Crap, what does Fury want this time? Every time he calls, I feel like a puppet on a string.
A figured could be seen walking into the meeting room, though all would know him as Spider-Man. For those that knew him as Peter, today wasn't the day to talk to Peter Parker, it was the day to talk to Spider-Man. He was already in a sour mood, mainly due to the coma Tony was in, and the fact that Fury had 'buttered him up' before inviting him to this little meeting. It didn't help that Jameson had tried to make the entire car explosion look like a set-up, and what made matters worse, people were believing that piece of scum. Though he was use to Jameson hating him, he still couldn't help but get ticked off at times.
"So, who else is going to show up." His voice was sarcastic, though he was curious as to who would show up.
Knowing Fury, it would involve at least Wolverine, Captain America, possibly She-Hulk, and who knew who else. He just shrugged as he headed further into the office, though instead of taking a seat, his shot a web to the ceiling, sitting there at first. Slowly he lowered himself to where he was hanging upside-down right above his chair, though he knew this would probably annoy the other superheros that were called here. If anyone made a comment, then he'd 'act normal' and take a seat in the chair, though he wasn't too fond of sitting in this costume, especially considering the wedgie that would be a result.

She-Hulk was next to arrive. When she saw Spider-Man, she winked at him. "Told you we were supposed to arrive far enough apart that they wouldn't suspect, tiger," she told him, in a stage whisper. She said it for the camera's benefit, because so far, Spider-man was the only other person in the meeting room. If she knew Fury, and she knew him well enough to know she'd need a shower after hearing whatever it was he had to say, he wouldn't show up himself, just send a robot or attend via hologram.
She didn't bother checking the chairs before sitting. She was sensitive about her quarter-ton weight, despite the body she had. It made for interesting public appearances, and worrying about whether a seat could hold her. "I guess the big question, Spider, is who else is invited? I'd hate for you to think I went through this charade just to get you alone..." She watched him fidget a little more.

Confusion. That was the one word that could describe Wolf best at this moment. The young American Indian had only been in New York for a few short days... hadn't even really had time to look around the city that much. Already she'd received a letter, sent to the hotel room Tom had set up for her, addressed with her nickname that very few knew her by. Oh yes, she was confused. And highly curious, at the same time. So, perhaps a bit naively, she'd followed the instructions to arrive at the designated building at the designated time. At least... she hoped she was on time... she'd gotten a little turned around in the maze of streets and didn't exactly have a way to check how long it had taken.
Upon arrival at the building, she'd been directed to a room... and stopped dead in the doorway as she caught sight of what else was in the room. A woman who was a bit larger than herself, and incredibly... green... and another human dressed in a designed costume of sorts, suspended upside down from a web attached to the ceiling. Swallowing nervously, she looked between the two, hesitating for a moment before finally speaking quietly. "Do I... I mean, am I in the right room? I got this letter from a... Fury..." Now she was just making herself sound like a fool. So she stopped talking, glancing down at the letter in her hand while waiting for one of them to address her... in whichever way that might be.

Luke would have been surprised to see so many super powers in one room, had he not been invited by Nick Fury. The man knew how to find people, and he knew just who to find. In fact, he was able to find Captain America, eventhough Luke himself wasn't. Cage arrived promptly, as did the other members. Entering, Cage was silent as he made his way to a seat next to Captain America.
"I need to see you after this, Cap," he said, crossing his arms. For a moment, he surveyed the room. No need for an introduction, and no need for formal greetings. Everyone knew each other, or at least had a good idea of who was who. Besides, it would take up some of the valuable time that Fury could be using to explain just what in the sweet Christmas was going on.
Of course, he had heard of Stark's untimely "accident". He had heard about it a week ago, while he was in another country handling some business. As devoted as he was to the business there, he had made it a point to return to the States to see what the deal was.
With a nod of respect to Fury, Cage remained silent and patient for the time being.

Stark Tower, she's been here before and actually plenty of times. The woman walking down the hallway known to many as Ms. Marvel. The woman who worn the black leotard with the bolt on the costume, and the mask to cover the woman she was when not in the costume. That woman was named Carol Danvers, but that was another story for another time. For now, she was Ms. Marvel, one of the greatest superheroes of our time. Now in the base of the Stark Tower, all due to a message from Nick Fury, telling her that he needed her there today for an important meeting. Now last time Carol checked, she was not an Agent of SHIELD anymore, so why was Fury messaging her? Not to mention, of all places, the Stark Tower itself.
Needless to say, she would go anywhere she was needed. Afterall, she was a super hero, a female hero at that. Always being told by her father and even to the point of not being accepted by her father due to her joining the Air Force and not taking the males over females route that he believed in. It hurt her all the time thinking of it, that her own flesh and blood. If only he knew of what she was today, a heroine and a strong one at that. It did, however, encourage her to be the woman she was today and that was something no one would take away from her.
Arriving at the meeting, she had already seen many familar faces of heroes she had worked with before, and then there were some that she has never seen or heard from. "Good evening!" she greeted the many heroes as she looked around at the seats, finding one open and was pretty much calling for her. So therefore, Ms. Marvel had taken a seat at the chair, still wondering what the point of this meeting was. obviously a proposition of some sorts. There were a lot of hard-hitting heroes in the room right now and it made her wonder even more. Could this have some impact of what happened with Tony in Virginia?

Fury awaited in the shadows for the time being to see exactly who would show up to the meeting today. It's been about a year ago when he held another meeting to gather heroes together...which is why he thought it was needed once again. Of course Fury wouldn't admit that. Ever since the incident with Tony, it made Nick wonder and he wonder if this was all his fault.
He waitied for a while longer. He was awaiting for another hero to step in. The man received the invitation, but in all honesty, Fury began to believe that he wasn't going to show up and he didn't...yet. It was no surprise. The two never really seen eye to eye much.
And so he stepped from out of the shadows, allowing all eight heroes. "Good to see that we have an almost full house." he said, stating that someone who was suppose to be here wasn't. "But I'm not counting on him to show up. You all just being here shows how much you care about what you do."
He looked at the faces, the many different faces. "The hero community is suffering and has been doing so for quite sometime. I know everyone has the Superhuman Registration Act heavily on their minds, but right now, after what happened to Stark, you all need to stick together closer than ever. For certain reasons, I believe whoever attacked Stark will try to attack any of you. Yes, even you, my dear." he referred to Chetan. She was new to the hero business, he knew that. But all that mattered was that she had a gift that could be used for good. It was more than enough reason to believe that she could be attacked as well.
Crossing his hands behind his back, Fury walked towards the window of the building, looking outside and just thinking of the thought that perhaps it was Fury that was responsible for what had happened. A few of these heroes were apart of it, but Nick made sure that they would not remember. "Which is why I want the eight of you to stick together, to form a team so you will always keep in touch for the time being. Just think of it as a New Avengers team..." before he continued, he looked at the Captain, leader of the current Avengers. "Cap will still lead. Wolverine, Spider-Man, She-Hulk, and Thor already official members. Only differences are that Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, and the newcomer Chetan will be apart of the team. The other difference? We'll use the Stark Tower as the new base for the time being. That way, it'll be easier for SHIELD to keep in touch with all of you."
He walked towards the table of heroes. Looking at all of them before he spoke. God he could use a cigar right now... "Yes I know many of you wouldn't like being with SHIELD as it is, but for your own safety, it is necessary until we find out who is doing this, and for all of you to stick together until that time comes."
Leaning against the table, he looked around, and stared at Wolverine inparticular. "So what do you say heroes?" he asked them all, to see who will be apart of this team.

The meeting was slowly growing, and of all the faces to show up, only one he didn't recognize. When Jen teased him, he couldn't help but blush behind his mask, and just hung there, smirking over at her. Soon, the Cap, Luke Cage, and even Ms. Marvel joined. His attention fell upon Ms. Marvel, though who could blame him, she was a killer in ther looks department. Shaking his head, he focused on Fury as he appeared out of the shadows, and just listened as he spoke. So, he was going to try and get them with a sob beginning, worry them, and then throw something on them? Yeah, that was typical Fury alright, and Spidey was starting to get annoyed with it.
"So let me get this straight Fury, you want us to all team-up and have a merry ol' time while someone is probably trying to ruin our name?" His voice was sarcastic, and his eyes (though hidden by his mask), narrowed on Fury.
See, that would be a problem for Spider-Man, he only teamed-up when it was necessary. Sure, he was a member of the Avengers, but they knew he wasn't a 'regular' on missions. He tended to stay closer to Queens, taking out his own little bunch of psychos, most of which were just simple thugs with powers, nothing too troubling. He just lowered himself into his chair, shaking his head and he thought about it. No, Spidey was a solo player, but he wasn't like Logan, he would team-up just for the fun of it at times. He looked at Fury, a smug look behind his mask, and pointed a finger at him.
"Though I'm an Avenger, I prefer sticking to my solo roots. Sorry to disappoint you Fury, but count me out of this little team." He spoke quietly, a semi-harsh tone in his voice.
He rose out of his seat, and went to leave, but suddenly came to a halt. He'd hate himself for this, but he returned to his seat and quietly sat down. He'd listen to the Cap's view, and then; though he hated this part most of all, listen to Fury again. Something told him this meeting would end in a new team formation, and quiet honestly, was there ever a team? Members constantly shifted, new teams rose and fell, and old teams resurfaced with newer members. God, sometimes, being a superhero was just a pain in the rear. His purpose was keeping the citizens safe from villians and supervillians alike, and that meant staying near where his aunt lived, to protect her and MJ. He just stared at Fury, wishing he didn't have his mask on, wanting to show Fury his distrust.

"Don't just walk away, Spider." Jen didn't know what the young man was thinking, but Spider-man had an impressive list of enemies and had proven resourceful over the years. He was a valuable addition to the Avengers in her opinion, and Fury, for all her dislike of him, was no fool. He was right to want Spider-man on the team. Plus, she thought he was cute under that mask.
"I'm in, Nick. I'm already an Avenger, and like you said, its not really any different than what we're doing now. But I hate losing Pe-," she caught herself, unsure of who else knew his secret identity, "Spider-man like that. And," turning towards Chetan, the only person there she didn't know, she introduced herself, "I'm Jennifer Walters, Attorney at Law."

While he listened to Nicks offer, he couldn't help but think that in the back of his mind, it seemed like a way for SHIELD to keep a tighter leash on the Avengers. For a long time, The Avengers had been it's own entity. Sure, they'd worked with SHIELD before. They'd worked with all the major groups. The Defenders, The X-Men, every team under the sun. But they'd never needed protection. They'd handled they're own problems, and stuck behind each other no matter what. But what Fury was proposing... moving them in to Stark Tower, in an attempt to keep in contact with them? Something was up.
"Nick... thanks. Your hospitality in this matter is appreciated. You know that ever since World War two, I've had the greatest respect for you. But I need to make one thing clear. We're the Avengers. We aren't here for SHIELD, we aren't here for the X-Men, we're here to protect the world. If that means working with you, then that's fine. But we work for ourselves. We make decisions as a team, and we protect each other as a team." he said, glancing over at Peter.
"He's right. We need to stick together." he said, looking at Chetan this time. "But at the same time, we have to think about what's best for the Avengers. If that means working closely with SHIELD, then so be it. But the Avengers Mansion is one of the most secure locations in the world. And remember, we've got a bonafide Thunder God, the worlds greatest Lawyer, and some of the greatest heroes in the world standing next to us. Unless you have some pressing need for us to be in Stark tower, the mansion is more familiar to all of us.
And Nick.... if any one on the team starts having second thoughts... I'm not going to ignore it. They're valuable friends and allies, and right now, I need everyone I can get."

One by one, they filed in… each costume more unique and even stranger than the one before it. It wasn’t long before she began to feel very out of place. Upon hearing that she was, indeed, in the right place… she gingerly shuffled forward to the nearest empty seat, and settled down on the edge of it, unable to really get comfortable in a room of people she’d never met, who all seemed to know at least part of what was going on. But then again… it was difficult to tell exactly what they were feeling, with those masks covering most – if not all – of their faces. After several moments passed, the clad people exchanging occasional greetings of sorts, one man walked in that sent a chill down her spine. The hair along the backs of her arms and neck stood on end, and her heart stilled. That was… no human that just entered the room. Her eyes darted away from him quickly, focusing on the table before her. She’d never felt that amount of power in a physical being before. What is going on here?
He took a seat, and a man she assumed to be Fury entered the room. All eyes focused on him as he spoke… speaking of a man that had been hurt, and warning that someone must be out for all of them. That certainly did not sit well on her already-strung nerves. Stiffening in her seat as the man turned his gaze directly to her, claiming that she too was in danger, her eyes darted frantically about the room. It didn’t take long for them to land upon the one she’d been hoping to see. A small wolf spider was skittering along the edge of the table, climbing on to the hand that she set in front of it. The tickling hairs on the eight legs soothed her, as the creature made its way up her arm to stop at her shoulder. Help me, sister. The silent plea was met with a gentle sense of calm, her nerves slowly unwinding as – for the first time since entering the room – she felt safe. Relaxing back into the chair at last, she turned her gaze to meet the green woman’s, who had just introduced herself. “Wolf.” She replied with her own name. In her minor emotional panic she’d missed the beginnings of the conversation, and was slightly confused as to why the man that had been hanging from a web seemed about ready to leave. She shook her head slightly to clear her thoughts, taking comfort from her new companion and focusing her mind on what they were talking about. Forming a team? That was great… but… what sort of team are we talking about here? She kept silent for the moment, hoping that listening to the others would help fill her in so she didn’t end up making a fool out of herself.

And there Thor came in, with his wise words. "Nice to see ya too, bub!" Logan spoke back to the God of Thunder and his grand entrance. I mean geez, almost scared the rookie girl to death. Wolverine leaned back in his chair, setting his feet on the table and folded his arms as he listened to Fury. Danger huh? The real danger was Wolverine. He had nothing to worry about and thought the mess Fury spoke of was pure crap. There was somethintg else going on here, it just didn't feel right. It was like he was hiding something from them, but what else was new regarding Fury?
Well the web-head was soon to back out, which didn't surprise Logan. Spider-Man was more of a solo man than anything so he wasn't surprised. However, Jen made sure to stop the web-head and count herself in for this new team that was to be formed. He assumed Cap was down as well, though had spoken the way the Cap usually does, giving a full biography of the Avengers. He would soon speak next, not being able to keep quiet anymore. "Honestly, I could care less where our base is, but understand this Fury. They don't say I'm the best at what I do for nothin'. You know that more than anyone else here. If anyone even tries to pull a stunt with me..." he withdrew his sharp and shiny claws from his right hand, presenting them to everyone at the table rather well. "then they're in fer an ass-kickin of a lifetime!"
Then he remembered what Jean Grey had told him a while back, of how proud she was of him for not only being an X-Man, but an Avenger. He couldn't let her down. "Count me in Fury, but you got alotta explainin to do, such as, what the hell makes you think someone's after us?! I think we have that right know, since, ya know, we're workin' with ya and everything!" he stared at Fury, awaiting for an answer. He was in no way to stop Spider-Man. The choice was his and he understood that. As much as he didn't like the web-head at times, he respected him and knew he was a valuable team member. It was his choice though, Logan made his.
