Excellent short story Kai. I could just imagine the surprsied looks on thier faces when Cerebro gave them the information on where a mutant was being detected. And thank you for the information on the astronauts.

(I'm only replying now because I've been busy with finals all week.)

Thank you, Dark and Sir Raven. It was a funny little idea I had. And if they HAD realized it wasn't an anomaly... that's a whole 'nother "What If..."

Reporter: "Dr. von Braun, as a mutant, what is your opinion of the actions of the Phoenix Five?"
Teresa: "I'm sorry, Curiosity is landing on Mars, you'll have to ask me later."

Good to see Dr Braun has her priorities right.

She does indeed. Teresa and her friends are eagerly celebrating the Curiosity rover's successful landing and the photos it's sending back, and the good Dr. von Braun definitely appreciates Flight Director Bobak Ferdowski's passion for unconventional hairstyles.

(And as everybody at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory knows, Phoenix was so four years ago, Curiosity is where it's at!)

Hey, how about that Red Bull Stratos jump from the upper atmosphere? (But, as those of you who remember the early ItC issue about the X-Prize will note, still far short of the 100 km/62 mile boundary of space, despite what some news reports were saying. "Edge of space" sells better than "extreme high altitude".)

Congratulations to Felix Baumgartner and his team for showing the world that superhuman feats are by no means restricted to comic books!

And if some of you were wondering why exactly the supersonic-withstanding meta-materials used in Teresa's new costume were developed... there's your answer.

Hey, everybody, I'm sorry about my absence from the Forum for so long, I've been busy with schoolwork, and I probably won't be able to come on again until after finals, but once holiday break rolls around, I promise I'll be back-- with a new comedic time-travel one-shot to post!

However, some of the references in the story are a bit obscure, so I'd like to know if I should include explanations within the text itself, in a debrief at the end, or some combination of those.

Make Mine Marvel Boards-Verse!

Speaking only for myself, explanations at the end would be fine.

Altough we missed you school always comes first. We all understand.

I was planning on making an "I'm not dead" post today anyway, because even though I haven't been able to come to this site, it's just been because my semester has been so busy, but I promise I haven't given up writing and you'll get the time-travel story soon.

But now it's a bit more of a literal "I'm not dead" post because of the explosions that happened a few miles from my university's campus today. I was never closer than a mile to where the explosions happened and I left that area 45 minutes before the blasts.

I was lucky in that the Mile 25 marker of the marathon is near campus, and I spent some time there cheering on the runners before ducking into the university bookstore to buy some ping-pong paddles I could clap together to make noise. I saw that they also had the paperback collection of the first 6 issues of the new Captain Marvel series, so I picked that up, too, and went back to cheering.

Around 2:15, I walked back to my dorm, had some lunch, and read the book. A little after I finished, my father called me to tell me that two explosions had occurred near the finish line.

Captain Marvel, where are you now? I thought.

So glad your safe. I hope you had no friends who were hurt. I don't want to sound trite but my thoughts are with you and all in Boston at such a terrible time.

Glad to hear you're okay kai. This is one of those things that makes it hit home even when I live so far away, knowing how close somebody I know was to it. Still can't quite believe it happened.
