I wasn't sure whether to place this under Characters or Downtime, so if someone disagrees with my decision I have no issue with you moving it.

This is sort of a mixture of something I just wanted to do to expand my own characters, and and experiment for something I would like to discuss implementing on Crescendo. Detailed descriptions of a character's combat style are useful for visualizing duels with them, getting inside their head, or writing another character (with permission to do so).

Lord Iurus uses a very kinetic variant of Jar'kai, though not to the extent of two-handed Ataru. He incorporates the styles of Jar'kai with the leaps and twists of Teräs Käsi and the short, brutal strikes of Echani martial arts, creating a style which very closely resembles Juyo. When using only one staff, his fighting style is almost identical to the Juyo/Teräs Käsi blend that the Sith Lord Darth Maul was known for. He emphasizes physical, mystical and psychological attacks equally, often unleashing a Force blast or a bolt of Lightning in between volleys with his lightsabers and vibroblades, using more advanced Force techniques (physical or mental) if his opponent is knocked down or otherwise disabled. He varies between verbal taunts or utter silence during combat.

Neesh Shodu uses a very kinetic aspect of Ataru. While he is not strong enough in the Force for the high leaps and somersaults of Yoda, he is very dexterous physically and uses that to his advantage. He tends to act before he thinks, working on intuition and the guidance of the Living Force rather than planning his moves ahead of time. This makes him very unpredictable in battle, even to masters of intuition such as Master Yoda and the Aing-Tii. Very in tune with the Living Force, even Neesh often doesn't fully understand why he made or avoided making an attack until after the results come to fruition.

Agathon uses a wide and eclectic range of fighting styles, mostly because of the amount of equipment he carries. He mostly relies on speed and fast attacks to win his battles. Most of his equipment is light and/or easily carried, so he's able to pull this off quite well. He tries to carry the most potential damage packed into the least amount of weaponry, which was the basis of the design for his omnicorder. Since he's pretty much just an average Joe Schmoe out to save the galaxy, he spends more time developing/acquiring combat aids than actual weapons (his HUD with reticules, for example) to bring him on an even footing with beings like Jedi.

He relies mostly on ranged combat; his modular Cressya blasters and the long-range capabilities of his omnicorder. Those are usually effective to stop a foe; both are high-powered weapons and the Cressyas in particular are able to generate a sizable barrage. And the armor he wears contains coils to dissipate most standard blaster outputs. In ranged duels, he's usually supreme.

Melee combat is more of a problem, because unfortunately, most of the enemies he's come into contact with lately use either lightsabers or amphistaffs. Agathon's omnicorder has output settings that freeze the beam into either a blade or a whip, and this is his primary weapon when facing a melee foe. His military training on Jolimar and some drills with Revan have developed his skills to the point that he's been able to defeat a lone Yuuzhan Vong warrior (Dueling Ring vs. Mazul Serq) and at least hold off if not kill a Force user (Dueling Ring vs. Revan Onasi, RC: FoD vs. Cryth) As demonstrated in his many duels with melee warriors, though, he's made extensive use of his other weapons in helping to bring them down. Agathon toyed briefly with freezing the output of his Cressyas into a broadsword lightsaber (the broadsaber), but the weapon was an energy drain and had a limited range of motion. He pulls it out for parties and other special situations (Dueling Ring vs. Revan Onasi)

Vocari is commander of fourteen ships, so his fighting style deals mainly with fleet tactics. The Chancery Battalion is mostly comprised of small cruisers and frigates. Before the Steadfast was destroyed at Kashyyyk, Vocari would use the Star Destroyer as the core of his formation. Though the ship was horribly undermaintained, it was good for shock value and what minimal weaponry the battalion was able to maintain on it. Its bulk also provided cover for the other, smaller ships inside the battalion.

Although the largest ship is gone from the fleet, Vocari hasn't really needed to overhaul the CB's tactics all that dramatically. Smuggler tactics, absent any real theoretical military knowledge, usually consists of throwing what ships they have at the enemy en masse, and Vocari's preferred battle method mimics those tactics. Though each ship on its own may be weak, the collective firepower of the fleet is considerable, and Vocari likes to take advantage of that fact by grouping his ships close together, presenting as small a target as possible while concentrating the firepower in one place. This, he feels, is a more efficient usage of his fleet's unique abilities and traits. Starfighters figure heavily into Vocari's tactics as well. The CB carries an unusually large contingent of starfighters on its capital ships, and Vocari often likes scrambling all the fleet's fighters and sending most of them in front of the fleet as a vanguard with the Skiprays as missile pickets.

Kara is primarily a melee fighter, and she supplements hand to hand combat with her shielding. Her martial prowess and Force sensitivity enable her to be deadly with a beskad. Though she is also adept at manipulating threads, she doesn't have enough mental control to manage them in the heat of battle.

I'll start with Acacia, Acacia uses his height to channel kinetic energy into enormous strikes. He stands around 6'6 so he can bring enormous physical reserves to the table this coupled with the The Force can make his strikes tough to stop. One disadvantage though is that he's tall and thus has to defend a bigger space. He copes with this by using Force leaps and a second phase on his lightsaber that extends the blade to over three meters. His Force control is very good and he makes up power with connection to the Force. Lastly a lightning fast blow from his vibroknuckler can be what finishes off an opponent. For range he simply has a blaster that he wields with high accuracy due to The Force

Malin is way different, he's of average physical build and is a Force user but because of his mental instability is hard to stop. he comes like a wrecking ball, a furious snarling blur striking out with lightsaber, knife, and what not. He will lure an opponent close and then strike with the garrote which he uses with a malicious effect. In hand to hand combat with just bare fists he's been trained to a very high degree as an emperours hand. Attacking him with bare fists on fists is not advisable unless you are a Wookie. He has a G9 power blaster that he wields with decent accuracy but doesn't like ranged combat at all.

I like the way you reference past duels in your explanations, Agathon. I'll have to try that one of these days.
