Has the manga been scanlated? If so, by who? Is it likely to have been picked up? Is it picked up already? Guess, I don't know, but this forum looked lonely with no topics.

It hasn't been picked up by my knowledge. I'm hoping Seven Seas might be the one to reach out and release the manga in English. Considering they have released lots of shoujo-ai for us...

Your guess is as good as mine as far as the manga scans though. I've had no sucess tracking it down via the internet(and translated). Maybe I'm not looking in the right places...

Definatly not looking in the right places, trot on over to lurk. Lillicious are releasing, but they're rather haphazard about it.

As for seven seas, gods i hope not, they're a terrible company. First sign of anything controversial they'll drop the series. They're one of the weakest comapanies ive ever come across. They aught to be ashamed to call themselves a company for the amont of money they waste on licensing stuff they have no intention of releasing. Wouldnt be suprised if it died soon. (I'm not a seven seas fan in case you missed it 1.gif )

Only 2 companies could do it justice, with a 3rd possible. Del Ray, Tokyopop, and the Shoujo division of Viz, which seems to have decent translators and editors.

I sure hope this is just a discussion about scantalations.. Links to it are not allowed as it is an infringement to copyrights. Violation of copyrights can lead to closing this forum by the invisionfree community..

Yes, the manga has had scantalations that reached up 'till Yumi's visit to Sachiko's house for New Year.

They only bumped down Nymphet; otherwise, Seven Seas pretty much goes nuts with their Strawberry Line.

And as for other publishing options, Del Rey and Seven Seas would pretty much be on equal standing. Tokyopop would do the same thing previously mentioned licenser's would, but it would get overshadowed by their BL audience. VIZ is actually the worst company imaginable to get the Maria Watches Over Us manga; they'd botcher and butcher it and Americanize it beyond all recognition (I'm not a VIZ fan, in case you missed it).

Seven Seas are naff. Sure their work is good, but their customer service and distribution is the worst i've ever seen. I sugget you look up KashiMashi, one of their most popular series. Half the currently available volumes are out of stock with no date for resupply. And the blame is getting passed back and forth between SS and their distributor.

They missed the release date for Panic by over a year, then when finally had a proper release date, missed it by 2months, again.

Then there's the whole KnJ fiasco which i wont get into lol

Del Rey/Tanoshimi do similar quality work as SS, diference is their distribution is sound and it works. when they say we 'll release on 'x' day it's released. No 3months later it's released.

Tokyopop have already aquired the license for the novels to be released in germany, and if memory serves the manga aswell. So i don't think it's that much of a leap for them to aquire the other licenses aswell. And i doubt the BL audience would overshadow it. They're two seperate genres.

Viz's shonen divishion is the worst in the world, i agree completely. However their Shojo depaartment isn't to bad in the grand scheme of things. They aren't perfect by any means, but they're better than a few others i could name. Also they have an established and stable distribution network. IMO that's a prime need these days.

That said, my current fave for picking this up is Yen Press, i've already emailed Kurt reccomending this one, and a few other series i think they should snaffle 1.gif Hopefully they'll pick them up.

Either way i don't see it getting licensed any time soon.

Wait a second...Seven Seas licenses a crapload worth of Shoujo-Ai and Yuri but they suck at distributing it properly?

Viz's Shoujo Beat has some good titles (Ouran, Honey & Clover, Nana) but I'm not always a fan of their localizing the dialogue (I'm looking at you, Nana). I don't really see them picking up MariMite though. Not really their style.

Seven Sea's is pretty good, and they're the only ones I know that actually have a yuri line. I know they switched their distributors, but they probably won't be picking up anything until they get things settled. I just hope it doesn't interfere with their release schedule too much. September's already a long enough wait for First Love Sisters...
