Steve Rogers - more affectionately known to the nation he loved as Captain America, had been working out. A pair of workout shorts and a pair of black and orange New Balance 574's adorned him as he busily bench pressed, not his max, but a decent weight of five hundred pounds. The SSS had enhanced him to peak physicality, and probably beyond what any average Joe had going.
His phone rang, the Indiana Jones theme blaring out as he put away the weights, grabbing on it and looking at the name on his Iphone. Jen Walters? She-Hulk? It was the Avengers other legal counsel besides Matt Murdock, and one of the smartest people he knew to date. It also helped that she was an able combatant, given that both he and the assassin Gamora had trained her on many separate occasions. He ran a hand through the close cut blond hair as he answered.
"Jen, it's good to hear from you. Just got done with a work out, so I'll be up in a few." he said as he bounded towards the elevator. Stark Tech had made the place incredibly efficient, and the ride was barely a second before he was out and jogging towards the front door, still on the phone.

Jen watched Steve come out the door, shirtless. He might possess only peak physical human attributes, but his abs...she shook the thought away. She had it bad for spandex, after all, and she'd seen Jan and Hank enough to not want to get involved with someone on the team. At least not regularly.
"Hi Steve," she waved cheerily. "I know I'm on reserve member status right now, but my late evenings are pretty free, so I can cover a few nights off for our secret identities." She traced a finger down his lightly sweaty chest. "Or other things." She had a mild flirtation going on with most of the other Avengers, she hoped they didn't take it seriously. "Just a heads up, I also have some vacation time coming up, so I'm looking at two weeks out of the city in a while."

Steve didn't realize that he'd forgotten a shirt until Jennifer slowly moved a finger along his chest. At first, he wasn't sure whether to be embarrassed by the situation or flattered, but he took it in stride. He'd never really put much stock in to his looks, though when you spent most of the time behind a mask protecting the world, you lost sight of such things. Especially relationships. He'd never viewed Jen in an overtly sexual manner. She was pretty, but she was a colleague, and a friend. He wondered exactly how Reed and Sue managed to pull off a relationship. And T'challa and Storm seemed to be a fairly happy couple. But even if he did date Jen, would they ever really see each other? She was a high class criminal attorney that moonlighted as an Avenger, and he spent most of his time fighting global threats and stopping alien invasions.
His mind drifted elsewhere for a few moments before smiling. "Please, come in. I was just working out downstairs" he said, holding the door open for her. It was a habit, something that had been instilled in him since birth by his father and his fathers father. "We could use the help Jen. We've been short staffed for awhile. And with Osborn forming Avengers, crime rates on the rise, most of us are working day in and day out. Daredevil hasn't left Hell's Kitchen. Thor has been dealing with things in Asgard. Right now, the team is Wolverine, Spider-Man, and My self, and we've all been working ourselves to the bone. Any thing you could provide would be of assistance."
Two weeks in the city? It had been a long time since he'd taken a vacation. He couldn't even recall the location, much less what he'd been doing.

Jen walked through the door ahead of Steve, who had held it open. It irked her slightly, and she suppressed the feeling. For all his many wonderful points, Steve Rogers did not understand Women's Lib. But it was a nice gesture anyway. She didn't mind walking ahead of him; Rogers was such a Boy Scout she knew he wouldn't be checking her out. She almost asked him if he was seeing anyone, and then he told her about the state of the Avengers.
She listened while Steve spoke about the roster. "You should have let me know earlier, Steve. I'm not so busy I can't be around more, and it sounds like you could use the help. I can get off the job earlier...paralegals have to be good for something, right? They can handle the research, and if I stick to just court appearances, I can put in a lot more time."
Steve seemed pretty agreeable to that. "You know, if I'm going to be around the Mansion more, I probably ought to get a room. It'll be easier than heading home every night, and a few changes of clothes for work can't hurt any."

"I could have Jen, but you know me. I bury myself in my work. It's all I do." Which was honest of him. Caps life had been devoted to being a hero, a rock in the middle of a raging ocean to be the firm ground for decent, hard working people to depend upon. He did what was right, rather then what was popular, and he'd never had an actual job. Unlike Jen, who doubled as a Lawyer, or Danny Rand, who was a renowned businessman, he had nothing to go back to should the Hero thing fall through. Even Peter Parker had a life outside of his mask. But even as Steve Rogers, he was a war hero.
"I can get you a room. Chances are, I can actually get you a wing. The mansion is big enough." Thanks to Tony, who had generously donated the mansion to Avengers business. It was open to essentially all heroes.
He'd almost suggested that they share a room, though he wasn't sure how that would have gone over. The boyscout senses were tingling on that subject. "Jen... I'm glad you're back. I have to say, I missed the old training sessions."

"Can you blame me?" he flashed that all American smile. He hadn't painted in a long time. Not since criminal business had picked up. When you had to worry about Doctor Doom, Juggernaut, and now competition from Norma Osborn, you tended to forget about the things you loved. It turned out that the SSS had also given him the reflexes and the attention to detail that allowed one to make fantastic works of art. So far, he'd been more into abstract art, though he'd thought about getting in to portraits, though he had yet to find a model. His Mona Lisa, so to speak.
"Sounds like a good idea. I'm sure Jarvis will be glad to see you. Hey, if you feel like some training later, I'll probably be downstairs working out anyway. Just let me know."
