cheaaaaap

i wonder how much that would have reached 2 years ago..

as much as i love it, I still stick by saying thats reaaaaaaaally risky paying so much for a mk1 polo that doesnt seem to have any backing of how thorough the restoration was etc..

I'll let you know. Probably not as good as I can do it, but f*ck it, its only money, and sometime you have to take a risk. I plan to keep it stock for the time being, and give it a good going over to see what it needs. My rally beetle is now on the market. I'll miss it, but I already have another beetle that could be rallyed up. Cant keep em all.

This one is still available. Its just too far away from me to be worth viewing. But it might be close enough for you. Mileage is a lot lower as well. His price, in my view, is unrealistic, but the car has potential and he's been trying to sell it for a while. ;)

Update. Paddy has made it to Scotland. Last time, here, as I'll use the proper forum next time.
To meet my standards I reckon it needs a front and rear valance. They are very thin. I will pull off the front wings and clean up the inner wings and engine bay sides. Not sure about the quality of work on the rear arches, looks okay, but appearances can be deceptive. Really would like to strip off all the underseal to see the surface rust that will inevitably be there on the underside. May consider blasting the underside. Did I pay too much? Probably. But there are not many about and I'd be surprised if there is more than a couple in Scotland. I managed to get £100 off because the tail pipe fell off. I'll be needing some parts, but I'll post in the right place.

Shame it needs panels when you payed that price but I payed about £2200 for mine and it needs the same panels replaced. I dont care. How many do you see these days? :) We cant all fnd them in barns and get them for £100!

Hi fellow scotsman, then there was two :D
Just south of Edinburgh. The parts hunt commences. I'm not afraid of welding!!
Any advice on similarities between mk1 and mk2s would be helpful, as would source of parts. eg
I need a rear exhaust section, available? Would a mk2 part fit or can I modify it to fit. I'm good with a welder.
How similar is the later rear valance? If close enough I would modify.
See, loads of questions to find answers to.
