Marvel released a teaser this morning touting a reunion of The Immortal Iron Fist collaborators Matt Fraction and David Aja for an all-new ongoing series. Alas, we’ll have to wait to wait until April 14 “Cup O’Joe” panel at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo to learn the details. Until then, we’ll just have to busy ourselves with wild speculation based on the above teaser …

We've also been teased this week of a new project from Matt Fraction and David Aja. There's a "putting the band back together" aspect from the ad because everyone instantly identifies their names with "Immortal Iron Fist." Is this a case where you were looking for a project to re-pair those guys?

Alonso: I asked Matt to mull over a certain character I wanted to put the spotlight on, and he bit. He sent in a pitch and I loved it, but there was no artist attached at that point. Once the story came into focus, we discussed artists and the moment we realized Aja was an option we seized on it -- because A) he's already demonstrated chemistry with Matt, and B) he brings a certain "something else" to this project, a certain swagger. David will give the book a look, a pedigree, a vibe that will make it stand out. From the cover through the last page, we're looking to send a message with this book. It's a familiar character done in a whole new way.

Marvel Comics continues to give readers advanced looks at David Aja and Matt Fraction's "Hawkeye" series announced this past weekend at C2E2 2012 with a first look at Aja's cover for "Hawkeye" #3 revealed by USA Today. "Hawkeye" is Fraction's third series premiering in conjunction with a Marvel film. While "Hawkeye" drops in anticipation of Jeremy Renner's black-ops involvement in "The Avengers," Fraction's "Invincible Iron Man" and "Mighty Thor" (which hit stands before the "Iron Man" and "Thor" films, respectively) are still going strong. The new series will feature both Clint Barton and Young Avenger Kate Bishop for a shared Hawkeye dynamic hitting shelves in August.

"I wanted to find a way to stay interested and engaged and thought these types of adventure stories should feel hard-edged, gritty, human -- a little bit beaten-down, a little bit weathered. No sheen like in 'Avengers Assemble,' no special effects like in 'Secret Avengers.' Hawkeye will be out of costume as much as he's in costume," Fraction told CBR News. "This isn't a book about being a super hero. It's about being a good guy and, hopefully, a good man. This is what he has to do to tolerate who he is. It's what he does when he's not an Avenger. Gifted people helping out because it's the right thing to do."

Check out the cover below and stay tuned for more info on Fraction and Aja's "Hawkeye."
