I've set up a forum which is attached to my wife's childminding web site Charlies Cherubs.
The site is pretty basic at the moment so I've got a lot of content to add to it. The forums though are mainly aimed at parents in the Sussex area who want to post about anything and everything. You can get to the forums either through the main site or through Sussex Mums If the forums take off then the idea is to host them seperately. Now the problem is this. How the heck do I get people to visit the forums and join in. This one was easy enough, a group of divers who were always emailing each other about going diving. Set up a forum and add a few bits and see how it goes. From that point of view everything is working fine, we don't have loads of posts or members which also means we don't get trolls and everybody knows each other. Not knowing that many mums in West Sussex provides it's own set of complications. so any ideas about how to promoite the site or if you know anyone who would join the forums and be one of the founder members then go ahead. Thanks for any help and advice Ted -------------------- Don't people put some crap in this bit !!

if you want to drive traffic to the forums, you could try using Google adwords ( adwords.google.co.uk ) - use keywords like 'sussex' 'nursery' 'parents' 'childminder' and your ad will be displayed to people looking for those things.
Local newspaper's worth a shot as well; posters in GP surgeries, etc. At first glance, the site looks good. |
