|Such a shame that this show was not airing when Wet-Girl was part of the Tavern. We could've used an inquisitive mind to pick her brain and find out everything about her.|

Thank you, Thank you and welcome to the Miles_Warren chat show. Our first guest is a Tavern legend. I'm sure he is a guy who needs no introduction so give me a hand in welcoming......

Hey all! Thanks for having me, Miles. First one up, too. Scary stuff.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 11:45 AM|
|Ok so Ironhand, can you tell us a little something about yourself? Any hobbies etc?|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 11:46 AM|
lol make it good. I'm pretty sure the network has their finger over the "Cancelled" button already
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 11:47 AM|
|I'm a huge fan of comics, as you may have guessed. I lean more towards some Image stuff now (Walking Dead/SAGA/Manhattan Projects) though there's the odd few Marvel things I'm interested in. I write my own stuff (2 comics and another is in the planning stage) and also draw as and when I can. I love music, sci fi films. You name it, I'll like it (don't put that to the test, lol )|
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 11:49 AM|
Whoever it is---I know where you live
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 11:50 AM|
| Wait you write your own comics???!!?
Jeez well done IH. What are the comics about?
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 11:56 AM|
| Well, I try to They're all written by me as I've took a step back on the art-side of things.
The first one is a superhero/ninja thing related to Heroes Alliance over on drunkduck (though that website is currently down) and is going to be drawn by CDMalcolm, who is astounding.
The second is a comic called Thrones and Dominions, based in the real world(ish) with an ageless detective who investigates the paranormal. That's drawn by the amazing Danny Ryba and the page I've seen is amazing so far. That's going to be a really cool book.
The last is one I'm planning called Tower and is set in the far future. It ranges from a simple escape-from-death to a revolution to an escape plan, so it's a fun ride. No artist of yet, it's still in planning stages but is nearly ready for scripting.
I've tried ranging my projects so they're all hitting a different genre, that's something which is really fun. Hopefully I hit the right 'notes with each project, too.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:02 PM|
I was just about to say each story is totally different from the last. Are these all ongoing series or are some mini-series?
Where did you get your ideas from? Were you just sitting around your house oneday when inspiration suddenly hit? lol
So have these been published yet or are you still waiting for the art to come in before you can show anybody?
Sorry for all the questions lol
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 12:18 PM|
The Bujin (the ninja story which I totally forgot to name) is going to be around 12/13 issues for what could be the first story or for good. It's something where when we get to that end point whether we both as creators want to take it further or leave it. So there is an ending, but I can carry on from that end point if I want. The idea for this one stemmed straight out of the Heroes Alliance issue I wrote (I would show you all, but drunkduck is currently down) - I introduced a character there and immediately after leaving him to everyone else to play with, I decided I wanted to keep him for a bit longer. The story ideas came pretty quickly and I've sort of painted Japan as 'my corner' of the Heroes Alliance world, which is cool.
Thrones and Dominions focuses on one case per issue (occasionally maybe more) - and I've discussed with Danny Ryba that this can basically keep going for as long as we want. There is an end point, however, and I know how to get there and some of the beats along the way - but as every issue is different, I can do what I want. I think the second I begin to stop coming up with new, original ideas with the paranormal and start becoming stuck I'll take it to the end. But I've planned so many different stories that's a long way away yet. And I've only seen one black & white page so far - so the future's bright. This actually isn't my idea and comes from a guy called Jo Lipski ( http://abt-nihil.deviantart.com/ ) - he wrote a three page story a while back which I loved. I recently asked if I could take that idea and stem a series on it. Luckily, he said yes. He's given me a lot of freedom on it and is very supportive.
Tower is a finite story, but a long one. I want to make it the right pace so the main character's choices seem 'real' (even an unreal world) so it's another where I'll see along the way. I've got an idea that it might split into 3 key books, though. As for where this one came from, I have no idea, really. I'm pretty much writing what I've been seeing in my head. There's a few core ideas of people having a voice I wanted to write about but it's all just sort of a story I've seen and am showing you, which is fun.
I'd love for all to get published and would like them to be somewhere (most likely indy planet or part of the taverns own comic) but it's so early in production of all of them that it's not something we've looked into. I assume when the first issues are completed I'll talk to the artists about publishing and we'll go from there.
Sorry for such the long answer, I hope I haven't turned all the viewers away with that, lol (if I did, I wasn't joking when I said I knew where you lived )
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:23 PM|
| Don't worry about it IH. Long answers are always the best. I changed the channel while you were giving it but no worries (I'm joking of course lol).
So for those who might be interested in creating a comic, could you tell them what kind of work goes into creating a comic? Is it just a matter of writing a story and finding an artist or is there more to it?
Where do you meet artists who want to draw your comic?
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 12:31 PM|
Don't worry, I think I changed the channel while I was giving it, too
I usually find artists just through stuff I'm working on or the websites I'm on. It just so happens the two I am working with, when I emailed asking them what they were into I got ninjas (CDMalcolm) then dark/noir/paranormal things (Danny Ryba) so that was just by fate, really. But fun stuff, hopefully I keep them entertained.
A lot of work goes into it. I think getting to know the artist is the key - I always start by asking them what kind of stuff they like to draw. Then I'd base my comic around them (so maybe the idea wouldn't be there until this chat) - then you've got sketches and the writing part is either quick or hard - depending on what you're writing. The hard stuff pretty much falls to the artist, I must admit. They make it come alive - I just type away. But yeah, a lot of work has to go in. I think you should always have an idea of what's going to happen before it does - otherwise it starts becoming abit disjointed) But this all comes down to preference, someone else may (and probably will) hate my method - I just say go with the flow and enjoy it
And if you struggle finding an artist, kidnapping one always helps
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:35 PM|
| Well promise me you'll post us a link to your stories once they're up and running IH
You mentioned you like music and sci-fi films? What music are you listening to right now?
And what are your top 5 favourite films?
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 12:38 PM|
I actually discovered a song by Wye Oak called "Civilian" on The Walking Dead (series 2 somewhere) - and I really like that song. But I like loads of stuff, I lean towards the Oasis/Beatles area though. Those guys rock
Top 5 films is a toughy - just because there's so many I like. I honestly will sit and watch any film that is on, no matter how poor it is. I can't give you 5, but I'd say The Dark Knight's on there, as is The Avengers. Die Hard/Rocky/Alien - all the classics I love. Man, that's a tough one
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:39 PM|
| btw everybody here is a link for some of IH art
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:41 PM|
Those questions always throw people off. The Dark Knight is also in my top 5
Ok so why did you choose ironhand as a username?
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 12:42 PM|
There will be more on that thread soon, I promise! I aim to draw more sketches than I usually do so keep watching!
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 9 2013, 12:45 PM|
Those questions are mean, you find yourself forgetting all your best ones and just remember the worst
Ironhand was my first ever character I created way back when I was a kid. He was the name I gave to one of my old toys who found himself a little comic. Thinking about, I love heroes with something on their hands. There was Ironhand, then I wrote Gauntlet a while back, then Talon. Maybe I'll come back to that with The Glove or something
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:46 PM|
We look forward to it.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 9 2013, 12:50 PM|
| Well IH that was my final question. Thanks very much for the interview. I really appreciate it. This is normally when I open the questions up to our audience but I don't think we have one at the moment. lol
If anybody who is reading this interview later on and has a question for IH, feel free to post them here. I'm sure IH will be more than happy to answer them for you.
Thanks again IH. Great job.
Tomorrow we will be interviewing another great poster from the Tavern. Who is it? Well tune in tomorrow and find out

Thank you, thank you. Welcome to the MILES_WARREN CHAT SHOW woo. Our guest tonight is one of the most active posters on the forum. Give me a hand in welcoming the New Girl-loving.....
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 12:03 PM|
|hey, hey hey! It is true that I love New Girl! In fact I may be the Tavern's biggest fan of that show (embarassedly looks for something else to say so people don't judge him )|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:05 PM|
Oh there's no escaping from talking about New Girl. It will crop up at some stage in the interview lol
But first, for those who don't know you, can you tell us a little something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 12:09 PM|
| Yes, I can do that. I'm somewhere in my mid-20s, I've been reading comics since I was 12, but I've been into superheroes since I was 5. Growing up, I watched the X-Men cartoon and the Batman cartoon. Somewhat less, I also watched Spider-Man and Superman. I grew up with the Tim Burton Batman movies, the Adam West Batman movie and all of that together basically permanently set me on a path to be a fan of the superhero genre, even if it took til I was 12 to start buying the comic books.
These days, I'm mostly into X-Men books (I have almost 3 full shelves of various X-books, and I'm still on a mad quest to catch 'em all. I'm like Ash Ketchum if he never left his house). But I am willing to read other stuff. I like sci fi and fantasy, and mostly stuff that can't "really" happen. But I also am very critical of storytelling and the like. I use what I like to think is my critical mind in making youtube videos where I discuss comic books and movies and tv shows and the like...
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:13 PM|
| Ah yes you're Youtube channel. For those that don't know comix has his own channel on youtube where he reviews books, movies and other stuff. Here's a link:
What made you decide to post reviews on youtube? Some people make blogs, create websites etc but you decided to go to youtube.
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 12:17 PM|
Well, I had been doing written reviews here since 2007, I guess. I wasn't very good when I first started, lol (seriously, I was awful. Go take a look at my earliest reviews, and you'll probably vomit in your mouth a little). But I like to think that I got better over time.
And over time, I got to a point where it didn't seem anyone read my reviews. Part of it might've been that the Tavern had gone into a slowdown where fewer people posted, but I was looking for a way to get my reviews and opinions to a wider audience. And I had been following this youtube channel on youtube since 2010, and they did reviews and stuff, and they had a few thousand subscribers. While I don't think I'll get that many subscribers, I suspected there was at least more of an audience on youtube than there was here, even if I was starting from scratch.
And so I began making youtube videos about a year ago. Now I have 93 subscribers, and I am pretty happy with that. I will probably get more, but if I stopped getting more right here, I'd still be happy having almost 100.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:23 PM|
| Wow 93 subscribers? Congratulations comix. Well deserved. Hopefully you'll get a load more soon enough.
So, when you are reviewing a show or comic book, what are you most critical when it comes to storytelling?
And, as a follow-up, what do you give the most praise to? Do you have any preferences?
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:25 PM|
| Here is some of comixkid's first attempts at reviewing. They are located right here at the Tavern
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 12:27 PM|
| Most critical, I guess it depends on the story. I've been very critical of stories where the characters are unlikable for me, or where the characters don't seem to be going through any kind of meaningful character arc or change over the course of a story or series of stories. I used to be critical of stories that copy the plot of a previous story. And sometimes I still am. But I recognize now that just about every story owes something in it to a previous story. So I can't be TOO critical there.
Most praise given...hurm. That's harder, because I've noticed I'm much more on the negative side than the positive side. I get excited about things, but it's so much easier for me to complain about something than to say "this is why it's good." The few times I've pretty much given a completely positive review, the review has been shorter. But I feel like if the characters have gone through a satisfying arc of some kind, then I'll be happy.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:32 PM|
| lol I suppose that is always the way. Giving praise is something that is much harder to earn.
Ok so last question about your youtube channel comix before we move on. For those reading this interview, and wondering why they should watch your reviews instead of somebody else's, here is your chance to get more subscribers.
Can you tell us what sets you apart from other reviewers on youtube?
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 12:36 PM|
Okay, well, here goes, lol. For quite a while, I've felt like I'm pretty good at looking at things objectively. Not just stories, but news and stuff like that. So if someone anounces that Ben Affleck is going to play Batman, some people might freak out, but I like to try and look at the pros and cons of it. I do know of some other youtubers who do this as well, so maybe I'm not fully answering what sets me apart from others...
But I would say, I like to try to be honest about what I'm reviewing. If it's bad, I won't pull my punches. But I try to be objective about it. You won't see me screaming about the suckitude and how the writer should never put pen to paper again.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:41 PM|
That is a brilliant answer comix.
Ok, moving on to New Girl now It seems you are trying to convert everybody to this show (including your very own parents ) but you have had limited success. For those that don't know what New Girl is, here is a clip of some of their funniest scenes:
What is it you ike about this show? And have you converted many people yet? lol
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 12:47 PM|
| Well, it seems my mom is fully a fan. And my dad will at least sit down and watch it, lol. So yeah, "limited" success is right.
I'll lay my cards out right now. I don't watch much tv, to be honest. I usually don't watch new shows at all. If I watch anything, I'm usually watching a show that ended already so I can see the whole thing in its entirity and I don't have to wait for new episodes.
But right now, I'm watching 3 shows. Sherlock, returning in January (to the UK, anyway. I don't know when it'll be out on DVD, which is when I'll be watching it), the Legend of Korra, and New Girl. So when I've said in the past that New Girl is my favorite sitcom, you may now notice that is partly because I don't watch any other sitcoms
But on a more serious note, I saw the advertisement for the show on Netflix, and about a week before that, I had seen an ad for the show on TV. So when I saw it on Netflix, it was just a whim, but I checked it out, and I wound up really liking it. The dialogue and most of the situations were really hilarious, I thought. I mentioned this on my channel, but it reminds me of what I wanted the old sitcom Three's Company to be. I remember wanting to see Jack and Janet get together on Three's Company, and then that never happened. And New Girl seems to be working on a similar premise. One girl, 3 guys (instead of 1 guy, 2 girls). And they actually are working on building a romantic relationship between two of the main characters. But I guess the real question is, will they last as a couple, or will this show go on another 5 years, and the people behind the show will need to find something to start some more drama, and break them up. I hope they do last, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I should also say, almost all of my attempts to convert people to this show are geared toward the first 2 seasons. I haven't been absolutely loving Season 3, but it's early yet, and as of the latest episode, it's POSSIBLE that the show will be going in a direction that I will love. But if anyone sees Season 3 and then builds an effigy of me because I told you to watch the show, just remember that, at least in my humble, the first season is better, and Season 2 is still pretty funny, but not as funny as Season 1.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 12:55 PM|
| I forgot you like to marathon though series comix. What season was that episode that I saw, do you know? It was the Hallowe'en episode I think.
Anyway, you were a member of the Marvel forums for a long while where you were also known as comickid (and later ladiesman ). You were even a mod on the site. Yet you asked to be demoted from a mod and left the Marvel forums for the Tavern. What was it that made you decide to make that move? Did you no longer care for the Marel forums?
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 01:02 PM|
| The halloween episode was somewhere within the first 5 or 6 episodes of Season 2.
Well, I started posting on the Marvel Boards I think the weekend that they went up. Back then, I was comixkid2099. I was one of the first 5 people to become a Massive Cosmic Entity (back then, it felt like a bigger deal than it does now, lol). And eventually, I'm not really sure when, I was asked to become a mod. Then a glitch erased my account, as well as several other accounts. That's when I became Ladiesman89 (based on the Transformers movie, which, if I'm being honest, I didn't even like that movie, but that one part of the movie I thought was funny).
Anyhow, losing my original several thousand posts was definitely a factor. It may sound silly (in fact, it does sound silly to me now) but those posts represented a history for me, and as I continued to post, I realized that nobody knew who I was (and that was my fault, as I had chosen a new name). This, and the fact that many of the people I was good friends with, they didn't post there anymore. I felt like that one guy who is hanging out at the skating rink and all the people I used to hang out with have gone to the bar to hang out, and I'm the 22 year old in a skating rink full of 15 year olds...or something like that, lol.
So even though I was still a mod for a while, at some point I realized that most of my friends from the boards weren't as active any more, so I stepped down, but still posted once in a blue moon. But with my responsibilities as a Mod lifted off my shoulders, I realized I had even less of a reason to post over there.
So rewind back to the glitch of 2007 where my account was lost. During those 2 months where the Marvel Boards were inaccessible, I wandered over to this site, where I met people who I became very close with. And I'm still friends with them, either here, or on Facebook. And so even though some of those people don't post here anymore, new people do, and I feel like I am growing closer to them so I don't feel like the weird old man hanging out in the place he used to hang out at when he was a kid anymore.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 01:05 PM|
| Fair enough.
One final question before I hand it over to the audience, why did you choose comixkid2099 as your username?
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 01:10 PM|
|Ah, this one is fairly easy. Some time early on in my comic book reading career, maybe less than a year in, I discovered the 2099 imprint from Marvel. By this point, the imprint was about 4 or 5 years dead, but I loved every bit of it I could get my hands on. I found almost complete runs of Punisher 2099 and Ravage 2099, and I loved what I was finding. I also found scattered issues of all the other 2099 comics out there. As for the rest, I mispelled comix with an "x" because I was a fan of X-Men, and still am. And so I thought it would be "cool" to spell it like the X-Men might (X-Treme X-Men was a big thing at this time). And I was 12 or 13 when I came up with the name, so I guess I was just leaving the "kid" days of my life behind, but you could say I have a child like joviality still (tempered by my old man crotchetyness). So the name still fits, lol.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 01:14 PM|
| LOL well thanks for the interview comix. You did great. If anybody has a question they would like to ask comix themselves just post them here.
Join us tomorrow when we will be interviewing another Tavern poster. Bye
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 01:19 PM|
| Thanks for having me, Miles!
Before I head off, if you don't mind, I'd also like to push one other thing I do in addition to my youtube reviews...
I do my own Webcomic, called Chronicles of the Broken Sword. Right now, it updates twice a week (on Mondays and Fridays), and so you get 2 full pages each week. It is a comedy/fantasy adventure series with a somewhat sprawling cast and long running plots that I like to juggle in my mind (which feels an awful lot like juggling fire, at times)
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 03:28 PM|
Oh wow if I had've known about this I would've asked a few questions about it. So you write and draw your own comics? How much of a commitment does that take if you update twice a week?
It seems with your webcomic and youtube reviews (plus your forum commitments lol) you're a very busy guy. Well done.
You mention that it is a sci-fi fantasy series? Could you tell us a little something about the plot and main characters?
Sorry for bombarding you with questions lol
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 11 2013, 03:54 PM|
| Well, I don't have a job of any kind (but I'm on the prowl) so that's what takes up my day. Drawing and doing videos.
As for how much time, It depends. I am currently very ahead on pages I have drawn vs pages that have been uploaded, but I can usually do a page in the span of an hour or an hour and a half. That includes drawing it and inking it. I have these great erasers that I can use to get rid of stray pencil marks immediately after I ink the page, so that saves me loads of time.
I also will script out the next 4 or 5 pages on a word doc, and then when I want to listen to a lengthy podcast or something that I can keep my mind busy with, I don't have to "think" too much when I'm doing the page.
As for the plot and main characters, it's a straight up fantasy. Not very much sci fi at all. But my goal is for it to be "funny." When I first started, I wanted it to be like Garfield or Dilbert or something like that (hence the 3 panel layout that I almost always go with) but I wanted more continuity and a story that does progress from strip to strip. I didn't know these words when I first started, but there's apparently 2 kinds of webcomics. A "continuity strip" and a "gag strip." The Gag strips are something along the lines of the Far Side, I guess, while a continuity strip follows a story. My goal with Chronicles is to try and integrate those. So hopefully, if I'm doing it right, each strip or each page has a "punchline" while there is a larger story at work.
The characters are as follows: Hugo Hudson is the Master Mage of this world that resembles a Sword and Sorcery story. He is from a world that is similar to our own world. So he wears t-shirts and sunglasses in a world that kinda sorta looks like our world from the 500s AD. His brand of being the Master Mage is much different than any of his predecessors. His apprentice, Marcella, is doing what she does for a college credit. But my mission is to make these two slowly learn to trust each other more and more as the series goes on.
And then the rest of the characters fall more into the "antagonist" roles. Lilim is a war-lord who came into power around the same time as Hugo came to this world. She wants to unite all of the warring tribes, villages and city states under her rule. But she's not really "evil" because she does believe this will eliminate all of the war and such that plagues this world.
There are some other characters, like Squidula, the Mage of New York and Lilim's spy master Ferarro, but I've already covered the main characters.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 11 2013, 04:15 PM|
|Sounds really good comix. I'll give the series a read tomorrow. Anybody have another question for comix?|

Thank you, thank you. My guest tonight is a poster who disappeared from the forums for a long time....but he is back now and hopefully for good. He is a good friend of mine going back from the Marvel forums and later the Spider Man Crawl Space. Give me a hand in introducing......BDOG!!!!!!
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 04:05 PM|
Hey how's everybody doing!
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:09 PM|
|Ok so bdog, welcome to the show. For those that don't know you, can you tell us a little about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?|
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 04:15 PM|
Where do I begin, I'm a sophomore in University I'm also a canuck. I first met these guys years ago when the Marvel forums first opened up where I was something of a regular. When I left there, mostly due to most of my friends leaving I started my own website (The Comic Book Boards) which I shut down about two years ago. Since then I've been playing sports, mostly basketball, got a knee surgery and doing sports writing (which I plan to pursue as my future career path).
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:18 PM|
| Ah yes I forgot you were everybody's fave Canadian (that's right Wolverine! I said it lol).
So, can I ask what you are studying in college bdog?
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 04:22 PM|
I'm doing a double major in both Communications and Economics, while minoring in sports studies.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:26 PM|
Cool. It seems Communications & Ecominoics and sports studies are two completely different topics. What do you hope to do in the future? Would you rather focus on the sports or the ecomonics?
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 04:27 PM|
Econ is my back up plan, but communications and sports studies will hopefully come together as I plan to pursue a career in broadcast journalism (specifically sports journalism)
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:32 PM|
| Y'know I just realised you said that in your original post (d'oh). I'm new at this LOL
Now you mention that you created your own website called Comic Book Boards. What was the website about and why did you close it down?
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 04:34 PM|
The name speaks for itself haha it was a comic book message board. I shut it down, because my staff and I were relatively young a growing up, we just didn't have time for it anymore and I didn't want to run a site with a failing community so I looked at it realized we had an amazing run and put it out to pasture.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:37 PM|
I am not sure but was this the site you asked me to contribute to about six years ago? I seem to recall doing reviews (crap reviews btw lol) of the Irredeemable Ant-Man by Robert Kirkman. It was definately website made by you.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:47 PM|
| Ok so you mentioned that you left the Marvel forums because a lot of your friends had left as well. And then you created your own website (comicbookboards) but it seems that every forum I joined you were a member of as well. The Spider-Man crawl space and Mickey's Tavern.
I promise I am not cyber stalking you LOL Weere there any other forums you joined as well and which one would you post on the most?
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 04:54 PM|
It was the one you contributed too haha.
I was part of a few comic message boards, mostly posting here, at mine, the crawl space, Marvel and CBR. Now I frequent CBR, and the comic book subreddit. I still check out the Crawl Space home page, but less so the forum.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 04:56 PM|
And a question I absolutely have to ask. Will you frequent the Tavern more often as well?
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 05:01 PM|
Depends on my schoolwork, but yeah it's been nice re-connecting with you guys. I'll definitely come by more.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 05:03 PM|
|Well that is understandable bdog. :) You mention you play basketball. Is this with your college sports team or something with friends?|
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 05:06 PM|
Hopefully college next year, tore an acl and its been holding me out since.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 05:09 PM|
|Oh no! You did say you have had knee surgery. How did you manage to hurt your cruciate ligament? And how long do you expect to be out for before you can play basketball again?|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 12 2013, 05:39 PM|
| Hmm it seems like bdog has logged off. In that case I will end our interview and allow our audience to get their chance to ask questions. So if anybody has a question for bdog post them here :)
In the meantime, thanks very much to bdog for the interview. Great talking to you again buddy
|Posted by: bdog Oct 12 2013, 06:32 PM|
Sorry about that dude, something came up. I tore my ACL playing football and got surgery on August 6th I should be 100% by Spring. Yes if anybody wants to ask me questions, I welcome them I'm pretty interesting
|Posted by: rcbigal Oct 12 2013, 06:53 PM|
Welcome back to the TAVERN!
|Posted by: kacangpool Oct 12 2013, 09:47 PM|
i miss bdog too it's been so long.
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 13 2013, 01:58 AM|
|Nice two interviews there Miles! Nice to see bdog back on the tavern, too.|
|Posted by: rcbigal Oct 13 2013, 10:25 AM|
|Posted by: Feral Female Oct 19 2013, 03:29 AM|
|Great bunch of interviews! I`ll have to check in more often. =)|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 06:58 AM|
I've been a bit lax the last couple of days with interviews but I am hoping to start again this weekend. I've interviewed a couple of tavern veterans but now I want to start interviewing some of the tavern newbies. I'll start again tonight.....hopefully lol

Thank you thank you. Welome to the Miles_Warren chat show. Tonight's guest is one of the Tavern's newest posters yet she has instantly become an instant hit with the regulars. I am of course talking about......
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 12:45 PM|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 12:47 PM|
|Welcome Magneta. Glad we can FINALLY do this interview lol ok so first question. Can you tell us a little something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?|
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 12:50 PM|
Well, I enjoy listening to music (there's quite a bit of 90's artists I like but I also like some more recent ones too as well as some 80's artists). I like reading comics. I first started reading comics after watching the 'Catwoman' film with Halle Berry in it and it got me into DC comics. Then I remembered her being on the X-Men films so I watched them so now I like both Marvel and DC lol. Of course, I also do some fan-fic writing too.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 12:53 PM|
| For those who don't know, Magneta is a frequent poster in the fan fic section of the forums. You can read her stories http://http://z3.invisionfree.com/Mickeys_Comic_Tavern/index.php?showforum=283.
For those who have never read your stories, can you tell everybody what your stories are about?
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 12:58 PM|
Both 'Magneta's Stories' and 'Lady Guinevere's Stories' feature two different ladies married to two of my favourite Marvel baddies; Magneto and Loki! Lady Guinevere is Magneta and Vulcan's daughter (Vulcan as in crazy X-Man Vulcan) and the twin sister of Merlin Summers. She has the same powers as Vulcan but with the phoenix in. Magneta is Wolverine's daughter. They might have a on and off relationship but Magneta actually admires her father a lot.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 01:01 PM|
|I take it you are a fan of the X-Universe then. lol Where do you get your ideas for your stories? Is there anything that influences your writing style or story ideas?|
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 01:25 PM|
| Sorry for the gap there; I think I got a bit carried away with fan fic writing
I usually get my ideas from watching the films or reading the comics so when you read my stories, you get the occasional (hopefully) references in them.
Oh, I forgot to mention Magneta's powers before, sorry about that. Well, she has the same abilities as Magneto but more powerful (Mister Sinister at one point said to Magneta that she makes even Magneto look like a amateur. Ouch). She also has animal senses (no-doubt inherited from Wolverine) and cat-like ears and tail from when she got bitten by a cat years ago. She also has a healing ability and a metal skeleton both installed upon her by Mr Sinister himself.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 01:28 PM|
|So Magneta I am assuming you got your username after the character you invented. What made you decide on Magneta as a name for your character? Was it her relationship to Magneto?|
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 01:41 PM|
|Yes it was her relationship with Magneto but it was also because I liked the 'Magneto Testament' some years back that. My original username on Marvel.com was Storm&WolvieFan but I ended up changing it to that because I couldn't receive PM's from people but I could send PM's to other people so some kind mod changed it for me when they asked me if I'd like it changed. So I've been Magneta since.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 01:50 PM|
OMG you are Storm&WolvieFan???!!?? I always wondered what happened to you
So, as everybody who knows you, knows that you recently made the jump from marvel.com to the Tavern. What made you decide to post in the Tavern and not somewhere else?
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 01:56 PM|
|A lot of posters I was familiar with are on here (hi Feral!) so I thought I'd come along too. There was also the fan-fic section in which we can write without having to edit our stories to make them all age friendly, especially since I'm trying to at least put in a bit of Tom Hiddleston's Loki from 'Avengers Assemble' on Lady Guinevere's Stories|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 02:00 PM|
Yeah the Marvel forums were very restrictive that way. I have read your stories and they are very well written.
You mentioned that you are a fan of 80's and 90's music. If you had a choice which decade would you choose as the best decade for music?
Who is your fave artist?
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 02:06 PM|
| Thanks for the commt on my fan fics :-)
The 90's of course! Loads of happy fun pop music back then. My favourite artist? Sarah Brightman is my favourite. She's a bit like Tarja from Nightwish for those that are wondering. For the older members, you may remember Sarah back in the 70's with 'I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper' that she did with Hot Gossip. Or for the 80's, 'The Phantom of the Opera' in which she sung with Steve Harley.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 02:09 PM|
| Is Sarah Brightman the same woman who did a duet with Andrea Bocelli in "Time to say goodbye"
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 02:32 PM|
| Ok well Magneta I have one last question for you before I hand it over to the audience for their questions:
Can you name your top 5 favourite songs of all time?
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 02:36 PM|
| Yeah that's the lady although that's never been my favourite of hers.
Top favourite songs? Kinda hard that lol.
Sorry I'm a bit late in my replies; I'm having loading issues here with the internet .
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 19 2013, 02:44 PM|
That's ok. I know you've been having problems with your internet lately.
Ok so that's it. Thanks very much for the interview Magneta. If any audience members have a question for Magneta then feel free to ask. As Magneta is a new poster to the forums I'm sure people have plenty of questions for her
Thanks again Magneta
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 19 2013, 02:52 PM|
|You're welcome! That and oh yeah, trying to watch the Avengers at the same time LOL! Go Loki Go!|
|Posted by: rcbigal Oct 19 2013, 07:23 PM|
Did you have any trouble with DW at the Marvel forms?
thanks, and so glad your here at the TAVERN!
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 20 2013, 01:40 AM|
I had no trouble with DW over on Marvel. Whenever I've had problems he has been very helpful. My last problem I had was that I couldn't sign into my account on Marvel because it kept saying that my username and password was incorrect when they were right so an hour later- when I eventually was able to sign in- I PM'ed him asking what the problem was and he said it was a glitch and DW said that the same thing happens to him. That was at the beginning of the year I think it was.
|Posted by: rcbigal Oct 20 2013, 10:45 PM|
| Welcome to the TAVERN !
(thanks for the answer)
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 21 2013, 09:07 AM|
|great interviewing, guys! Keep up the good work!|
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 21 2013, 09:53 AM|
Having said that, I think the only time I did have a problem with DW was when he wrote that veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery negative review on 'X-Men: First Class' but since I believe in the whole "different people have different views on films and things" matter I decided to let it pass.
|Posted by: ironhand Oct 21 2013, 11:42 AM|
|Another nice review, Miles! Keep it up!|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 21 2013, 01:15 PM|
|Thanks guys. I'm not sure when the next interview will be. I'm a bit busy at the moment. In the meantime just ask Magneta more questions lol|
|Posted by: Big Thunder! Oct 21 2013, 03:43 PM|
| Okay, I'll ask a question.
Magneta, of all your experiences over at Marvel.com, what would you rank as your favorite and as your worst?
(Miles, if you want, you can interview me. Answers might not come quickly, but at least I'm not struggling with the slow internet I suffered through over the last weekend).
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 21 2013, 03:48 PM|
Hi Thunder, I know I had you booked in over the weekend but I couldn't make it. I'm off to bed in a moment but I can do any other day. Just mention it and I'll be there.
btw thanks guys for all the questions for Magneta. Glad to see audience participation is happening now
|Posted by: Magneta Oct 22 2013, 03:05 AM|
I really enjoyed the fan-fic team up Feral and I did a few years ago just before the "all ages friendly" stuff had to come in. Worst moment? Probably that ridiculous sign in glitch . That is one glitch I'll never miss...

Thank you thank you and welcome to the Miles_Warren chat show. My guest tonight is a tavern regular who has been posting here for years. You all know him so give me a hand in welcoming ETERNAL NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!!!!
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 01:52 PM|
|Posted by: rcbigal Oct 25 2013, 01:53 PM|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 01:53 PM|
| Ok so let's begin the same way we always begin EN...
can you tell us a litte something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 01:56 PM|
| I was born in Germany and I enjoy writing, playing the SoulCalibur video game series, viewing DVDs (Hell's Kitchen, Ben 10, etc.), drawing, etc.
Sometimes I write original stories and sometimes fan fiction (Ben Ten now).
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 01:59 PM|
Wow so you're a Ben 10 fan. What is it about the show that you find so appealing?
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:05 PM|
| I like the idea of a character able to transform into different beings. In Ben Ten's case, a boy turning into different aliens. The humor is delightful and Dr. Animo is my favorite character.
I like Dr. Animo because he is interesting. He's older, but acts like a two-year-old
sometimes. Examples - In Washington B.C., he kept shrieking about his award and screamed ''NO! NO!'' in a high pitched tone when
the dinosaur fell apart. In Omniverse, he taunts Ben back childishly and has stuffed animals.
I also like the fact that Dr. Animo doesn't seem to mistreat his creations. He calls them his pets or children.
He seems to really like frogs and bats since he uses them the most. I know he ripped his stuffed animals to shreds for ''criticizing''
him in Omniverse, but he usually puts them back together again.
I do have a bit in common with Dr. Animo since we both don't like to be bothered, we can be creative, we desire recognition, etc.
Dr. Animo's original and Omniverse appearances are interesting. Long hair, goggles for the most part, wearing a colander on his head,
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:08 PM|
| So I take it that is Dr. Animo pictured in your avartar and sig? Is he a good guy or a bad guy?
Sorry but I never seen the show. But next time it is on I may give it a watch and see this Dr. Animo guy lol
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:12 PM|
| Dr. Animo is a villain. He originally researched in vet science, but mutated animals to make them bigger and stronger. That was when he lost the award to another researcher and became a villain.
I tend to like villains the most such as Spiral, Dark Phoenix, Major Domo, etc. (X-Men) or Kunzite (Sailor Moon).
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:15 PM|
| So I am assuming you seen all the Ben 10 series then. There was the original one called Ben10 which lasted from 2005-2008 but there have been other series such as Ben10: Alien Force, Ben10: Ultimate Alien and Ben10: Omniverse.
Which of these series would be your favourite? Or is there a difference in their quality? Have you played the games or seen any of the Ben10 movies?
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:20 PM|
| I saw every Ben Ten, but not all of the movies. The original Ben Ten and Omniverse are my favorite B10s. I'm not enthusiastic about Alien Force and Ultimate Alien is OK. I never played the games.
Dr. Animo in the series (I don't have D'Void pictures)
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:23 PM|
| He definately looks cooler in Ominverse than the other series
You mentioned you like to write stories. For those that are interested you can read EN's stories here:
Can you tell posters what your stories are about?
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:25 PM|
|Tragedies are my bread and butter. For original stories, I mostly write about my mobsters. For fan fiction, Dr. Animo is the main character in Ben Ten or Major Domo is the main character in X-Men. Sometimes Spiral is a main character in X-Men.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:30 PM|
| I noticed in your sig you won "Tavern's best writer" so you are obviously a great writer. Quite an acheivement considering we have a forum of great writers.
You also like to draw. Here is a link to EN's artwork
How long have you been drawing?
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:35 PM|
|I don't remember how long I was drawing for. I'm not that great at drawing since I'm weak with hands, feet, shoulders, etc. I also can't illustrate side faces very well.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:40 PM|
Well practice makes perfect EN. Hopefully you'll continue to show us your artwork. I saw you like to watch Hell's Kitchen? I love that show myself. Do you buy the series on dvd or just watch it on television?
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:43 PM|
|Both. I only own Hell's Kitchen seasons 5 and 8 on DVD. I pre-ordered Season 10 in August, but I'm still waiting for the DVD set to arrive.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:45 PM|
|Wow I like the show but obviously you love the show? Do you plan on being a chef one day or do you just like the drama?|
|Posted by: Eternal Nightmare Oct 25 2013, 02:51 PM|
|I actually can't cook very well, but the drama appeals to me. My favorite competitors are Danny, Lacey, and Andrea (Season 5) with Sabrina (Season 8.)|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 25 2013, 02:54 PM|
| Ok well that's all the questions I have for you EN. Thanks very much for the interview. You did a great job
But the show isn't over. If there are any audience members that have a question for EN then feel free to ask.
Thanks again EN

I'm interviewing again tomorrow. My guest is a surprise. Let's just say she is a fan of the the mighty asgardians

Thank you thank you and welcome to the Miles_Warren chat show. Our guest tonight is another tavern regular and everybody's favourite Asgardian. Give me a hand in welcoming LADY_SIF!!!!!!
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 02:22 PM|
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 02:24 PM|
Damn, there goes my disguise lol.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 02:26 PM|
|Thanks for joining us Sif. Ok to begin with can you tell us something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?|
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 02:26 PM|
Heya! Tis good to be here
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 02:29 PM|
Where to start? There is just so much... But to name 3 I'd say pointing at clouds, staring at bread and collecting dog poo. No wait, that was not my list. Seriously, it's comic books, drawing and probably listening to music.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 02:31 PM|
| OMG I stare at bread too.
So what comics do you collect? I'm assuming Thor is one
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 27 2013, 02:32 PM|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 02:37 PM|
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 02:39 PM|
I wonder what gave you a hint about that. The avatar, the name or the signature?
Yeah, he became my favorite hero after I got into the comics some years ago. Before that I loved Spider-Man in my childhood. Thor didn't have any good cartoon since the 60's lol.
I also love most of the other Marvel characters. Besides Thor I like Deadpool (hint: other signature), The Avengers, Captain America. Another non-Marvel comics I like is Walking Dead. I started reading TWD after I saw the TV-show tbh.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 02:42 PM|
|So what is it that you find so appealing about the Asgardians....and Loki in particular?|
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 02:57 PM|
Now you ran into my trap. I'm a Team Thor fan thru an thru. I like Loki as an antagonist, but my favorit Asgardian is Thor of course. I'm reading the comic books for a little more than 10 years now... The movies just came out and they are capturing everything quite well. Though there are a few differences as always. But I have to say Tom makes Loki more lovable than he ever was in the comics.
So, to answer your question why I like Thor ( ) in particular is that he is a mighty powerful beeing with no need to protect earth or no need to do anything exept his job in Asgard. So why does he even care for us "ants" at all? What makes him different? Since the other fellow Asgardians do not even share his passion for Midgard at all. I think I like the way he looks at us and how he thinks we are meant for great things. The fate he has in mankind. Even if his father told him a zillion times to not interfer with mortal things, he still does. He fights for us, dies for us and loves us. The other thing I like about him is that he is sorta oldfashioned. He is a few thousand years old. He knows how to treat a lady and give hand kisses. Someone in another forum called him a gentleman warrior and I kinda like that describtion. (yeah, I know. What can I say? I am a fangirl. Romantic stuff blah blah blah.) lol.
Spider-Man is teaching us: with great power comes great responsibily. Thor is teaching us: Before great power there has to be great responsibilty. So, what makes one worthy?
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 03:03 PM|
| Wow great answer Sif
While I was waiting for your answer I decided to creep through some of your artwork. For posters who are interested you can see Sif's artwork here
Bloody hell. You are good. Real good. Probably the best I've seen on the forums so far. Where did you learn to do art that good? Did you train yourself or did you go to school to learn?
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 03:12 PM|
Yeah, as much as it sounds like I have been preparing myself with a script it just took this long to write what I had in mind. There are many things I love about the character, but I wanted to make it as short as possible and bring it to the point. (Other posters who know me already, also know that if it comes to Thor I can write quite a lot. They don't call me the anti-paragrapher for nothin' lol)
Ok, to my drawing... When my father Odin banished me from Asgard I had to train myself in something until I can go back. No wait, I am doing it again. Mixing things up. Okok, here I go. Thanks for the compliment. I didn't learn it from a pro artist. I wish I could have had that opportunity, but unfortunately there is no such school etc where I live. I had to practise and teach myself. Some of the drawings I posted are from the early days when I used original pro artist art as a reference. Cause like I said I just lately started with the comic books.
About 10 years ago I was not able to draw a superhero on my own without using another ones art. Cause even if I was able to draw real persons or characters, superheroes seemed to have different styles than those. I am glad some progress was made since then. And as I keep saying, an artist never stops learning or practising. It's just like an endless circle. But each progress made is worth keeping it up.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 03:17 PM|
| And you do your own sculpting as well?
You create your own figures and figurines. Did you train yourself to do that as well? If so, how did you learn to do something like that?
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 03:26 PM|
I have read that some of the classic comic artists did modelling before. I guess those two things are close.
Once I had a piece of clay and didn't know what to do with it. Then I watched an episode of Outer Limits. It was about someone modelling with clay and I randomly started doing that myself while I watched the episode. It was a coincidence. Or a sign? (Odin hello, did that belong to a plan o' yours?) It turned out not as bad as I thought it would and I continued shaping that thing. In the end it became a Thor bust from mythology. But compared to the other stuff it seemed so badly done that I didn't post it here. From that on I tried to get better and those figures are the results.
I think I am overall creative. Working on some Deadpool chucks. I also made Deadpool ear danglers and a bracelet just last week. Whenever I felt that there was something I wanted and it was not existing yet, I tried to do it myself. That was before the market was flooded with Thor merchandise. Years ago, there was just very very very few stuff out. Nothing compared to now! Fans had to be creative and do custom action figures or statues by themselfs.

| Well whatever you create make sure you post on these forums. Your work is spectacular
You mentioned you listen to music? What music would you be into the most? Any fave bands or artists you can mention?
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 03:38 PM|
Thanks, you make me blush.
I am listening to Metal. Mostly viking and pagan metal. So, I can listen to viking battles when reading about viking battles. In. SPACE! lol
I think most of you guys won't have heard of any of these bands but I am gonna post them anyways.
My favorite band is probably the swedish viking death metal band Amon Amarth. I also like lots of russian folk Metal, as Arkona. The russian pantheon and mythology is really fascinating. Some other bands are: Finntroll, Judas Priest, Ensiferum, Iron Maiden, AC DC, TYR, Blind Guardian, Eluveitie, Kreator and many many more. All great music for reading action comics lol. Some of the pagan bands such as Amon Amarth and Tyr have been mentioned in the letters section of the current Thor series even. It seems lots of fans are listening to that as well heh.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 03:42 PM|
| I just have one last question before I hand it over to the audience Sif. Can you name your top 5 favourite songs and by what band they are from?
You may get more people hooked to this pagan/viking music
|Posted by: Lady_Sif Oct 27 2013, 03:48 PM|
"more people", you say that as if there was just me and the other 3 fanboys sending letters to the Thor comic. No, seriously there are lots of people enjoying that kind of music already.
Ok, here we go (hard decission... there are just SO MANY to pick from. Those came randomly in mind though):
Amon Amarth "Twilight of the Thunder God"
Blind Guardian "Valhalla"
TYR "By the sword in my hand" or "Hail to the Hammer"
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 27 2013, 03:55 PM|
| Well thanks for the interview Sif. You were a great guest to have on the show. If anybody in the audience has a question for Sif then feel free to post and ask. Join us tomorrow when I will interview another Tavern poster.
Thanks again Sif

|No prob jax. So to start things off can you tell the posters on the tavern something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?|
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:00 PM|
No Medal needed, lol.
I'm just happy to have my posting buddies on board at The Tavern!
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:02 PM|
I'm an avid Hulk fan, and long time debate enthusiast.
I spend a lot of time on my PS3 (much to the chagrin of my wife, hee hee).
I love Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and B-Rated Horror Flicks.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:02 PM|
|And I've been a member of the SCA for about two decades now.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:03 PM|
What is the SCA?
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:06 PM|
| The SCA is an international organization dedicated to researching and re-creating the arts and skills of pre-17th-century Europe.
Basically it's a giant nation-wide "Renaissance Fair" that includes camping, drinking, jousting, and sword fighting.
Kinda like "Medieval Times" in California.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:07 PM|
|I'm part of a Norse Reenactment group. We are about 70 folks strong, and we go by the name "House Gremlin" (which had a bit of a hand in the choosing of my current Avatar).|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:09 PM|
Wow what made you interested in pre-17th-century Europe? This sounds like fun.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:09 PM|
| Here's the Wiki for my SCA Group:
(If you scroll down, I'm in the bottom of listed members)
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:11 PM|
It had a lot to do with timing and location, lol.
I moved up to Washington State when I was 17. The High School (Snohomish High) had a "Medieval Club" that was akin to a mini-SCA.
I jumped into that class to satisfy a P.E. credit, and was instantly hooked.
And the fact that Excalibur is one of my favorite movies didn't hurt...
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:12 PM|
So do you choose to be part of the Norse group or was it assigned to you? Can any member (new or old) be a member of this group or is there limited amount of people who can join?
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:17 PM|
| I chose to join the House that was Norse oriented, but that choice had a lot to do with the fact that many of my High School buddies were already there waiting for me, lol.
Anyone can join. There is no age limit; though folks tend to get a bit rowdy after 10pm (that's when the Mead starts to fill cups), so kids are usually sent to bed around that time.
Being a pat of a Norse Reenactment Group is also the reason Thor is my #2 favorite character.
I play all the time in that Pantheon of Mythology anyway.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:21 PM|
| It's also how I chose my User Name.
I have been an actual "Jester" in the SCA for quite a while now.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:22 PM|
|Ok so anybody who knows you jax knows that you are mainly found in the vs. forums debating with other posters. Why is it you enjoy debating with other posters about comic characters?|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:23 PM|
So where did the jax part of your username come from?
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:27 PM|
That also has roots in my High School (and College) Years.
I'm a big guy (I look like a Hell's Angel Biker in Jester Hat, lol); but I was never very good at sports.
In Snohomish; Speech and Debate Tournaments were as prominent as Football was... so I decided to give my "brain" a shot sports.
It turned out to be my saving grace. I excelled in Debate, won State, and was the first kid from my school to make it to Nationals. Granted we didn't debate comics (it was more "current event" debate topics)- but it instilled the "love for verbal competition" in me.
And I also loved the fact that I could come into the Debate Tourney looking like a Biker and completely dust competitors who were dressed in Three Piece Suits. Call it a guilty pleasure, lol.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:28 PM|
| Aside from that, my older brother helped raise me and he had a HUGE comic book collection.
So the combination of child-hood love for comics met up with the adult love for debate- and the rest is Marvel.com history, lol.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:31 PM|
That part is less dazzling... my first name is Jake and I wanted something that was easy to remember and close enough to recognize while drunk around a campfire.
...so I went with "Jax" in place of "Jake" for my SCA persona name.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:34 PM|
Wow you went to the nationals.
You mentioned you like Sci-Fi and horror movies? What would be your top 5 favourite films of all time?
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:34 PM|
| And I suppose I should add, regarding my love for comic book debate, that there is another factor that I love about it-
When we have a good debate on the vs. forums... it's almost like getting to write a comic book story via competing posts.
When the smoke clears... you have the bones of a "real comic" in the making.
...well, at least the "combat" portion of a real comic.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:38 PM|
Ooh... tough call, bro.
I would go with: (in no set order)
Blade Runner (for the classic Sci Fi spot)
Star Wars (wrap em' all into one, lol)
Watchmen (for the comic book movie)
Big Trouble in Little China- for B-Rated Action/Comedy
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:40 PM|
| And honorable mention to Tropic Thunder for almost making me pee in the theatre.
FUNNY as all hell, that one.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Oct 28 2013, 05:41 PM|
| OMG I love Big trouble in Little China.
Ok well that was my last question jax. Thanks very much for the interview. If anybody in the audience has a question for jax feel free to ask.
Thanks again jax
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 28 2013, 05:41 PM|
I like 4/5s of those choices
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:41 PM|
| Oh, and Event Horizon for the Horror pick.
...that makes 7.
(Never said my math was good, lol)
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 28 2013, 05:42 PM|
|Oh, I have a question. What are your favorite and absolute least favorite comic book movies?|
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:43 PM|
Thanks for having me Miles.
I'll leave with one of my favorite quotes from Big Trouble in Little China:
"We really shook the Pillars of Heaven, didn't we Wang?"
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:48 PM|
Favorite Comic Movies:
X-Men: First Class (I wanted to hate it, but it turned out rather well, lol).
Least Favorite Comic Movies:
Fantastic Four (Both).
Ghost Rider (Both).
And... uhm... Elektra. Though I didn't mind Ben's Daredevil.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:49 PM|
Was Blade Runner the odd man out? It's a bit dated, lol.
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 28 2013, 05:51 PM|
No, oddly enough I hated Big Trouble in Little China, lol. Not to pick a fight with people who love it, though. I think it was another one of those movies where I had an expectation, and it was not even trying to be what I wanted it to be. I thought it was going to be a "serious" modern pulp type story, and it had no interest in being that, so I didn't like what it did have interest in being, if that makes sense.
|Posted by: comixkid2099 Oct 28 2013, 05:51 PM|
you and I seem to be thinking on more or less similar wavelengths. I actually didn't "hate" the FF movies, but they were FAR from perfect.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:54 PM|
Yep, that makes total sense. That's why I didn't care for the GR or FF movies- they just went a different direction than I was hoping for.
Big Trouble appealed to me also because I'm an old-school fan of table-top Dungeons and Dragons. And it had a lot of those aspects in it.
But yeh... it was pretty damn cheesy, lol!
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 05:56 PM|
|Are you an old man?|
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 05:56 PM|
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 05:59 PM|
I liked parts of them.
More than anything, it was how they treated Dr. Doom that killed the first one for me (my wife made me watch all of the seasons of the t.v. show "Charmed", and the guy that played Dr. Doom played the exact same character type in Charmed- he was an egotistic demon that threw bolts of energy at people. When I saw FF, I was like- "Hey! That's not Doom! That's Balthezar from Charmed!!!" Heh heh.
For the second FF- the whole "Human Torch goes Super Skrull" added to Silver Surfer defeating the giant smoke monster from Lost (only they called it Galactus in this movie), were the drivers for my disillusionment with said comic flicks.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 06:01 PM|
Yes. I am a very, very old man. At least 89.
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 06:02 PM|

|What are your top 10 favorite heroes?|
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 06:06 PM|
That would nice Yellow, thank you.
I could also use a tube of Bengay, some Fiber Bars, and a random selection of Black and White movies from the 50's and Reader's Digests.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 06:07 PM|
Rom (the Space Knight)
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 06:08 PM|
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 06:09 PM|

|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 06:10 PM|
Say... your signature- correct me if I'm wrong, but that's from Deadpool isn't it?
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 06:11 PM|
Of course. Who else?
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Oct 28 2013, 06:12 PM|
Just gave credit now. Edited my signature.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 06:15 PM|
Well I put Juggs and Thanos in the first group, so they would carry over.
That would make it...
Rhino (don't ask why, I just like Rhino...)
Deadpool (semi-villain, anti-hero)
Obnoxio the Clown (from the X-Men Christmas Special)
|Posted by: jaxthejester Oct 28 2013, 06:16 PM|
DP sits towards the top of that list for me.

Thank you thank you and welcome to the Miles_Warren chat show. My guest tonight is relatively new to the forums. He has only been on the forums for two months and has already been promoted to a forum moderator (which must make some of you oldies feel like crap ). Give me a hand in welcoming.....HULKSTER94!!!!!!
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:15 PM|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 05:16 PM|
|Welcome hulkster. Let's begin the same way we always begin lol Can you tell us something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?|
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:18 PM|
|Well, naturally, I'm a big comic fan, but other than that, I enjoy playing video games, listening to metal, and when I get time, I write. But at the moment, most of my time is devoted to less fun activities such as school.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 05:23 PM|
|Oh yeah I remember you had to disappear from the forums for a few days because you had some big tests? How did they go?|
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:24 PM|
|Yea, I had final exams a few weeks ago. They went quite well.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 05:28 PM|
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! We should try and hold some sort of forum party. In fact...
*brings out a big cake for hulkster*
So what comics do you collect? I assume one of them is Hulk related
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:32 PM|
| Well, at the moment, all I can afford to do is pick up a few trades from time to time. The most recent stuff I got was a few trades from Hickman's Avengers.
I'm actually not as big of a Hulk fan as my name would imply. This username is one I've had for several years. I still like Hulk, but I am more of a cosmic fan these days, and I tend to follow writers over characters.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 05:36 PM|
|I see. So what writers would you follow then?|
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:42 PM|
Hickman, Snyder, Lemire, and Venditti are the ones I am going to read pretty much everything they work on, but other than that, there are several writers who will always merit a glance.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 05:47 PM|
|So now that school is over what are your plans? Have you thought much about it? lol|
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:49 PM|
|Well, I've still got a ways to go before I have my degree, so my main plans are to keep going,|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 05:53 PM|
| You mentioned you like to play video games? What console do you have? What games do you like to play?
Any plans to get a Wii U, X-Box One or PS4?
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 05:56 PM|
| I've got a PS3 as well as a PS2 that I bring out from time to time. I have no plans of upgrading any time soon. By the time I upgrade, it will probably be time for the PS5 to come out.
I primarily play action games and RPGs. I'll give almost any game based off of comics a chance, but I don't really pay much attention to fighters.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 06:00 PM|
lol I see your reluctance to upgrade.
You mentioned earlier that you write? What do you like to write about?
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 06:02 PM|
|For those that are interested you can read the Outstanding Eternals by hulkster http://z3.invisionfree.com/Mickeys_Comic_Tavern/index.php?showtopic=11258|
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 06:04 PM|
|Well, I've got two fanfics going(and 4 that I have put on hold indefinitely due to a less open schedule). I also have a fantasy novel that I've been working on, although I am in the process of a complete overhaul of that one(scrapped over 70 pages). I also have thrown together a couple ideas for comic series.|
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 06:05 PM|
I also have another fan fic called Outstanding Cosmic Powers, you can find that one in the Outstanding subsection.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 06:08 PM|
Holy shitballs!!! You're writing a novel????? Well done. Can you tell us what the story is about? Or does that have to remain hush-hush until it gets published?
What about your comic series?
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 06:12 PM|
Oh whoops. Thanks for the heads up hulkster. Here is the link to the http://z3.invisionfree.com/Mickeys_Comic_Tavern/index.php?showtopic=11326
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 06:16 PM|
Well, since I scrapped my last version, I have only been writing it in theory. The story is kind of complex, but in essence, it is about a washed up hero trying to reclaim his former greatness in order to defend against an invading army. It has a number of nuances to add to it, along with several storylines running alongside this main one(all connected to it though).
The comics are a bit varied. The one that I have planned the most for is the story of a top secret government organization for training superhuman soldiers. This organization is pretty much answerable to no one, and officially it doesn't even exist, so it can do whatever it wants in order to train the kids conscripted into the program. It would focus on how the kids deal with the harsh situation they are forced into(any more would be spoilers). The others are still vague, so I won't talk about them.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 06:21 PM|
| Well I wish you every success hulkster. Hopefully you'll get both works completed and published one day. I'll be sure to buy a copy
One last question before I hand it over to the audience. When the Marvel forums were announced that they were closing you were forced to move forum and post elsewhere. What made you decide to choose the Tavern to post in?
Also, what is your favourite thing about the forum so far?
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 23 2013, 06:26 PM|
| Well, I pretty much followed a few friends from the Marvel forums over here. I could come here and recognize a few faces.
So far, I've enjoyed the more free environment with the ability to go post without holding back.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Nov 23 2013, 06:30 PM|
| I 100% agree with you hulkster. Well that's it I'm afraid. But don't worry, the interview isn't over. If anybody in the audience has a question for hulkster then feel free to ask
Thanks again for the interview hulkster
|Posted by: rcbigal Nov 23 2013, 10:39 PM|
| Enjoy having you here!!!
|Posted by: jaxthejester Nov 23 2013, 11:35 PM|
| I have a few questions for Hulkster-
1. What are your favorite metal bands?
2. Who are your favorite Cosmics?
3. What movies rank high for you to?
|Posted by: thehulkster94 Nov 24 2013, 12:11 PM|
1. It depends on the day, and the list of bands that rotate in and out is pretty long, but a few of the bands I frequently listen to are: Impending Doom, Killswitch Engage, Phinehas, Extol, Your Chance to Die, and Oh Sleeper.
2. Not too sure at the moment.
3. I'm not a big movie person, so I can't really say.
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Dec 5 2013, 09:31 PM|
|When is the next interview?|
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Dec 5 2013, 11:23 PM|

But there will definately be one Friday.

|Hello and welcome to the brand new series of the Miles_Warren chat show. We have a special guest tonight. He is one of the tavern regulars and has been classified as certifiably insane by some members. I am of course talking about.....MR AWESOME!!!!!!!!!|
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 06:33 PM|
| Here we go. The start of a new and IMPROVED season. The most awesome guest as of now and episodes to come. I'm guaranteeing the highest rated show yet. I'm about to kck things up a notch around here, bringing the intensity and excitement that only comes with Mr. Awesome. I'm promising strong language, twice the blood and gore, decapitations, animal sacrifices, dead babies and most importantly - FULL. FRONTAL. NUDITY.
Now lets's do this shit.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 06:35 PM|
| Please God no nudity please....
Ok so to begin with can you tell us a little something about yourself? What hobbies you have etc?
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 06:39 PM|
| There isn't too much about myself that most here don't know. I'm fat, lazy, and bald (by choice). I'm usually pretty busy with two shitty retail jobs.
My hobbies include:

Wow you really like video games LOL I did recently add you on Playstation and the Wii U
What are your favourite video games? For that matter, what types of games do you find yourself playing the most often (platformers, RPGs? etc)
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 06:49 PM|
| I don't just play video. I'm also a collector of the vintage and rare stuff. My Saturn and Neo Geo collections alone are worth a few grand.
I'm the worst person to ask about a favorite game. I have a favorite for every genre on every system. You can ask me about favorite games seven times a week and I'll have a different answer for you every time.
I will play anything but sports games. I don't watch sports and I won't play them. Not even on the tv.
I play a lot of FPS, not that Call of Duty shit. I'm on the Orange Box every night playing Team Fortress 2. That's my favorite for online multiplayer.
Favorite fighting game series are Mortal Kombat, Virtua Fighter, and King of Fighters.
I'm picky with racing. Mario Kart will always be the best. Any one of them. Love Split/Second and Blur.
Not a racing game but one of my all time favorites is the Twisted Metal Series.
I was always a Sega guy back in the day and switched over to Playstation after the Dreamcast died. (RIP)
More current stuff - I love God of War and Yakuza.
I could go on all day.
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 06:50 PM|
|Platormers will always be the most fun. Love the new Rayman and Mario games. I have Super Mario 3D World paused on the WiiU right now.|
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 06:55 PM|
| So you are a real expert when it comes to gaming Would you ever consider selling your Saturn and Neo Geo collections either for pocket money or a more serious investment?
Also what is it about Sega that you liked so much in comparison to other consoles available at the time eg Nintendo? What did Sega offer you that other companies didn't?
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 06:57 PM|
I have both of those games on the Wii U. Both are brilliant. I am addicted to the 3D Mario at the moment. I almost have all the stars, stamps and yellow flags for every level
How are you finding the game at the moment? Is it what you were expecting?
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 07:03 PM|
| I would not sell them. That's what jobs are for. I still play all of my consoles anyway. All connected to three tvs in my room and two in another.
I don't know what it was about Sega. I'm ten years younger than my sister and she had the original NES when I was really young. I always played it in her room and when it came time for me to get my own console, my parents bought me the Sega Master System. Alex Kidd in Miracle World was the game I had to have.
From there it got even better. Like the commercials said - Genesis does what Ninten-don't.
I've always liked Sonic more than Mario. I thought Genesis was better than the SNES and I still do. Genesis had a lot of my favorite games. All Sonics, Decapattack, Chakan, Toejam & Earl, Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, better version of the original Mortal Kombat, Comix Zone, Altered Beast, Beyond Oasis (I think this series was better than Zelda. Would like to see more of it), Ristar, Vectorman,a and so much more.
I had to stop myself again.
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 07:05 PM|
i love it. I just got the game for Christmas. Taking my time with it. I'm up to the castle in World 3.
It was every bit as good as I expected. I'll go star and stamp hunting after I finish the game.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 07:08 PM|
| I remember playing Golden Axe all those years ago. Sonic and All stars racing transformed on the wii U brought back some memories of me playing my brothers sega games...
....you mentioned you like to get tattoos. How many tattoos do you have and what do you have tattooed?
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 07:24 PM|
| I have four tattoos right now. My first one was a grim reaper on my lower right arm. It's by one of my favorite artists - David Bollt. I wanted a grim reaper and I really liked his design. Just had to change it up a bit. I was in my senior year of high school when I got that one.
Shortly after that I got the Punisher skull thing, also on the right arm. It's up a lot higher by the shoulder.
The third one was something just to fill the space between the two (on the right arm again, obviously). I was unsure if I wanted a dragon or a snake. So the person came up with a dragon/snake creature for me. I used someone else in the shop for this one because I didn't feel like waiting for my usual tattooist. It didn't turn out so well because I was supposed to go back a few weeks after to go over it again and never did
A few years later, around this time last year, I finally went back and got that one fixed and it looks awesome now.
My latest one isn't even a year old yet. It is on my left arm (finally). It was finished in July 2013. It's Rawhead Rex - A demon/monster from an old Clive Barker horror movie. It was done by Kelly - My original tattooist. She is awesome. There's always a 4-6 month waiting list just to get a tattoo by her. She is that good.
The Rawhead Rex tattoo is on my upper left arm and is only the beginning of my horror movie themed sleeve that I have planned. I'm going back in February to get Pinhead, Freddy, and Blade from Puppet Master (not the daywalker).
I'm not going to show the Punisher tattoo because everyone knows what that will look like.
This is the dragon/snake before and after having it redone.
Here's Rawhead Rex - My favorite one so far.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 07:30 PM|
| Rawhead Rex is the dog's bollox. Really cool looking. Your dragon/snake hybrid is also cool. Any ideas what your next tattoo will be?
Also you seem to like horror stuff a lot. You said you were a fan of horror movies earlier but judging by your avartar you are a fan of horror comic characters? What is it you find so appealing about horror?
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 07:43 PM|
| The next tattoos will be past of the horror movie themed sleeve. Pinhead from Hellraiser, Freddy Krueger, and Blade from Puppet Master.
My plans after that - Re-color the grim reaper on my right arm. That's my only colored tattoo. The rest wlll all be black. Then Eddie from Iron Maiden on the other side of my right arm, opposite from the grim reaper. A big Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre on my lower left leg. That one is going to be huge. I'm also planning on "MR. AWESOME" across my back. That has been my name for years and I'm even called that quite often.
I'm not sure what I like about horror. Loved it since I was a kid. I was probably the only kid that had a six foot poster of Freddy Krueger on his bedroom door at age six. Always liked him. My second favorite after Pinhead.
I just really like horror. Not that psychological and paranormal bullshit. None of that shit where you have minutes of silence then something goes BOO or anything lame like that. I like the slasher stuff. The bloodier the better. More gore, splatter and deaths please.
I laugh when I hear people say that lame movies like Sinister and The Conjuring are good. Those are fucking terrible. I cannot watch a horror movie where nobody dies.
Not only my favorite horror, but my overall favorite movie of all time is Hellbound: Hellraiser 2.
As for the comic characters, it just kind of happened that way. Those are just really cool characters. I'm not really into comics like everyone else is on here. I used to be then everything I end up liking gets cancelled or my favorite characters just aren't around much. Besides Punisher. He's not a "horror" guy.
Those guys in my signature are my top five Marvel, not in order. I also really like Dormammu and Mephisto. Didn't feel like overdoing it though.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 07:49 PM|
| But...but Sinister and the Conjuring are good films....*sneaks away*
Well my last question was going to be why you changed your username from qqqqz to Mr. Awesome but you kind of answered that in your last post. So I suppose I should ask why it took so long for you to change your username?
I remember when I started posting regualrly at the tavern you were still going by qqqqz and that was only a few months ago. BTW I remember qqqqz from the Marvel boards....I don't think we ever chatted though
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 07:53 PM|
| I changed it when the Marvel boards closed and more people started coming here. I didn't want my name to eventually get taken.
You can tell I've had a PS3 since day one with a username like MrAwesome. I spent the $600, went home and made my account immediately.
Because of that name I get about 4-10 friend requests per day. It's funny seeing "mrawesome97593 or xmrawesomexxx wants to be your friend"
I'm the real deal.
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 10 2014, 07:55 PM|
| I did promise decapitations and full frontal nudity. I cannot let my fans down.
|Posted by: Miles_Warren Jan 10 2014, 07:57 PM|
| yeah I reckon that would be a common username. lol
Well that's it. Thanks for the interview. If anybody has a question for Mr. Awesome feel free to post it in the thread and Awesome will be more than happy to answer it for you.
Thanks again Awesome. Join uss next week when I will be interviewing another Tavern poster. See you then :)

I have a few follow up question for you:
1. Regarding Freddy- In what order would you rank his top 3 films? Are you more of a fan of the humor killer we saw in Dream Warriors, or the original/less humor that we saw NOES 1? Also, what did you think of the re-make?
2. Aside from Pinhead, who is your favorite Cenobite? You mentioned liking Hellbound. Do you like the scenes in Hell more? Or the scenes where the Cenobites are Earth bound? Also, did you ever read the Hellbound Heart?
3. What are your thoughts on Freddy vs. Jason? Would you have changed things up at all?
4. Does the "butt" emoticon hold any special significance for you?
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 11 2014, 11:32 AM|
| 1 - My favorite Nightmare on Elm Street movie is a toss up between the original and Dream Master (the fourth one) because I find it to be the funniest. Then Dream Warriors. I really did like all of them. Even the worst of them were still enjoyable.
The original was very well done. It was better as a movie than the more humorous ones but I like Freddy better as a character when he's funny. That's what got me into him. A slasher with a fun personality is more fun to watch.
I didn't like the remake. I did like that they had scenes from a lot different Nightmare on Elm Street movies all in one though. I think I disliked the Freddy character in that movie more than I disliked the movie itself. He was boring and made it hard to get into.
The latest Hellraiser was even worse. I won't get started on that one. I did like the Friday the 13th, Halloween, and Texas Chainsaw remakes, but not better than the originals. There are a lot of remakes that I did like more than the originals.
2 - Easy question. Chatterer would be my favorite other than Pinhead. My least favorites were all of the ones introduced in Hellraiser III, like Camerahead and CD. I liked the movie though.
I'm not sure which scenes I enjoyed more. I liked the movie as a whole. We got to see more Cenobite action before it got too out of control in the third one. The hell stuff was cool though, especially the end.
I have not read Hellbound Heart. I own it though. When it comes to reading a book vs PS3, guess which one always wins.
3 - I liked Freddy vs Jason because it showed that if not for lame human interference, Freddy kicks Jason's ass. Freddy pretty much had Jason finished until the people got involved. That was just a fun movie.
Some morons thought Jason won because he had Freddy's head at the end. I think they ignore that it was Lori who decapitated Freddy.
My change would be to not have the humans get involved during the battle, but then it would have been a much shorter movie.

Well said, sir.
Have you ever thought of posting a Horror movie review Thread here at the Tavern?
"Mr. Awesome's Gor and Horror Reviews"
I would be interested in hearing more of your thoughts on this genre.
|Posted by: Mr. Awesome Jan 11 2014, 04:04 PM|
| I actually have thought about horror reviews. Video game reviews too. Then I remembered that I'm really not the reviewing type. I'm more of a one word or single sentence person. If anyone asks me how a certain movie was, I would tell them about it. No problem with that.
I'm also into a lot more sick shit than just the usual horror. Like the real shock and torture stuff.
Movies like A Serbian Film, Inside, Amerikan Holokaust, Martyrs, I Spit on Your Grave.
Reviews won't help with getting anyone to watch that stuff.
|Posted by: jaxthejester Jan 11 2014, 04:32 PM|
True that. When you get into flix like Last House on the Left, They Call Her One Eye, etc.; you find a smaller and smaller audience core.
I've found the same holds true with really heavy gore. The heavier it gets, the smaller the crowd.
I have friends that loved Friday the 13th; but can't even sit through the Gore Gore Girls. It's quite an audience range.
Have you seen Ravenous? I watched it for the third time last night. Not exactly horror per say, but I enjoyed the hell out of colonial Windego. Great concept variety.
Digg'n the Rawhide Red Tat, BTW. I can't even think of another friend that even knows that movie. Very nice.

|Posted by: Miles_Warren Feb 2 2014, 01:27 PM|
|Ok I have to ask....business cards? Why do you collect business cards?|
|Posted by: YellowjacketPym Feb 2 2014, 01:29 PM|
|I really have no clue. I have some from Italy and Switzerland. I have collecting business cards since I was 7 or 8. The weird thing is, they are never for something I would need.|
