust your feelings, especially with creatures out there that could easily manipulate you.

Ugh! And he had to go and point that bit out! Her blue eyes settled intently on him. She had to remind herself to get a grip. She wasn’t supposed to do this. She wasn’t supposed to feel any pull towards another guy not when she had one of her own. One that had wanted to offer her marriage. And that somehow brought her tight grip on her invisible reign. Adam was out there waiting for someone to find him and eventually save. And that someone was going to be her.

She moved to pay attention to her fries as she finally tore her eyes away from him.

“An’ that’s not going to happen.” She replied back in a playful manner as she grabbed a fry and popped it into her mouth before allowing her blue orbs to stray back to him.

“Is it?”

Man, she really had some blue eyes and they were gorgeous! Chris was sure he could get lost in them for more then a few hours. That thought made him glance down to his drink, which he reached for and took a long gulp of. That wasn't a thought he was used to having about women. Sure, he wanted to find the right one, but he never had thoughts about any of the other girls he'd hooked up with or anything. So why this one?

“An’ that’s not going to happen.”

Chris glanced back up at her, his glass back on the table as he gave a slight smile. "Of course not," he agreed.

“Is it?”

"Is it what?" he asked to clarify what she wanted an answer to. He wasn't just going to assume anything, he knew better then that or well, he hoped he did. "Was that question for what I asked about it being the same for everyone or if it was going to happen?"

She knitted her delicate brows when he clarified her last inquiry.

"Was that question for what I asked about it being the same for everyone or if it was going to happen?"

Rachel just huffed softly. “You know what? Nevermind.” She threw him a smile before paying attention to her food. Her hand reached for her drink and moved to pull it up to her lips. She took a small sip before picking up another fry and instead of popping it fully into her mouth she bit it in half. Once again she dared to stray her blue orbs back to the man that was occupying the seat across from her.

“Ever think of getting a haircut or something?” She randomly asked as she tilted her head slightly to the side.

“You know what? Never mind.”

Chris grinned over that. Well it seemed he had her on the fence and he'd be man enough to admit he liked it. It was intriguing to see a woman like her for a change, one who was sexy and sensible. She didn't just flirt shamelessly, but in a more innocent manner. Though he had no doubts that she knew she was doing that, it was a refreshing change for him. Chris loved a challenged.

“Ever think of getting a haircut or something?”

"No, if I did that what would the ladies hold on to?" he asked with a slight grin. Then he shook his head, the hair following from side to side. Though it was long, it wasn't that long, just a little past his ears. Hell, this was shorter then when Matthew went through his rebel stage as a teen and had that long, wild hair due, kid even dyed it red once. Now that was funny shit right there.

"I don't look so great with shorter hair," he finally admitted. "I used to keep it short, then went on this hunting trip and never had time to cut it. When I came home my baby sister informed me I looked much hotter with long hair, so I kept it."

Her eyes bulged at his response. “Oh God…” She said as she rolled her eyes and threw a fry at his direction. “Pig headed much?” She added as she shook her head at him. Of course her reaction had all been an act because damn it what he just told her sent some pleasure inducing images in her head. Even the area between her legs agreed with her. Just to get her mind off it, she threw another piece of fry at his direction.

"I don't look so great with shorter hair,"

That was his excuse?

"I used to keep it short, then went on this hunting trip and never had time to cut it. When I came home my baby sister informed me I looked much hotter with long hair, so I kept it."

Rachel chuckled at that. “Baby sister… “ She repeated. Right. “So, hunting trip huh? What’d you hunt? Deer? Bear?”

“Oh God… Pig headed much?”

Chris laughed at what she said, plus the fact she threw a fry at him. With a shrug, he picked up said fry and ate it. "Couldn't really answer that, I'd be biased."

“Baby sister… “

"Yes," he replied with a nod. "I have two of them, actually. So when one of them tells me something looks good and will catch a woman's eye, I tend to listen. After all, I'm a guy, my understanding of your gender is seriously lacking or so my little sister says."

“So, hunting trip huh? What’d you hunt? Deer? Bear?”

"Something like that," he replied. Actually he had went on a hunt for a werewolf, but he really didn't think she'd believe that. Who would, even he had trouble believing some of that stuff actually was real. "It was big and mean, that was for damn sure."

She nodded slowly. “Ahh…” She replied as she did so. Okay so maybe he did have two sisters, but somehow she found herself being guarded still. She couldn’t help it, he was too attractive to her that she had to make herself not believe in most of everything he said to her. Surely he can’t hold that against her can he?

"Something like that," Slightly, the huntress knitted her brows.

"It was big and mean, that was for damn sure."

Rachel couldn’t help but laugh softly at that and she shook her head. If only he knew what big and mean meant to her and her stepfather and for every damn hunter she knew. “Wow…” She replied back to her like any normal girl would.

“I don’t mean to be a buzz kill but I think you guys should leave those bears and deer alone. Technically, they are harmless. Unless of course threatened. I mean how would you feel if some stranger just waltzed inside your home?”
