Monterey Car Week on budget.

I've decided to write a quick guide for those people who are on a budget and wish to attend Monterey Car week. I hope this information will help!

Tuesday, August 16th:
Concours on the Avenue which is held in Carmel-By-The-Sea is a great way to spend an afternoon. The show is free and the car collection is awesome. Many good restaurants and shops to visit.

Wednesday August 17th:
You have multiple options on this day.
The Little Car Show in Pacific Grove is a free event. You'll see a lot of cool small cars.
Monterey Car Week Rally is another free event on this day. All you have to pay for is gas and food!

Thursday August 18th:
Wanna see Concours d'Elegance cars for free? Tour d'Elegance is a great event where you'll get to see the Concours cars drive into Carmel-by-the-sea. They park along Ocean avenue and spectators can walk right up to the cars.

Friday August 19th:
You have multiple options on this day.
If your a car spotter photographer and you want to catch cars on a highway then the Concorso Italiano is the place to be. After the event is over you get herds of fine automobiles leaving this event. A good place to park is on York road off highway 68.

Night life in down town Monterey is always exciting. Russo and Steel and RM auction cars can be seen by the general public in front of the Marriott and Portola plaza hotel. There’s plenty of restaurants and bars to enjoy some good food and cocktails.

Saturday August 20th:
Concours d'Lemons is free to spectators this year! They have the oddest collection of cars. This is a fun and laid back event. After the show you can take a stroll down the street to Chillis for some beers and burgers.

Lodging:
The further away you stay from Monterey the cheaper the hotel rates are. Salinas and Marina are about the furthest you would want to stay at. Craigslist is a good source for finding rooms or houses for rent. One other tip I have is to make friends with other car guys who live the area, you might get a free guest room next year!

I know times are a bit rough for some of us right now but that doesn't mean we have to stop enjoying automobiles. I encourage anyone to contribute with budget friendly advise or ideas to this thread.

Alex
