Hi Everyone!
I just wanted to say hi and share my new 1977 Derby. I am the 4th owner of this car since it's been in the U.S. and here are a couple pics of the car as I bought it (Posted Image) (Posted Image) (Posted Image) 1.6L Polo conversion was done by the 1st U.S. owner (Posted Image) Here is a pic of how she sits right now (Posted Image) So far on my "to do" list I have - debating on whether to keep the flares and properly cut the arches or find replacements and lose the black arches - removing the fender mirrors - redo the interior - new wheels - repaint the car, but this will be last after I decide on what to do with the arches - rear disc brake conversion Let me know what you guys think :D -Chris |

Absolutely love it!!! :)
I think the JDM arches suit it massively but understand they're not to everyone's liking! :ph43r: Love the yellow/black theme too! Cheers, Chris. |

Hi and welcome!
Wow! that is awsome. B) I bet that turns some heads Same colour as my 77 polo. If it were mine id leave it as it is with the black arches on or alternatively weld in some mk1 golf arches. What plans you got for the interior? And keep us upto date with your plans. Cheers, andy. |

This cars got a lot of history in the UK mate.
Good to see it in good hands. I reckon it's pretty spot on as it was but everyone needs to do their own thing! Keep us up to date with the progress and welcome to the club! Edited to say "love those wheels!" |

Thanks for the kind words, guys!
I do like the black arches a lot but I will need to clean up the original cutting since it was done very poorly in my opinion. As for the interior, I'm not really sure yet. Maybe just redo the original so it's all brand new or something custom, do you guys have any pics or suggestions? The wheels pictured are 14" Rotiform IND's but I think I may be going with a 15" for Los Angeles city streets :P The engine Being new to cars of this era, do you guys know where I would source the following parts? - rear brake disc conversion? - new rubber for all of the glass? I figure it would be best to change them if I am going to respray the exterior I hope to have the car finished by March, thanks for all your help! -Chris |

Ah... Erik's old car B)
As for the rear disc conversion, use parts from a Mk.2 Golf GTi. Handbrake cables will need to be custom made to suit though or adapters made(on German ebay) |

Brilliant car, love the colour. Also the same as my Polo.
How difficult does it seem to have that 1.6 16v engine in there? Any cutting/bodging involved? Just looking for ideas on an upcoming engine conversion. Cheers, Miles |

86C, thanks for the brake info!
Miles, the engine swap was nicely done and I don't see any cutting that was required to make it fit. Also, do you guys know what flares are on this car below? They are wider than the originals (Posted Image) |

Cool, thanks. First like this i've seen.
The arches there look as if they're probably Mk1 Golf arches. Anyone in agreement? Thanks, Miles |
