Jaicy shifted not bothering to turn on the lights as she stepped into the kitchen filling the kettle with water before turning it on bracing herself on the edge of the sink panting heavily as she fought back the paralyzing terror and chest crushing fear brought on by her nightmares. Fishing a bottle out of the pocket of her robe where she’d dropped it when she’d fled the dark faces on the walls of her bed room she stared at it the pills rattling around inside, they weren’t strong enough anymore, they’d have to do until she could find a way to get stronger ones, popping the top she tipped a few into her hand carefully tossing her head back and throwing them in her mouth she shuddered as she swallowed before turning the tap of the sink on and drinking the cold water deeply before turning it off and popping the lid back on and stuffing the bottle away, her injuries had healed, on her body anyway.

Shifting she stepped back settling in a chair as she waited for the kettle to boil covering her face with her hands before glancing at the clock, hrmm a little after 3 in the morning she’d be asleep less than an hour. Not because she’d been patrolling, no she was still too scared to do that… she stared at her hands in the darkness her eyes had adjusted so the whole room had a sort of eerie green glow from the oven clock. No she couldn’t sleep nightmares haunted her sleeping and as she lay awake she could see figures looming out at her in the dark.

The pain wouldn’t go away.

The pills helped or they had been, they dulled everything so that she could focus well, mostly, maybe she got a little flighty but that was OK she was always a little cheerful and flighty they expected it of her because she was young, none of them would ever suspect anything, none of them would know about her fear, her inadequacy, Iron man said she needed to help he was right she had to, it didn’t matter that she didn’t want to fight any more, she’d chosen to become a hero she had to keep going on this rode she’d chosen no matter how weak or useless or scared she felt, and god she was so scared, and tired.

Standing as the kettle boiled she switched it off and went about making a cup of tea hands a little steadier now she’d down the pills was it really the pills or some sort of placebo effect who knew who cared as long as it helped, she was growing to used to them over the counter drugs weren’t doing any good any more. She reached back into the pocket of her robe she was already taking high doses of one of the most powerful over the counter pain killers available. They were barely working and she was going to run out soon, she needed something stronger something better…

The problem was figuring out how to get a hold of something stronger, she could arrange to see a private doctor, as Jaicy She’d been shot in the knee the damage was visible any doctor would recognize the signs if she said she’d be caught in a gang shoot out and over the counter prescriptions weren’t helping she might get something stronger if she could get one prescription forging more slips would be easy enough, yes that was what she’d do.

Nodding she moved settling with her tea cup, she’d need to find a private doctor hrmm maybe one of those less then credible private practices, she wouldn’t disguise herself but she’d wear normal cloths be as normal as possible, disguising herself would just make her more suspicious, a private physician wouldn’t recognize her or have any connections to Tony, no one would ever know. It would get expensive… that’s ok she had a nest egg that would do until this fight passed and she could convince tony to let her work as a maid and earn money.

Thor's return to Midgard had been a clandestine affair. Leaving Odin's side for but a moment, he had quickly used his hammer to return to where he felt most at home. Perhaps fitting, given that his mother was not Freya, but Gaia, the elder god of Midgard. Long before he had proven worthy of Mjolnir, hor had believed himself destined for greatness, even by Asgardian standards. He was a god apart, due to the other half of his parentage.

His desire to protect and defend his mother's realm was strong, and so he returned to his truest friends, earth's mightiest heroes, the Avengers. Hugin and Munin had brought back tales of friend against friend, even husband set against wife, and yet, the god of thunder found it hard to credit this turn of events. He had left, when 'registration' had been on everyone's lips, thinking the madness would pass.

So it was that he entered Stark Tower via the roof, walking along the familiar halls, finding the kitchen. "Jaicy! Sleep eludes you as well?" He swept the much smaller woman up into a hug.

Sipping her tea at first Jaicy didn't hear anything but soon the heavy thud of boots caught her attention. she shifted looking up as she set her cup down as a figure loomed but before she could say a word she was swept up against a massive chest.. and armored one at that. She tensed violently wiggling before he spoke fear lingered but it faded as she realized who held her probably the strongest man capable of the biggest kindness she looked up helplessly with a weak smile

"Thor! How wonderful, I didn't know when you would return when I was rescued you where already gone." she said offering a weak smile "Mmm I'm.. um having trouble sleeping is all." she said softly gesturing "I just made some tea, would you like some, I like it strong so it should be strong enough for you." she said with a smile wiggling blushing he'd gone and pulled her into such a friendly hug but all she was wearing was the old thread worn robe and a thin silky night gown, her secret pleasure, an indulgence she slept so little so she figured she might as well be comfertable, the silk was soft against her skin and the black was trimmed with pretty white lace and a white silk ribbon, the hem just barely past mid thigh,

On cool night she wore a pair of black silk pants as well but the nights had been so warm lately she'd taken to just wearing the nighty with out them. Her bare feet dangled a good foot off the ground as she grunted "mmm please let me down thorn." she said laughing weakly.

"As you wish, little one," boomed out the Odinson. The night was a time for loud words and louder deeds, as only a coward or cunning man would choose to strike, and so re-assurances were needed.

Thor grabbed a small teacup from the cabinet, careful not to crush it between his fingers, and nodded his thanks to the girl. Though within the limits of human growth, the sheer size of his hands dwarfed normal sized utensils and containers. Years of being teammates with women that wore even less than Jaicy currently was made it easy for him to maintain his composure around her. Besides which, his heart belonged to another, even if he was not quite certain who.

"I regret my absence, but it will continue. I am Midgard's protector, son of the All Father and Midgard's mother. I have watched over this world for countless millenia, and no one, not Tony Stark, not Reed Richards, NO ONE, will license me to act as their weapon. I possess a power undreamt of by mortals, a power that will protect this world whether they deem it allowed or not."

Aware he was grandstanding, Thor suddenly lowered his voice. "I take it that Iron Man and the others are gone?"

Jaicy smiled as he let her down moving to pour him some of the tea when he got himself a tea cup smiling faintly "Are you leaving again soon then?" she asked looking at him before setting the pot down and settling to sip her own tea slowly "I-I guess as a god you have some real responsibilities hmm?" she asked with a weak smile.

"Mm? Y-yes I think so... I had to stop early, I'm just... tired lately I still need to stop and rest a lot I am mostly recovered>' she assured quickly before smiling warmly

"Your a wonderful hero Thor, your strong and very imposing when you say things, people listen to you." she said swirling a finger in the the lukewarm brew "Your very strong to, you could be shot and I mean your a god would it even hurt you?" she asked seriously.

Thor threw the tea back and quaffed it in a single gulp. Despite being hot, it wasn't nearly hot enough to hurt him, who had battled the fire demon Surtur. He looked at Jaicy levelly.

"Aye, responsibilities that would test any, man or god. I am not just an Avenger, but also son to the All Father. I love my father, Odin, but he is...difficult to please. I am not clever like my brother. I have seen many men, young and old alike, butt heads with their fathers as well. I am also his heir, and future ruler of Asgard. And also his champion. So I live between both Midgard and Asgard, doing my duty as I can."

He gave a tired smile to Jaicy. "Would that were the truth. I know I am not learned as are men. I am the the strongest of gods, but my counsel is not sought. On Midgard, in Asgard, I am valued for my hammer, my strength. But nor is the Odinson stupid. My words are heeded because of the power that lies behind them. If I said to you the sky was green, you would think Thor had gone mad. And yet, heads would bob yes, out of fear of a mad god."

He smiled again, a brighter, more genuine smile at her question. "Few are the weapons of Midgard that can truly harm an Asgardian, let alone me. A cannon might hurt, aye, but would not turn away the Odinson, nor his wrath. But I came here to avoid conflict, to escape the chains of responsibility, if only for a short period. It is why I had hoped the others would be gone. Do you know how the war fares? I have avoided it as much as I can, yet I fear ere long, I may be forced to finally act."

at his words Jaicy looked up smiling "Mmm You clever in other ways Thor, I've seen it, You might not be a diabolical schemer like Your brother but would you want to be, smart people suffer a lot, because they know that scary things are possible." she said warmly "And the diabolical like Loki only want to hurt other." she said gently moving to pat his hand comfortingly. "You, your fun, and reliable, people can enjoy your company but they can also depend on you, you try your hardest and try to make the best decision... that, in my opinion, makes a strong ruler, With gods like you Smaller people like me are very safe." she said warmly looking at her tea sipping it before standing pouring him a fresh cup.

She smiled "Are you sure it's just not sought yet because you're young? I was under your still fairly young for a god." she said smiling "They haven't seen what you can do yet and maybe you haven't either, as time passes and you have more experiences the more you'll be able to help others, I'm sure even your father did not guide people when he was young he had to grow and learn as well... he may seem difficult to please but if you're his heir that means he knows your destined to take his place, a position that demands honor and respect not only from the people who are commanded but the commander, you as a person would have to honor and respect your position... your a good person but your still impulsive, young. He expects a lot of you because he has confidence you can do it." she said warmly "think of it this way would he bother pushing you if he wasn't positive you would be capable?" she asked him seriously sipping more tea as she sat

"to have someone with that much confidence in you is a gift really, always be grateful for that faith." she sighed shaking her head "Not well at all they continue fighting I tried I pleaded this isn't right... we all have a common enemy those who want to hurt others why are fighting because some bureaucrat decided they where dissatisfied with the way things where going..." she said softly pushing hair out of her face "I'd like to stay out of it, like you can... but I owe Iron man my life he saved me from that white room... he brought me home, He's right I have to suck it up." she said softly tears making her eyes burn

"I-I'm sorry I'm just tired I babble." she said looking up with a weak smile "I wish I could have had a god like you watching over me, I feel like no one is, no one wants to, I'm just a little person, The gods have bigger more important people to care about..." she said softly.

"I fear this Civil War will leave my reputation for reliability besmirched by the do nothing class. On Midgard, I believe you call them journalists. But my strength serves little purpose once I am made ruler of Asgard. The All-Father's wisdom, his power, will also fall unto me. When I do become Lord of Asgard, I will be forced to leave the Avengers." He sounded wistful. Thor was all about action. Being stuck in Asgard while others fought in his name was not a very brave act.

"Young? Do not be fooled by my youthful visage, Jaicy. I am thousands of years old in this existence. And thousands of years older in others. It is partly my fate, the All-Father's intentions for me, to appear as I do. And partly...how I am perceived. I am headstrong, aye. I am vain and careless, aye. Being seen as that, being known as that, makes me even more into that." The gods were a complicated thing, Thor perhaps even more so than others, his parentage unique among the gods of all pantheons, so far as he knew.

"I watch over all Midgard, Jaicy, but the Avengers specifically. While you possess great power among mortals, to be the Odinson's friend is no mean feat. And as an Avenger, you may owe Stark your life, but you do not owe him your honor. Never compromise yourself, even in the face of death. And an honorable man, he would not ask you to do so." Unspoken, Thor's words hung there: Tony Stark was not an honorable man.

Jaicy shook her head "It shouldn't.. it's a strong man with strong conviction to say "This is wrong' and refuse to take part at all. not be swayed by loyalty or debt to take up in a cause he doesn't believe in." she said softly "If your.. 'reporter' can't see that that's their problem isn't it? besides journalists never know what their talking about how can they possibly understand a situation their not even part of?" she said dismissively she had... a low opinion for journalists and reporters, mostly spawned from their disrespect during her time and the hospital and during the funeral after her family had passed away.

"well yeah yeah but your not as old as some of the other gods and certainly not as old as your father right." she pointed out "what I'm saying is, for a god, your younger, You just have a few more zeros on your age then people here do." she said laughing a little before sighing

"MMmm I can't." she said shaking her head "I promised... I'd have promised anything to get out of there..." she said softly looking "You say the gods watch, you watch... did you see. where I was and what happened to me?" she asked softly gripping the cup tightly not sure she wanted the answer "I-if you had you'd have done something that was a stupid question... if you'd seen that you'd have come and told Iron mand and everyone where I was and made it stop." she said with a weak smile before sighing

"By the time I was taken to that white room at that 'hospital' I'd almost given up.. I kept trying to escape they wouldn't let me leave, they strapped me down like an animal stuck things in me and hurt me... Cappy came but he left me there just left me there..." she said softly closing her eyes breathing in the fragrance of the tea "and then Mr. Stark came and he took me home.. but he laid it out straight before even letting them untie me... I had to help his side." she said softly. "what if he left me there if I had said no? I was so close ready to just swallow my tongue." she said shoulder shaking a little
