Yep, all true.

I was in contact with Leigh yesterday and he confirmed that him and Mark Andrews had finally got it all together and reached the rest of the wreck of the Yolanda off Shark Reef.

200m to deck level and 205 to the stern, new world record for deepest wreck on OC - old record 193m.

He promised to send me further details including some piccies hopefully - don't get too excited though it could quite easily be Easter before they arrive. Leigh will probably go walkabout for a while now.

As soon as I get anything you'll see it here first.

This last dive must have had some major effect on Leigh, he keeps replying to my e-mails straight away which is handy, especially since Karla came home I've got no-one out there to nag him.

I haven't got anything yet but he promised the pukka trip report as soon as they've put it together, so might be a while yet. I know from the In Deep Project they have to be a bit careful with what they give away if they are trying to sell the story to the magazines. Apparently Adam Butler (photographer) was on the boat for the whole week and took some great shots, obviously not at the very bottom but can't wait to see them.

I dont' know Adam that well I met him in the summer when they were warming up for the attempt in September, actually it might have had something to do with the different model he had with him each day that caught my attention. Although he is a brilliant photographer he hasn't been doing the underwater stuff that long and he was working hard to get up to speed. He is a freelance pro and I got the chance to see some of his library shots that are very impressive. You've probably seen some of his work without realising in magazines and newspapers, there was a lot of paparazzi type stuff that he obviously earns a living from but plenty of other great photos as well. Craig Nelson (takes most of the Chris Boardman photos in Diver) a very good camerman and top diver was also on the boat having come over for a weeks fun diving but once the two of them got together they gave us tekkies a run for our money, all the spare space was immediately filled with bits of camera and serious tool kits and the two of them were normally to be found having in-depth discussions on F stops and white balance.

I know Adam was constantly picking Craig's brains and you could see the difference just in those couple of days. From what I saw then I reckon Adam is probably really sorted now so these pictures ought to be well worth waiting for.

Daza,

Does this mean you're going to travel down to London just to go to the lectures ?

I admit they're good,.....................................but not that good.

Just thought I'd let you know.

Ian.

I've managed to get hold of a few pictures of the dive. Nothing spectacular yet but these are what are being sent out at the moment. Hopefully I'll get hold of some better ones later.

See World Record Photos (I've restricted it to registered members only so you need to be logged in on the gallery to see this file)

I've filled in the names of the people I know on the group shot, there are still a few unidentifieds (U/K) who I'll update as soon as I work out who they are. John Kean (Mr Smooth) was hard enough as he seems to have "gone troppo" and now looks like Grizzly Adams.

Official Dive Stats

Maximum depth :205 metres
Total dive run time: 205 minutes
Time on the wreck: 6 minutes

7 / 66 Bottom mix
16 / 43 Intermediate Trimix
52/ 15 Hyperoxic travel / lean deco. gas
80% EANx deco. gas

Leigh Cunningham's, rig:
Manifolded twin 18s with twin 12s as a quad, plus 2 x 15 litre slings
Mark Andrews', rig:
300 bar triple set of 12s, plus 2 x 15litre slings

I'm on the case but I'm not expecting anything in the immediate future, might have more luck after the magazine articles are sorted out.
