6 weeks? Rats.

Jake nodded with surrender as he knew he had to cool his jets for a while until Raine was completely healthy. His smiled returns as he saw her holding the baby to her chest, loving the visual that he saw seeing of a mother and her child. However, that happy moment turned to sadness as he saw some tears falling from her eyes. He was hoping that she wasn't going to have one of her classic breakdowns, for that would be so bad if she relapsed now. "What's wrong, Raine? Are you alright?"

[Raine Mulow]

Raine looked at Jake, "We still lost a baby, and by some miracle Rebecca Laurie is here, happy and healthy. But it's still not fair. Aaron took away an innocent life, I know he is dead...rightfully so, but he still should burn in hell for the pain he has caused everyone." She said. Raine cuddled Rebecca Laurie to her chest, she was a mother. Mother to a happy little..very little baby girl.

Jake did remember the unborn child that was lost during Christmas. He does think about what could have been, for maybe, Rebecca Laurie was a twin. Unfortunately, they will never know the answer to that question as the unborn child was lost and gone. They will never know what would have been, but for now, Rebecca Laurie was the best thing that could have happened to them.

Jake looked at Raine and leaned forward to carefully bring her closer, bringing the baby closer as well. He smiled at both of them. "Well, wherever Aaron is, he can't harm us anymore. He can do nothing to us anymore. You're free of him and his influence, and so is our daughter. She will grow up in a loving family with loving parents by her side."

Raine dozed off with the baby on her chest happily napping. She was content with the baby in her arms.

A few hours passed.

Raine was up rocking the baby singing her a lullaby to calm her. Rebecca Laurie was being fussy and Raine was happily calming her. She rocked the baby and sang sweet little lullabies. Just happily taking care of her.

Jake smiled as he watched Raine fall asleep with the baby in her arms. It looked so beautiful that he had to take a photo of it. Standing up, Jake pulled out his cell phone and took a picture of the scene, knowing that he will definitely have that picture framed and put in the bedroom. It will be there for a long time as a reminder of how lucky he was to have two beautiful ladies in his life.

---Hours later---

The doctor knocked on the door, and Jake unlocked the door to let him in. The men shook hands as the doctor saw that Raine was holding the baby and smiled as he was ready to tell her some good news. "Hello, Ms. Mulow. I need to take the baby for one more series of test to make sure that she's completely healthy. Once we know the results, I think that it will be safe enough for both of you to go home."

[Raine Mulow]

"Okay.." Raine said handing Rebecca over to the doctor who promised to have her back soon.

Raine looked at Jake, "We do make pretty babies.." She commented and opened her arms for a hug. "So Agent Mitchell, are you ready for sleepless nights, dirty diapers, and a screaming infant?" She asked with a giggle. That's what they were in for at home.

[Fulfiller]

Jake nodded to the doctor as he took Rebecca away from them, taking her back to the NICU to make sure that she's perfectly healthy. A silent prayer was said by Jake as he hoped that the good Lord would hear his prayers. Rebecca was a miracle to them, and she will always be their miracle for years and years.

Jake turned to see what Raine had to say as he walked into her embrace, his arms closing in on hers as he also laid a kiss on her neck. She was right, though. As soon as they would all get home, it would be a whole different world for them. Was he happy about it? Of course. "Yeah, I'm ready. I'm ready to be with you and our child in our home. I had enough of this hospital for a lifetime. Are you ready as well, Ms. Mulow?"

[Raine Mulow]

Raine smiled, "I'm ready, you're already an amazing father.." Raine said sitting up and swinging her legs over the edge of the bed to get up. "We need the car seat..." She said and texted Markus to ask if he could bring it by. She smiled, "Birthdays, holidays we're going to spend them as a family...and you know which one is first? " She asked brightly. "Father's Day." She whispered and kissed him gently.

Jake smiled at Raine as she mentioned the holiday that was coming up. It was true that Father's Day was coming up in a few days, and Jake was about to celebrate his first with his new family. He was blessed to be a part of this. "Well, you have already given me the best gift I could ever want. You have given me a baby girl, who we can call ours. Raine, I love you, and I will always love you."

Jake gave a passionate kiss to Raine's lips as he really loved her. As many things that they have been through since they met, that love has grown stronger and stronger. Many would say that it was close to being unbreakable, and now, Rebecca Laurie was now a part of that loving bond. Together, nothing could break them apart.

[Raine Mulow]

"I love you too Jake so very much..." Raine said and stroked his cheek.

The doctor came back with Rebecca Laurie who was sleeping again. Raine took her back gently.

"She's perfectly healthy, I'm signing you two out..." He said and left.

Raine beamed up at Jake with a big smile, "She can go home!" She said kissing Rebecca Laurie's head. "Dad's bringing her outfit and the car seat." She nodded.

Jake beamed a great smile as the doctor returned with Rebecca Laurie in his hands, handing the baby back to Raine. With a clean bill of health, Jake stood up and shook the doctor's hand. "Thank you, Doc. We don't know what we have could have done without you and your staff."

"You're welcome, but don't thank me. Thank whoever is watching over your child. She's a pretty lucky kid. Most babies her size would still be here for weeks up to months. You two have a special kid, and I would definitely hold onto her."

Jake nodded to that as the doctor turned and left the room, smiling as he went to see Raine and his daughter. He kissed Raine's cheek, then the baby's cheek, absolutely thrilled that they were going home. "Hey, girls. We're going home today."

[Raine Mulow]

Rebecca Laurie started wailing, crying and squirming.

Raine tried to calm her but Daddy woke her with his kiss. "Daddy, you woke her up." Raine said, Rebecca Laurie wanted her Daddy. "It's okay baby...shhh...Do you want Daddy to hold you?" She asked bouncing the baby gently. Rebecca just kept crying and wailing.

Jake chuckled a little bit before taking the crying baby from Raine, trying to grip the child without being kicking or whapped by the flailing limbs. He really didn't mean to wake Rebecca Laurie up, but it was normal for a child. He was like that, according to his mom. Finally, after a couple of dodging moments, he managed to grab hold of her and bring her to his chest, rocking her gently as he tried to get her to sleep.

"Hey, I'm sorry that I woke you up. It was my fault. Go to sleep, little Rebecca Laurie. When you wake up, you'll be in your new home in your new crib, and with all of the toy turtles you can play with."

[Raine Mulow]

Raine smiled at the turtle comment, "They all looked lonely, and they fit...she has teddy bears and bunnies and other animals too." She said smiling.

Rebecca stopped crying and started falling asleep again. She was cooing quietly.

Raine smiled, "And meet Shadow.." She said.

Markus came running in with the carseat, "She is healthy?" he asked.

Raine nodded.

Jake smiled as Rebecca Laurie fell asleep in his arms once again. He was happy that the child was finally being peaceful, just as Markus came in with the car seat. Jake gently placed her in the car seat and strapped her in carefully. "She's completely healthy, and she is ready to go. It's time to go home."

Jake smiled as the doctor came back into the room with the release papers, while Markus gave Raine a bag with some clothes and shoes for her to wear. Jake took a pen from the doctor's lab coat and signed the papers, releasing his favorite girls from the bonds of the hospital. It was finally time to leave the hospital behind and head back home, ready to start their new lives as parents.
