Couldn't agree with you more Steve -------------------- Before you criticise someone you should walk a mile in their shoes, that way, when you criticise them, your a mile away & you have their shoes.

I don'think this will be the only event hit by Red Tape this year ---everything is now targeted by either Health and Safety, finance or lack of volunteers who will 'take up the reins' and help. Also the problem is so many events are becoming victims of their own success and so all of the above become hazards of that success.

hi it would be nice if we concentrate on our event and not worry about what might happen at Haworth
after all it is the integraty of the group that would suffer if we do not a have a good turnout helpers still required!! Mal T |

That doesnt just mean Halfpenny Green Mal the other two blue events are at Cleethorpes which considering the amount of money and bending over backwards help Cleethorpes Council gave us at Operation Dragoon last year which theyre again doing with 2 big paying events, Cleethorpes flight and Operation Torchbearer theyre again been very good to Northern Forties. How many events lay on drinks, refreshments, cut price camping and fuel costs to boot. Surely on such events a good turnout for these matters too as we're the number one group so far with these 2 events and the integrity as a group before any other group would jump at it, Operation Torchbearer is much bigger this year.

This may well be a biased viewpoint since this is local to myself, however, the Festival of Flight is still in it's infancy and yet we are still being offered some funding to attend. Our support for it this year will ensure our involvement next year for which the Meridian Arena is being used and the event will be a full camping/displaying weekend.
There will be some very unique Wartime dog fighting which is to include an ME109 and Spitfire (currently this information is strictly for members only!!!), along with a number of other aerobatic displays, over the beach area and is looking set to become as large as the August event, albeit in a different style. (military history rather than 1940s) Although it has been given the name Festival of Flight, all services are being welcomed, both Allied and Axis which is rare for such an event. Surely since we are being offered help with travelling it would be a worthwhile event to see this and have a good day out, even if some of us decide not to stay for the full weekend, or bring full displays. We have displayed successfully at this type of event in the past and having a 'foot in the door' at the beginning would only put the group in good light for other such events in coming years. A Northern Forties 'keyword' is FUN and this is one of those events that is offering that. A fun day or weekend out, with a little help towards getting there and without the need for taking full camping displays etc, and the odd coffee thrown in |
