Gameplay: 10/12 Redsteel has many different locations throughout the game that are all unique. This makes each area have unique shootouts.
Graphics: 7/8 Your enimies look as though they could be actors. However, the lack of blood did make it seem unrealaistic. I'm not saying I need gushing gore and guts. But a person getting slashed by a sword with no blood?
Value: 7/10 The shooting gameplay in Red steel will have you entertained through most of the game. The sword fighting quickly gets old and tiresome.
Sound: 7/7 At certain points in a level you may overhear someone talking or fight someone who is swearing at you in japaneese. The game also has a catchy tune.
Originality: 3/5 There are plenty of games where the plot is to save your girlfriend. And thier have been plenty of games with Yakuza apperances.
Replay: 7/8 Some parts of the game have to be replayed, you can't help yourself. Howvever, some levels are just too long for your desire to replay it.
Score: 41/50
OVERALL SCORE: 82/100
Final notes: Your girlfreind is cpatured. Her father is dead. Now you must pick up your Wii remote and shoot your way to victory. Redsteel gives players a feel that thier in a PG-13 movie. However, the story feels bland. How many times have we seen a girlfeind get captuered and the boyfreind has to rise up and save her? The game does give some good twists though to make the story interesting. The swordfighting part of the game seems a bit forced. When an enemy with a sword appraoches, you are force to take out your sword instead of simply shooting. (Not very realistic) You must swing your remote to attack with your sword, these motions tend to seem incomplete. You also must know when to block and doge sword attacks, which can get confusing. You also can learn new moves with the sword but only two of the five sword techniques are easy and convienent to do. The one thing that makes reedsteel shine is it's explosions. Shooting a car or throwing a gernade can cause explosions that send your enimies flying and it is extremly fun to do. One last thing up your sleave is you ability to slow time. This ability makes this game have a Sci-fi effect. It dosent seem to fit in with the rest of you abilities. Despite these things, Redsteel offers fun gameplay that will be great japaneese gangster brawl. As for Mutliplayer.....well, it needs work.
