Is anyone else unhappy with Dark Horses restart of Conan after issue #50? Apparently they plan to have a volume set to each phase of Conan's life....I would have preferred if they kept the numbering....

i saw these thick savage sword of conan volumes at the shop. i remember reading some old copies of the magazines, some really awesome adapted stories there. roy thomas is still a better writer than most writers today.

http://www.amazon.com/Savage-Sword-Conan-V...15363732&sr=8-1

i have almost the entire run of king conan, unfortunately they aren't in good condition now. i think it's the book where silvestri got his start.

Yep...55 issues.

Then there are Savage Tales...another Magazine that featured Conan along with other stories.

Conan is at the bottom of my to complete list since his stuff hardly ever goes up in value.

His stories are well written for the most part...it actually takes more than 5 minutes to finish a Conan issue unlike most other books today.

EXCLUSIVE: Today's the day for all things Conan to be resolved. First, there was Conan the late night host getting a whopping check to leave. Now, Conan the Barbarian has been crowned. I hear that Millennium Films, Lionsgate, and rights holder Paradox Entertainment have approved Jason Momoa to star in Conan, the rebirth of the Robert E. Howard-created series. The brawny star of Stargate Atlantis who also stars in HBO's Game of Thrones, Momoa got the nod over Kellan Lutz, the Twilight guy. I told you that the search for Conan had come down to the duo. Sources said that director Marcus Nispel was sold on Momoa, and won over the filmmakers by shooting a few trial scenes that allowed Momoa to wield a sword and behave very Schwarzenegger-like. This keeps the film on course for a March 15 production start in Bulgaria, and it closes a long ordeal in bringing the saga back to the screen. Paradox originally set up the film with Warner Bros in 2002, and then moved it over to Millenium in 2007.

No...he is perfect. You watch Stagate Atlantis? He has height and the athletic ability to pull it off...he has plenty of time to bulk up and add muscle...I think he will do just fine.

could have been a older pic...he was thinner hos first season on Atlantis...he had bulked up a bit come the final season by a few pounds...he should easily be able to cut up and add 5-10 pounds og muscle if that is what they want from the character...

do you guys like other Howard creations? Kull, Solomon Kane? the a few weeks ago i was reading a blog about Kane, and that was when i first heard about his upcoming movie, and one of the unfinished Howard fragments, Castle of the Devil. Apparently, not counting Howard's version, that story has been continued thrice by three different writers. One was a mini that has now been collected and is only five bucks on Amazon. that will probably make a good intro to Solomon Kane for me.

This was pretty good one shot being written and drawn by Darick Robertson. He got the look of Conan right and drew great battle scenes with plenty of blood and decapitations. The Sketch work in the back of the book was a nice bonus.Especially for me to see how other artist do their work.A worthy mention.

Groo vs. Conan!

Big news from the Emerald City Comicon (well, news to me)…while inquiring about the status of his Conan inspired Groo character, Sergio Aragonés had this to say:

“I’m doing a Groo crossover with Conan right now. Thomas Yeates is drawing Conan and I’m drawing Groo. It’s going to be a four-issue miniseries. I’ve finished issue #2, and it’s going to be a lot of fun. It’s going to be out probably by the San Diego ComiCon.”

So I head over to Yeates’ website and lo and behold, there’s some sample pages posted and they look grrrrreat! See for yourself...first go HERE, then click on the button that looks like this…
