Canon/Original: Canon on a technicality. For more information, here: http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Optimus_Prime_%28G1...mics_continuity; here: http://marvel.wikia.com/Optimus_prime; here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Transform...(Marvel_Comics); and here: http://www.comicvine.com/transformers/49-3370/.

Codename: Optimus Prime

Real Name: Orion Pax

Nickname: Optimus, Prime, Chief, Big Boss

Age: No one really knows for sure, outside of Alpha Trion and Elita-One. He is approximately 9 million years old as Optimus Prime, and who knows how old he was when he “died” as Orion Pax?

Gender: Male.

Optimus stands approximately 35 feet tall in Robot Mode, in Vehicle Mode, he’s a cab-over Peterbilt Truck in red and blue.

Clothing: Optimus Prime very rarely wears clothing – it would hinder his transformation. However, It happens rarely.

Powers: Other than being a gigantic transforming robot, Optimus is in a class of his own. As leader of the Autobots, he carries the Matrix of Leadership within him, near to his Laser Core. In the Darkest Hour, it will open, the charged Energon crystal inside expelling a great deal of destructive power upon his foes, Decepticon or not.

He’s also capable of dying and resurrecting when the situation calls for it. He times these semi-suicidal urges well, only in times when it is absolutely necessary.

Prime carries a high-powered laser rifle that can shoot high-powered energy blasts that are capable of damaging fellow Cybertronians – in addition to just about anything else he needs to. He also has a large Energon axe that he can extend from one of right hand, that is almost as capable of slicing through things as adamantium.

Prime was the first modern Autobot, die-cast and rebuilt by Alpha Trion. His armor was made specifically with the goal of standing alone against Megatron and his Decepticons – to the point that Megatron's deadly fusion cannon acts like a standard laser on his body if he's careful about where he takes the hit.

When he transformes into Robot Mode, he is technically three beings, typically referred to thus:
“Optimus”: The robot that everyone is familiar with.
“Prime” / Command Center: The trailer section of his alternate mode, which can become a mobile artillery/command center.
Roller: A small recon vehicle most useful for operating behind enemy lines.
Often Prime and Roller will move off the battlefield when he transforms.

Weakness: Any damage to one of the three sections is felt by the other two, and while Optimus may be able to operate without the other two modules, they cannot operate without him. Otherwise, he has very few weaknesses that are not inherent to being a robot with a soul. But his one and only distinct weakness is the fact that he will risk everything for the safety of innocents, people he doesn't know. He doesn't leave people behind, and often will accept a Decepticon changing allegiance without (much) hesitation. He relies on his troops to deal with a situation, and trusts their judgment. Oh, and he'll occasionally rush into traps, knowingly, if it means freeing a hostage.

Personality: “Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.” is his mantra. His personality is known to everyone. He is a soldier, a fighter, a leader, and a genuinely caring person. If he was innocent, the world would be better off, because the very people he fights are the ones who stole his innocence. He fights to save lives. In short, he is both a soldier and a hero, dedicated to people and ideals.

History: The beginning of Optimus Prime's long history is hotly debated, and frankly it's a lot like any religious leader. Some versions make it out to be extremely messianic, exactly in accordance with the Covenant of Primus. Others make him a normal soldier with a receptive spark and a gift for understanding. One version even puts him into a stable time-loop with the creation of Aerialbots. But what we will consider to be true is thus.
Orion Pax was a dockworker because he wanted to be, not because he had to be. In various contests of skill, he always won – be it sharpshooting or gladiatorial games. The only combatant in the games he couldn't beat, in fact, was a 'bot of similar age – Megatron. They formed a close bond, until Megatron betrayed the Autobots to (re)form the Decepticons. In doing, he took the power of flight as his domain and started the Great War. City after city fell, and the last was the capitol of Cybertron – Pax's own city of Iacon! In the first infiltration and battle, Orion Pax (and his lover Ariel) fell, but their bodies were found by the legendary Autobot Alpha Trion, who rebuilt them into the forms they now hold: Optimus Prime and Elita One! There were many battles on Cybertron, a thousand years of war, made up of mourning the dead and frantic rebuilding. Of course, there was only a place for a general at the head of the Autobots – a Prime, bearing the artifact known as the Matrix (either the Creation Matrix or the Matrix of Leadership; the two terms are used for aspects of the relic). The Matrix had been built into Prime's chest cavity (near his laser core) by Alpha Trion.

After that thousand years, the planet was shaken loose from its orbit either by the will of Primus or simply by the sheer number of explosions above and below the surface of the planet. This wasn't an issue for the hardy Transformers until the planet was drawn into the gravity field of a dangerous asteroid field. Optimus Prime, now a seasoned soldier and leader of the Autobots, led a strike team of his most skilled and most powerful Autobots to destroy this threat on a ship called only The Ark. They were successful, but they were then ambushed by the Decepticons in their ship, the Nemesis – which was destroyed in the firefight, even though the situation ended up that both groups were offlined. The ship spun out of control, its on-board computer Teletraan-1 and the AI interface Auntie both unable to take control thanks to the need to lock the Decepticons out.

Space is vast. The odds of the Ark actually crashing into anything large enough to matter are beyond astronomical – they are staggering. That it did not get sucked into a black hole, or simply drawn into a sun immolated as a piece of debris is ridiculous. That it landed on an inhabited world – one which the Celestials (who the Transformers call the Vok) had visited and seeded, no less – is almost impossible. Regardless, this is what happened when the Autobots and Decepticons crashed into Earth, over 4 million years ago.

The Ice Ages had ended, and Mount St. Hilary exploded in 1984. After a few years on Earth, wherein the Autobots met heroes like Spider-Man (who Optimus may owe his spark to), they forced the Decepticons into an inglorious retreat, leaving Earth slowly to finish the Great War. But recently, he heard about a dispatch from the Decepticon HQ. A 'bot with an excavator alt-mode named Sandblaster was sent to Earth. Optimus could not trust this mission to his friends and troops, because of what he was truly afraid of. Firstly, he assumes Sandblaster is a Constructicon – and where one of them goes, all of them (and Devastator) Arrive. Second, he is concerned with the Decepticon designs on Earth, with the Ark and Teletraan-1, which could lead to Vector Sigma. And if Megatron regained control of Vector Sigma, who knows what could happen?

He comes to New York, knowing some heroes of the '80s, like Spider-Man. He now seeks out this “amazing” companion, for help and information on what the potential Constructicon is up to. If anyone knows, it's likely to be the Friendly Neighborhood Wall-Crawler. He knows of the Avengers, and hopes to interface with their terminal in the goal of finding the missing Decepticon.

Team Affiliates: Leader of the Autobots. Could work with S.H.I.E.L.D. or the Avengers. The good guys.

RP Sample: Since it's a canon, we can have a thread as soon as someone wants.

Code:fighter jet

Previous RP Experience: I’m Facedancer. Et al.

I'm mostly applying for this character because of Sandblaster's approval.

Just remember to stay active with Dugan. I'm starting to miss his bowler hat.
