You don't need to have rear seatbelts for an MOT if they weren't fitted as standard which i dont think 78s had There are mounting points though.. you could fit lap belts, i think mk1 golf cab lap belts should fit, there are also mounts for 3point belts on the C pillar under the headlining... i dont know if mk2/3 belts will fit, but i should think so... |

I know I don't need them for the mot, but would like to fit some for safety reasons.
If I can't fit any car will have to go :-( |

I had a 79 gls that didnt have them... My 80 L has lap belts from standard, so I'd assume it was 1980

Thanks for that :-) got some hope!!! Vw should have fitted some mounting points
Found a place in America which can supply the upper mounting point, just need to work out how to fit them in the boot, and just to make it harder, I have a derby!!! |

what do you mean? .... as i mentioned above, there are mounting points on the C pillar under the headlining for 3 point belts. There should be mounting points for the belt reel somewhere in the boot as well, i mean there are loads of holes around the boot but i'm not sure which one is for a belt reel. There are also holes in the parcel shelf support on polos for the belt to go through, not sure what its like on a derb... I would ask steve/86C on here if i were you, im sure he will be able to direct you properly to what you need to do :) |

Sorry meant the real in the boot, thankfully Vic has confirmed they have all the mounting points in early derby's just not used. He's also offered pics but he doesn't have belts in his.
Luckily Gaz with an early mk2 is getting me some pics So thanks to those and all above, looks like an easy fix and I don't have to sell the kids!!! |
