Just heard tonight that the CC have cancelled their National Rally at beginning of June due to the site they planned to use being water logged.
Can we all keep our eyes and ears open for news on fields etc that are planned to be used for 40's events in the near future.

Alex & Tony have arranged to camp at a campsite near Thorpe Camp for the weekend but the owners phoned them saying they are closed due to flooding sad.gif

What flooding. The rain was very heavy Friday, but the event went ahead. No rain either Sat or Sun to speak of really. Numbers were down though due to anticipation.

Nice dry weekend at Thorpe Camp.

In hindsight a e mail should have been sent to all group organisers stating the ground conditions & so-forth it is a long way to travel for some 100 miles + to find out if it is still on.

Hi. Yes all understood. It rained very heavy yesterday (Tuesday) and filled the pond up at the camp, nearly to overflow. What a rotten Summer. We have the 40s event at Woodhall Spa on the 21st 22nd July. So your guess is as good as mine as to what it will do.

Cheers, there is always next year.

David.

[B]FESTVAL OF THE 40'S CANCELLED

Hi all

It is with deep regret that i have to share this sad news with you.

THE HEALTH AND SAFTEY EXECUTIVE has taken the decision to cancel the event not us as organisers.

We are extreemly upset by this decision as this has been 18 months in the making.

Everyone involved has been totally amazing, and as an event WILL BE ANNUAL.

Although this is a punchy short email, we will be in touch in depth to thank you.

Lucky that somebody remembered we were away from home. We got the message from Mark as we were preparing to leave the site we were on to travel down to Peterborough. If we hadnt been informed and had gone there its lucky that we would not have had to cover too much extra mileage.
It was dry abd sunny on Thursday were we had been camped with only slight drizzle this morning.

If it wasnt for the fact that we were all packed up and putting the car on the trailer we might have asked if we could have stayed there for the weekend..........even tho the site was full of caravans from a one make club rally..... complete with obligatory fire buckets and idiots who dont really know anything about caravans.
